I appreciate all the features but can’t justify using the app with it saving videos both in Files and in Photos. I’m sure this is probably due to Apple being overly restrictive to 3rd party devs, and not Black Magic’s fault, but it’s egregious enough that I can’t use this app for anything serious.
Fix AirPlay Sync
This is generally a great app, but there’s a major new bug with the new iOS release. If you record with airplay on (a common practice for monitoring video), the audio will be totally out of sync. Not just a lag that’s correctable, but an audio drift that makes the video totally unusable. Please fix ASAP this is a core part of my workflow!!!

This was working fine
This is working fine and then they remove the ability to use the front facing camera. Now I have to use something else cause I have no way of knowing what I look like on camera.

Cool app but video was super laggy and not having the ability to just snap a photo is huge disappointment. On to the next one.
Terrible
This app is terrible. I downloaded it to use with my dji mic mini. It connects with the mic, but overall this app is awful to use. It started flashing red warning signs at me within 2 minutes of filming, and it didn’t explain at all what the red sign was for. Just terrible. I used it for a few minutes and now I’ve deleted it. Waste of time.

This app would only let me record for 5 seconds. And I am not exaggerating. Then I tried to use the regular camera app and it said my iPad storage was full. However it was no where near full before I downloaded the app. And the app said that my storage on it was full when there was literally nothing stored on it.

3.2 fixed a lot but 3.3 kills recording
Update: April 25, 2026: Version 3.2 fixed some issue and was working GREAT (except for still NOT being able to view a LUT while using an iPad for remote control without baking it in, please fix this) so I updated to version 3.3 and now I can’t record for more than 4 minutes and the app stops recording with an “unknown error”. Recording ProRes to the same external drives I’ve used for the past year with no issues until now. Tried 2 different drives and same issue. It gets so close to being great and then tanks.
Update Oct. 16: after multiple restarts the ISO seems to be working correctly but……i have to restart multiple times every shoot because the issue constantly comes back. So I decided to update to 3.1 and now ALL of my LUTS are gone. Everything had to be re-installed. On top of that is it no longer possible to view the LUT on my iPad when using it as a remote monitor. Unless “record LUT to clip” is selected. Which I don’t want. This makes the remote monitor almost useless and I cannot figure out why BM would take this feature away. I’ve been using this app for a while and have been trying to like it. There are some nice features but it is impossible to lock ISO. Shutter locked, WB locked, ISO manually selected and…….the ISO auto adjusts constantly. It makes the app worthless. Don’t bother dialing in the perfect lighting every time someone enters the frame or moves the ISO adjust and the carefully dialed in look and lighting is lost. Today I updated to the newest version and it was more of the same. So many good things about this app but not being able to lock in setting makes it worthless.

Stabilisation problem
I found a bag on latest update. On iPhone 17pro turning on Cinematic or Extreme stabilisation doesn’t do anything, except RAW…

Too many issues lately
I legitimately used to love this app around 6 or so months ago. It let me record videos while screen sharing to my wireless secondary screen perfectly, it makes videos look better, gives a lot freedom and options relating to video quality, audio, framerate, etc. but lately, it has had HORRIBLE issues with doing so. Now, it will either completely ruin a video I record by supposedly speeding up and slowing down my recording at random intervals every few seconds while recording audio out of sync, making it completely unusable. OR, it will randomly decide not to record audio for 85% of a video until it decides to just randomly work again [or not], like it did recently for a 20 minute video I recently made.
It is so extremely frustrating to deal with this, especially since this was NOT an issue whatsoever those months ago. I really hope they fix this, but until then, I cannot confidently use this app.

Orientation broke on iPhone 17
I’m using an up to date iPhone 17 Pro Max and I can only record with the UI in the portrait configuration. When I rotate the phone the UI stays the same and the video records as if the camera was laid on its side. Apple changed iOS global rotation settings which could be the issue. Unfortunately that’s not something I can change on my end.
Possible bug??
I have used this app for a long time but recently noticed a terrible clicking sound after recording. I thought there was something wrong with my microphone, but the clicking sound is not heard on my native iphone camera. Only through this app. Not sure if there’s a bug in your system or if the most recent app update is no longer compatible with the most recent iOS update (26.2.1) or this is something only within the free version.
