I am paying to use this as a spreadsheet since I did not connect it to any of my accounts. Sort of expensive but I get it - everyone wants a little money for their work. Fair. I do like the cloud connectivity across all my devices. Bronze level since I do everything manually and I don’t need fancy features. And now you are asking me to “upgrade” to silver if I want to change some comments I entered into a transaction in one of by brokerage accounts? Crazy. I had to delete the transaction and enter it again with my new comments. Really? You want more money so I can edit my information? I find that very greedy and I am actively looking for an alternative to your platform.

I was really looking for an easy-to-use, more reliable alternative to YNAB. Banktivity isn’t it. It has many very interesting features, none of which have adequate new user support. I have contacted user support several times. While they have been available, the support consisted mostly of sending links to same inadequate documents I had already read before contacting them. No thanks.
After over 10 years of loving this product, they leave me no choice except to go with a competitor.
I’m a long time user of Banktivity. Several weeks ago, I changed a password with my main investment provider, changed my credentials with the software, then successfully reconnected all of my accounts. When syncing accounts the next day all my connected accounts fail on incorrect userid and passwords. Multiple attempts to correct the credentials yield the same results. I opened tickets with IGG Software and after many emails with the support tech I was told, “Unfortunately, you’ll need to contact your financial institution directly to have your account unlocked. I apologize for the inconvenience.”.

App Doesn’t Work, Poor Support
Banktivity has been problematic for two weeks and has stopped working altogether the past week. If you poke around their site long enough, you might be able to find a message that, in short, says we know we have problems, don’t bother us. No updates, no refunds. Look elsewhere folks, this bank is closed.
Avoid this app
I downloaded it 24 hours ago and have already restarted from scratch six times. Every time I link another online account, it freezes, forcing me to quit and lose everything. Thankfully, there’s a 30-day trial-I only needed one day to decide I’m cancelling and moving on to something else.
Don’t do it
They still haven’t got this software working correctly. I tried it years ago and it was a disaster. Today, My bank accounts are never correct and there are missing transactions. I tried Monarch Money along with this software and Monarch won!
Buggy and slow, it is the new quicken!
This has gone up $15 in 3 years. Features and amount of bugs are not worth it. This software has lost its value and worth to me. I am in process of moving on to another software. I started using this back with it was iBank an dit was fantastic as an alternative to the Mega app Quicken, they have essentially become quicken with all the nickel and diming plus they are right up there with the unstable and bugginess that was also quicken.
UPDATE: the app has now become almost unusable, opening the app takes 5-10 minutes to sync to cloud. Closing also takes 5-10 minutes. My balances are off all the time bc of glitches that dont recognize a transaction.

Big billing fail
This application was highly recommended by a financial professional friend of mine so I thought I’d try it. Web site lists monthly pricing. Actual monthly pricing, not annual divided by 12. Install the application and, at least in the Apple App Store, only annual pricing is available.
What a Horrible App
I have been forced into using Banktivity since I entered the Mac world after retirement. The Mac version of the program is bad enough; nothing near as good as PC Quicken. Things only got worse and more expensive after the subscription format came in. But now I’m trying the iOS version (for traveling) and it’s just ridiculous. And there is no support for any of this. And absolutely NOTHING in the way of help, tutorials, etc. for the iOS. I am so willing to try anything else by this time. Any suggestions from other users?? Seriously. I’m going to keep checking back so if you have any ideas, please post here.

Difficult to set up
After spending many hours setting up all the accounts it was never able to properly gather my transactions automatically , checking , savings, credit cards, investments… nothing updated properly….a total pain in the butt and a waste of my time….maybe if you have just a few account’s it might be workable …..my solution now is to limit my financial world to just a couple of credit cards and 1 credit union and 1brokerage firm…and mostly do cash transactions. Tracking with pen and paper…..💸💸

Time to ditch Yodlee
Loved this app used it for years, but the service they use , Yodlee, to sync transactions is horrible. I haven’t been able to sync for over a month. If I can’t sync it’s useless. Checking their web site the list of banks not syncing is huge. Time to start looking for a new app. Consider switching to Plaid.
Updates ruined this app!!
I have used this app for years. In the last few updates i have become unable to download transactions from my credit card in a usable format. I can’t edit them or use the running total.
It used to be quite easy.
Now it seems one must be a member of the private club that understands their changes. Ie you need to be one of their programmers!!
Now i have years of records that I can’t rely on being accurate.
My choice seems to be to find a different app

Really poor product
This used to be a great product. Now you can't get downloads from brokerage firms to work. It won't update security prices. Support is friendly but never solves the problem. After repeated calls to fix, they just forgot about me and blamed the companies i'm connected to. Really looking for a product solution.

