Buy through App Store only
Saw an ad on IG thought oh that’s cool, $15/month not bad but then went to download app in App Store and was offered $35/year that’s a huge difference and I feel like I was ripped off lol
Not worth it
I was being charged almost $50 a month!Definitely not worth it.

The AI called chicken potato chips. It said a 60 calorie low carb tortilla was over 2000 calories.

Be careful with the subscription
The perks itself are fine, but beware of the payments. It offered me 2.99 a month for a subscription which I then payed for and I was charged 35.99 for the whole year. I have tried to contact customer service but there is no way to send it. I am very disappointed because I had high hopes considering the looks of the app.

App sucks
I tired to cancel my subscription and I can’t find any where in the app where it mentions subscriptions or how to cancel it ….it doesn’t show up in my subscriptions in the App Store….i sent the company multiple emails telling them to stop it and no reply back….its a huge scam

I canceled this useless app months ago and all of a sudden am getting fraudulent charges on my Apple Pay from them through the company Peddle. DO NOT USE THIS APP!

I saw this ad multiple times and decided to download it because I wasn’t too happy with my current calorie tracker. I did not like this app thought it was hard to manage and very inaccurate when tracking.

My subscription is canceled and has been cancelled yet they keep charging me week after week. They claim they can’t find my email but at this point I think it’s a scam to keep charging. The app is ok but the problem after canceling is terrible. They are literally stealing from me right now.
Non existent customer service
I cancelled the app with ample time and yet they are still trying to charge my credit union. There is no phone number or customer service to talk to. I am filing a complaint. If I cancel a subscription you should not charge my account. This will be disputed, not worth the trouble.

This app is a fraud, they will continue to charge you despite following all directions for cancellation. They also make it impossible to contact them for support.
Paying for an app that I can’t use properly not use
Not only did I pay for the use of the app, but I also paid to have the pro account. I went to track my first meal in it this morning and it’s telling me that I do not have a pet and it’s giving me an error and not letting me track so I am paying a ton of money for an app that I cannot use and I am not happy with that. I emailed Support and they can’t give me a timeframe on when this will be fixed. They just said that there’s a fix in progress. I do not feel that this is acceptable considering I paid what I paid.

All this app has done is take money and then try to take more. It’s just a scam that preys on those who want to lose weight. Don’t try it, at every turn it will try to get you to pay more and doesn’t give you the option to refuse.

I signed up for a one week trial, but it charged me for a full year immediately. AI food detector doesn't really work either

It’s really not accurate at all and not the most user friendly. I also don’t like the screen after scanning the food, it always comes up in ounces. Too expensive for what it is.

Sneaky company plz read
I am extremely frustrated with Bite Pal’s customer service and billing practices.
I originally signed up for what was supposed to be a $35 annual fee. Instead, I was charged twice on the same day and have continued to be charged $35 monthly. Every time I contact customer support, I am told they cannot find my account, yet they somehow have no problem continuing to charge my card.
I have provided information and attempted multiple times to resolve this issue, but I have received no meaningful assistance. If you cannot locate my account, why are you continuing to take payments from me? I have never been able to properly use the service, and I have no confidence that this company is handling customer accounts correctly.
At this point, I want all future charges stopped immediately and a resolution to the unauthorized recurring charges. Customers should not have to fight this hard to cancel a service or get basic support.

Waste
Paid for premium and the app can’t even scan labels and input the information correctly. And you can’t “create” your own meals. You have to use the AI to take a picture of the meal and hope it guesses the correct information…it never does. Or you have to add each ingredient as a “snack”, but there’s no way to enter individual ingredients and their information to create a meal. Just get myfitnesspal.

Not helpful at all. Company too worried about making money than reputation and helping someone get a refund on a subscription that had been cancelled but kept getting charged anyways.

This app is predatory and dangerous. Neurodivergent people are already at a higher risk of eating disorders, the most deadly mental illnesses. We don't need another food diary app promoting starving to an already vulnerable population.
It's also no coincidence that fasting tends to be promoted during recession periods. Manipulating food and education surrounding it, are common ways that people with power maintain power (ex. Cults like NXIVM, the Remant Fellowship). So instead of starving yourself to make rent, or developing an eating disorder from a fad, nourish yourself the best you can. Our bodies and brains need fuel.
A raccoon that tells someone to starve themselves, even for "intermittent fasting," isn't helping them achieve health goals. It's creating a sickly population in a time of economic and political distress, which is the real goal. Starved people will have a much harder time fighting for their rights compared to someone who is nourished.

Do not buy this app, waste of money
The AI is soooo inaccurate when guessing calories and you cannot accurately change the time of eating yet it has a timed eating feature?
This app is not working for me. Also fasting does not work with my life, schedule or athletic needs and the advertisement on how helpful the raccoon is does not match the app at all. I want my money back and to cancel my subscription immediately.

I paid 6 dollars for only a week subscription and deleted the app only to see that BitePal charged my account 38 dollars one week later for a service I didn’t approve.
Money
You can barely see and do anything with this app without paying an annual plan as I was setting up my new account from my previous account it kept on asking me to pay for a subscription to even use the app properly. You cannot change/lower your calorie goal without paying. However, much a month. However, I do get that is how they’re making money but at least they should show you macros and let you lower your calories for free

I thought I was buying a different app from all the others. I literally took a photo of exact calories, fat, and fiber and it STILL gave wrong information, so I have to now double check and renter every single thing!! It has taken way more time than other meal apps. Make sure you find one with a bar code scanner it’ll save you so much time. Now I’m stuck using this for 3 more months so I don’t waste what I spent on it. Their customer service however was prompt when I emailed this morning about my dissatisfaction, although at this point I’d have preferred they’d offered me a refund in all honesty.

Wish we could remove the food plan. No one who needs this app eats those meals. Single ingredient suggestions would be better.
Lacking basic food logging options
I thought this app was going to be better than it actually is. There should be an ability to scan barcodes for foods and to have categories for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Instead, everything is all grouped together so if you are not good at logging things as you eat them, it gets logged all at one time and looks like one meal.

Charged me again after canceling
It was. Ok. Way too expensive for what it’s worth. AI inaccurate with portion and calorie estimation which caused me to constantly have to calculate everything on my own.
What I’m very irritated about is that I canceled my subscription, got a receipt for it, deleted the app, and then it comes in sneakily saying I had the pro subscription as well and renewed it on me! There was no option to see that one when I went onto my account. $70 down the drain. I will be contacting my credit card company.

Rude
While the app was asking me questions it asked me my weight. Once I entered the number, it categorized me as obese. That cartoon raccoon looked like it was judging me and had a concerned look on its face. I will still try this app because I just downloaded it but so far it has not been a good experience.
