My VMN keeps turning itself off, even at home and while not losing internet!

Since I updated my iPhone 15 Pro Max to 26.4.2 this app has blocked ALL OTHER APPS.⚠️
Cancel my subscription.

Poor service very unhappy with service can only change with phone call then have to Waite forever to get ahold of someone. Canceled my plan to go elsewhere and keep getting nonstop advertising.

When using vpn and adding websites it freezes my websites anyways

Still getting plenty of spam calls drives me crazy and am thinking of canceling giving it another week

I gave this a one star because it would not let me delete it kept saying remove from Home Screen ask for permission for know reason and it takes a while to get off my phone. I deleted this app three weeks ago and it is still here I had to go to an Apple Store to get it took off my phone.

This app is absolutely exasperating. I feel like I’m having a mini stroke every time I need to open the vault and access the password manager. I need a password manger because I can’t remember my passwords..yet I have to memorize a six digit number every time I sign in? Nope. I want
E. A. S. Y. and setting up Aura ain’t. This was the second time I tried Aura in the second time I canceled it. I don’t know what I was thinking by ordering it again. OH YEAH..I remember now…
I’ve got so much money I don’t care that I waste it on financial security apps that don’t even list my bank as one they are able to protect and monitor. 🤬

You will have problems with your kids being able to by pass their product, customer service is terrible and refund policy is junk. They just took $108 from my account for something I cancelled in time. There are better options.

Recently, Aura increased their monthly subscription rate by just over 30%. That’s a big jump in price. Did they offer anything new to coincide with that increase? Did they enhance existing features or expand coverage? No and no and no. It’s disappointing and I won’t let fear of identify theft lock me into a never-ending subscription to a service that provides marginally decent coverage.
The data broker and people search site removal service does not provide enough coverage (only a fraction of the sites are monitored) and the data breach monitoring is nothing that can’t be accomplished for free with HaveIBeenPwned.
Food for thought for all of you Americans out there: the only reason you even need a service like Aura is because the US government allows shady corporations to buy, sell and trade personal information. These data vampires routinely leak your info all over the internet and there’s nothing regulating that they have robust security to protect you. Demand better. Demand privacy laws like the people of the EU. What an utter embarrassment.