no longer syncs
loved this app for the longest time, but now it no longer syncs with my bank. when I try to fix the issue, the app freezes and times out.
Recent update issue
I have been using the app for several years. Apparently a change happened in the recent update that has changed the amount entry input to a straight numeric key pad, its no longer like a simple calculator. You can no longer make an amount negative or add/subtract/multiply or divide amounts as you enter them. I find this change VERY unsatisfactory.
Used to be better
It seems that the programmers are hellbent to break what has been working well. I’m a customer and user since the beginning of the 90s and have seen a lot of good stuff, but also a lot of booboos. Lately, however, the latter has been more dominant. Working with customer support has always been a hit and, mostly, a miss (many cases over the years) and I have given up on some of the issues. What irks me particularly is the fact that they switched to a monthly subscription model, but without adopting the SaaS mindset not sprucing up their offerings. It is essentially the same since ever and hence feels very tired.

I would be nice if I could actually use it…
I used Banktivity in the past, and it was a decent accounting app. I stopped using it when my finances became simple. Now that my finances are becoming more complicated, I decided to start using Banktivity again. Well, it will not let me sync saying that it cannot use my Banktivity ID. I've tried with a new ID, which did not work. Nothing in support documents in the website concerning this manner. I'm running the latest OS and hardware that is less than two years old. I do not have time for this level of unreliability.

This happens on a regular basis. Also, no amount of changing or unchecking can get the program to assign Kindle transactions to the account “Book & Record”. Banktivity insists on putting those in “Recreation” What is the point of creating import rules if the program ignores them? [Using Mac OS 15.7.4 on an M1 Macbook]
Not the Same
This is not the same app I have use for a Decade, the login feature is not what I want to do. No way to get around it and still did not send the verifercation email, just decided to find another app bye bye Banktivity it was fun
Several functions work intermittently
CONS: Investment transactions are inaccurate with missing data at times, upload to the wrong accounts; Transactions in reconciled accounts disappear; accounts that were balanced become unbalanced; You must constantly monitor by comparing to investment and bank balances for inaccuracies; poor Help manual. PROS: Multi currency accounts, easy transaction register, Online help staff mostly available but often reasonable solutions are not available, especially with investment accounts. We have not switched yet because we use the multi foreign currency feature and haven’t found a better alternative with the features we require.
Super opaque
Insists on categorizing things, but the information I have doesn’t make it clear which category applies. So when I picked bond, it applied a par value. I deleted it and thought it was gone (seems a reasonable assumption). After that I had this inexplicably large balance. Turns out the par value had silently returned, but it was not shown on the page with the inflated balance.
Also, I definitely entered my paycheck with the the base pay fixed, but every two weeks I have to remember to unselect the radio button next to my salary or it will change that to keep the total, when my take home pay varies, not my base pay.

Duplicates transactions
My biggest complaint was that transactions got duplicated in the downloads, which was hard to correct. I generally like the flexibility but the download connections are not as smooth as they could be. I used it for a year and then went back to Quicken.
I need support, and can't get it through the app
I purchased Banktivity 7 for Mac through the App Store, but when I tried to use it tgoday, it said the program was corrupted and that I had to delete it and redownload it. So I did, directly from the Banktivity website. However, it demands a registration code (which I never recieved, since it was purchased via Apple). When I attempt to "Secure Purchase", it will only look for an older version of the program to upgrade from. Please help.
Slipping
I used this since it was ibank. I like the format and features to a point. It used to be easy to update but with increased security, it is harder to use and get to import transactions from banks and brokers. I have called support but they really have not been able to help. There is supposedly a feature that if you correct a downloaded transaction, it will remember this. Apparently my copy has Alzheimer’s. The price has gone up and I have given up on this app
Looks Great but Painful to Use
I so want to love this app. I’ve used Banktivity since it was iBank 2 way back in 2006 on Mac. I really love the reports and the way this app deals with transfers (pretty much the only one that does it right). I also like IGG and like supporting smaller companies. Since I originally wrote this review, the iPad version has added a lot of feature. The account overview pages are fantastic, as are the reports once you get used to them. Viewing things you created on the Mac side is really nice. However…
Entering transactions is utterly horrible. The amount is OK, then payee you can type, but entering the category means clicking on the tiny box, and then scrolling through an existing list. There’s no ability to type or even search, and they’re listed alphabetically, so you might have to scroll through 30 categories you don’t need just to find the one you do. It’s also presented flat, so even sub-categories are not separated. No one should have this UX experience in 2025.

Long time user (since the beginning) and still frustrated
This program drives me nuts, but I don’t want to put the effort into a new app. I use tech support regularly, after every upgrade. Downloading bank information is a continuous problem. And then the investments tracking (for Edward Jones anyway) is beyond a nightmare. They should just forget the effort. I need to find a something else, but all the work…….
