i haven’t even finished my free trial and this app has decided to charge me $20 all of a sudden. i even went out of my way to cancel the free subscription before renewal before this happened. imagine putting trust into this app to keep your phone safe and instead they unrightfully take your money instead. horrible service, and never recommending this app to anybody and i’m going out of my way to tell everybody how predatory this service is.

iOS Update 26.5.1
Yesterday, I updated my iPhone 17 pro max and lost my connection to data on both my home WiFi and Cellular. The data speed was worse than dial-up as in the old days. Only calls & text would work.
It turned out that Avast VPN was the cause and I had to delete my Avast VPN app.
I hope Avast can fix their VPN to work with future iOS updates so that I can reinstall their app!

Abusive garbage
This garbage should not be installed on any machine unless you want to be nagged to death to buy their upgraded services. They do not provide a support contact, you cannot turn off features you don’t want and are constantly nagged about them. There are plenty of other security software packages that do a better job and don’t nag and provide support contacts.
No longer works
I keep getting a 5034 error code, app was deleted and reinstalled and still can not get a personal VPN connection. If it no longer can connect I will cancel my yearly

Shortcomings
SLOW APP - Last night I had to shutdown my iPad, just to get the app to stop “spinning or waiting to respond” It was seven (7) minutes before I could regain control of my iPad.
I am so tired of this being such a characteristic of this software. I REALLY HATE IT!

It's a scam
If you don't want to have a subscription impossible to cancel, never install this app. I've been trying to cancel the premium subscription for 3 months and they don't do it, they only give excuses and never cancel.

VPN BLOCKS iPhone from Internet and also blocks all apps. Looked through Avast app and found no controls to allow access to Internet. So guessing this app is too good for its own good?

Poor Functionality
After working fine for a while, I am no longer able to enable the private VPN

This product is effectively useless. The VPN drops in and out on a regular basis, and then they casually removed the VPN functionality without warning, expecting users to pay for a standalone product.

Rip off
Got the “ premium plan”, can’t even empty trash. No, that’s 29.99$ more. Trial period ? Guess what? Cancel and you will still be charged. Even if the program does nothing except take up storage space.
Lousy support
I have tried and tried and tried to get help with a problem that Avast concedes is a problem and tries to refer me to a specialist who can help. Apparently, there are no specialists because I have tried three times over three days and every session times out! No more Avast for this user.
Do not use any product from Avast.
I canceled my account in September and deleted it. I no longer needed this service as the only reason I used it in the first place was because it was cheaper. But prices went up so I canceled. Then in December, I not only got charged for an auto renewal but additional services I never signed up for. My bank marked one charge as fraudulent, thankfully not charged for 4 services, but there were 3 others I was billed for with no invoice emails or records. They will not issue a refund. Or even a prorated amount.
Email guard is broken
It’s harder than it should be to remove e-mail guard from you email accounts. Would give 0 stars if I could

My phone has been hacked twice even though I do not visit phishing sites and I use the avast security and privacy service. What the hell am I paying for? Nothing, apparently.

After having and using this service for years they’ve increased my payment without notice and later on doubled my yearly subscription. Customer service just try’s to upsale you for their error. They are a scam!
Buggy since the recent update, VPN disrupts my WiFi connection on my Apple devices (iPhone, iPad)
Ever since the most recent update a few days ago, having the VPN connected is periodically booting me from my WiFi connection. The WiFi symbol is still in the right corner, so it’s not switching to data, but apps and websites aren’t loading. When I switch the VPN off, I suddenly have my WiFi connection back.
My devices all have the most recent iOS, I’ve tried restarting them, I’ve deleted the Avast app and reinstalled, I’ve even reset my router network settings. I’m still encountering the problem. This is the first time this has happened in all the years I’ve been using Avast. And it’s only been happening since the last Avast update.

It’s so freaking annoying because I have emails set up that I have no way to get to you or check on. I would be as annoyed if I could see hack alerts on the desktop app, but alas, you can not. Also not a fan of the added pay walls for services like the VPN and the inability to add services à la carte if you’re already a premium member. Dev team please fix the glaring issue with hack alerts. So far not super impressed and I’m unsure if this service is worth resubscribing to.

Paying for Premium
I’m paying for a premium subscription, my account shows I’ve paid, yet I still am only getting the free version. This has happened in the last 6 months. In the support/help under my account, there’s not anything except articles or pre answered questions. I cat find anyway to contact anyone for assistance. I used to like the app, but it’s seemingly just a money grab. I’ve paid for premium since mid November and have only had access to the free version…frustrated.