You say you’re for people who prefer to centrally “manage credit bureaus, malware, and over 200 data brokers automatically.” Here’s my personal experience with Aura’s data broker removal service specifically: I’ve been an Aura customer for a year and a half+ and I’ve had only about 40 removals completed from the combined “data broker” and “people search” categories and NO removals completed from “junk mailers” and “real estate data broker” categories. There are under 20 removal requests currently in progress across all of the categories. Aura proudly lists a bunch of data brokers in the “What’s new?” section, but no action has taken place on them yet and no indication helps me understand *when* action will take place. I’ve drawn a conclusion from these observations: Aura staggers removal requests to these brokers to deliberately lengthen the timeline for removal, thus preventing users from simply signing up and completing bulk removal for all brokers in a condensed period of time. It’s a scheme to keep subscribers. Maybe it’s also a bit of a performance so it *appears* as though there’s consistent value being provided by the service. Do other services do the same thing? Probably. Does that make it ethical? No.
If a service supports removal from 200 data brokers, then what’s stopping them from issuing removal requests from every single one of them as soon as possible? Per Aura: “Data brokers collect and sell your personal information to advertisers, telemarketers, and even scammers. Aura sends opt-out requests to over 200 data broker sites, checks if your data reappears, and re-submits requests.” In other words, there’s urgency to remove this data if your security and privacy are important to you. The longer that data persists on broker servers with dubious security measures in place, the higher the chance that data will be stolen (as evidenced by the massive National Public Data breach from 2024). So I ask rhetorically: would an honest party that’s concerned for your safety purposely delay action on removing data that compromises your security? Look, I accept that there are technical and anti-abuse constraints that absolutely could partially explain a more staggered approach to data removal. I also accept that there may indeed be human elements to these requests that are occasionally necessary (personal review of account details, reviewing postal mail, etc). But should it take more than a year to complete all removals for a single person? If there are reasonable justifications for these delays, then it is not explained to customers, aside from very basic info about ongoing requests in process (broker names, last request date, next request date). If there are justifications for the prolonged staggering of removal requests, then I would like to see that communicated. Until then, my read on it is that the practice conveniently aligns with typical app subscription economics that prioritize retention and revenue over all else. As an American, we’ve been abandoned by the government (no regulation of these data broker vampires) and left to solve the problem by indenturing us to corporations like Aura whose priority is infinitely increasing profits. This is a broken system.
Edit 2: Another MASSIVE issue with Aura’s data broker removal service: by default, they will share your Aura account login email address with brokers when issuing takedown requests. There’s no setting to control what email address is passed to the brokers. Thus, for shady brokers, they are undoubtedly collecting and holding onto this email address. Why is that a problem? Because my login email I use with Aura is a relatively new/clean email address that has never been exposed in data breaches. But now, that address is at major risk because of the carelessness of Aura’s product design and poor communication to customers. Aura is an absolute joke. Moving my rating down from 2 to 1 star.
Edit 3: I learned today that Aura was recently scammed via a phishing attack into exposing 900,000 records in their db. Around 20,000 current subscribers affected. One more reason to ditch them.
Edit 4: Another warning for privacy-conscious people: After your subscription with Aura ends, you are prohibited from logging in and accessing your data. I was hoping to delete my personal data in my account once the renewal lapsed, but I’m only prompted with a page to re-subscribe and am locked out of my account entirely. This is unconscionable. I’ve submitted a privacy request to have my data deleted, but there’s no way to validate if and when they complete the request. Absolutely infuriating experience.

The first day I used this app, it allowed 8 calls, even with all secure measures in place. $25 a month, no. I cancelled the service.

So many issues. Scams. Ready to cancel. Glitching and constantly hacked!

I can’t repo and to critical alerts because the new AI tool keeps popping up and prevents accessing anything else.

The tying of this service to its VPN is poor development. You’re forced to log into the app to use the VPN. When you log into the app you have access to ALL your personal information, EVERYTHING! So if someone grabs your phone they now have access to your account. In addition, after inactivity the app logs you out and guess what your VPN turns off. This is the poorest VPN configuration I’ve ever seen. Every other service I’ve tried doesn’t do that, they have a separate VPN app that runs regardless of you logging into an app that has access to EVERYTHING 🤦‍♂️. I’ll be looking for something else.

I tried to cancel online the same way I signed up. The chat service told me I have to talk with a specialist. The problem is I work 6am to 6pm 5 to 6 days a week. This is absurd that I cannot cancel online. I didn’t talk to someone when I signed up. I would give a zero star if they would allow it.

I downloaded this app because I wanted to get rid of scammers, spammers, and all the other compromising bs across my digital profile. The advertisement clearly states that spam call protection is part of the service. Then I find out that it’s an add-on that costs an ADDITIONAL $20/mo! And here’s the kicker… none of the pricing info for the app or its add-ons is listed in the App Store… so you have to go thru the entire installation process and review before you find any of this out… AFTER you’ve already given them all the info they need (email, home address, phone number, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, etc) to create another avalanche of digital attacks by selling your information. I’m so sick and tired of these “protection” services that end up screwing you over more than you were to begin with!

Every time it tried to link to anything or provide any actual services to help fix issues or block a barrage of valid. It would say something went wrong. Better services out there for sure.

The biggest catfish program of them ALL

This is absolutely outrageous, why do I have to pay a whooping $90 just for an app that won’t work?

Child web protection is broken on iPhone and has been for months to the point where if your child loses WiFi, it blocks all cellular data meaning you cant see their location and they can’t face time you or use anything that requires internet access. Aura have no date to fix and support basically says “oh well”. Child safety should be a high priority.

Way to complicated to get started. Too many questions too many steps. Have no clue if anything works.

My kid can easily disable the app…

The VPN made my apps stop loading. Couldn’t open any website. Couldn’t even use Apple or Google Maps. I realized it was auto connecting even though I’ve toggled it off repeatedly. Couldn’t even get the Aura app to connect or open due to the VPN so couldn’t shut it off there! This was a nightmare as I was out with my kids trying to get to a relatives house ( maps would not load) I went into my settings and was able to block it from auto connecting and I hope this fixes the issue. The VPN is GARBAGE and caused me absolute hell for two days.

I can no longer use Aura VPN on my Verizon iPhone to access my financial accounts!! Financial Apps will not open with Aura VPN turned on. Never had this problem with Norton VPN! What good is a VPN if you can’t use it to protect financial accounts??!!

My daughter cried all last night because it automatically set it to 1 minute and it was not letting me change it I hate this app and will never ever say this is a good one

Still getting robo calls and texts.

My son can turn off his wifi and he can play all the games he wants.

I reached out multiple times and never got my problems resolved. It’s hard to cancel. And customer service don’t check in for resolving issues. All around waste of money for years and even harder to cancel.

I had to cancel my subscription after less than two months due to a complete lack of follow up to my identity fraud concerns. Their so-called “white glove” department should be called the invisible glove department. I am requesting a refund on my annual prepaid subscription, but I’m sure they’ll find a way to deny me that, too.

Aura The company that was supposed to to protect us got breached and our data is now out there including phone numbers, passwords and etc… please be careful.

I subscribed because this was recommended by one of my favorite YouTubers, “Scammer Payback”. I trust the guy. When I signed up, the Aura system asked for payment. I entered my CC number. Then it asked for my personal information, which I also entered. It seemed like it was working as advertised. Then the system kicked me out. When I tried to log back in, the Aura program took me back to the subscription payment screen and would not let me pass unless I agreed to pay another $144, in addition to my previous payment ($239). I immediately cancelled my subscription and asked for a refund. Beware! This seems like a major scam to me.

This software dramatically slows down desktops and mobile applications

I knew I had a payment due but damn just like kickoff boost then bounce. Probably see you in a court room!

Still getting multiple calls per day after 2 1/2 months

I haven’t noticed any difference with using this, it’s a waste of time and money.

They advertise stolen funds reimbursement. This is false. Phone was stolen and they logged into accounts to start moving money. I guess hacked or compromised accounts aren’t considered stolen. Better options out there. Should avoid these.

Still getting a lot of spam texts and calls

I bought a year. I am only 2 weeks in and spam calls have increased dramatically. It has you doing most of the work when it comes to getting your name and info off of broker sites. Not worth the money I spent. Very disappointed.

For an App which supposedly provides security and protection, calling the provided toll-free number to renew my annual subscription and having Aura’s rep ask me outright to provide my payment card information details to him directly flies in the face of prudence and security. Why in the world would Aura still offer this option if it holds itself out as an ultra-high security org? This baffles the reasonable person. Granted, Aura can still connect me to a separate computerized system to allow me to enter my payment card information details myself, but it didn’t offer me that option from the outset. Very strange!!!!

Aura app on iOS it good when it works. I have been using it for some time now. My only issue with it is the VPN. It is disconnecting frequently. I have gone over the settings in the app and my phone to ensure proper setup. It struggles to stay connected for long periods of time. I have no issue with the desktop version, it works perfectly fine there. Overall Aura provides a great service but I am looking into other options for a VPN for my phone.

I am church Treasurer so I get frequent first time call that go into wherever because I don’t know I have received them…probably will turn off unless you have a solution

They always say they add new brokers yet they NEVER actually submit a request to any new brokers. Only the ones they had when you sign up. I keep trying to ask support about this and they never return emails. So I would say the customer service is not the best either. Still have spam calls, junk mail and many other things I thought this would help with
