Not working
The auto bleep feature was goated when this app first dropped but now since they added this ai it isn’t working in talking to customer support after using all of my credits to get a feature that used to work and buddy in having a hard time I might just have to unsubscribe.

This app is whack
You should know immediately you’ll be asked to buy the app with no experience as to what the app can do. It’ll override to let you try a video. Uploaded one and began to chat with AI as to what to do. It spliced the video with long spans of just black seconds. It called it an “effect.” Finally got it to remove the effect but then it said I met my limit and needed to purchase. So I never saw an example of anything other than a hot mess. Totally would not buy based on that trial

ABSOLUTE SCAM!
Can not wait more than one clip and the clip can’t be longer than 3 mins for AI to edit it. At that point I could just do the editing myself. It does nothing and is 100% a scam esp based on how they price by buying credits… Just get CapCut. It’s free, gives you captions and you can edit yourself or DaVinci. I’ve tried other platforms or apps and was hopeful. Absolute no for me! Also all monthly plans are non refundable. Soo all they need is that first payment from you and they don’t care about anything else. 👐
Card charged after cancelling
It’s hard to subscribe and unsubscribe - they make you go to their website to avoid iOS fees. After cancelling, my card was still charged

Taking almost 30 mins -2 hours to add captions to a video😡…. The video is only 40 secs….
Too expensive
$70 for basic editing you can do for free on CapCut or TikTok. $200+ a year for the AI edits is ridiculous.
Ruined After Update - Lost My Voice & Canceled Subscription
I’m extremely disappointed with this app.
I was paying for a subscription because it actually worked well before. I had my voice cloned, and it sounded almost identical to me. I could simply paste text and get high-quality voice output for my content - it was smooth and reliable.
After the latest update, everything is ruined.
First, my saved voice is completely gone. I had to recreate it from scratch, which is unacceptable for a paid service.
Second, the new voice sounds nothing like me. The quality dropped significantly, and I can’t use it for my content anymore. It completely broke the consistency of my previous work.
And on top of that, the app itself became confusing and poorly designed. The interface is no longer intuitive - it feels like a rushed, unfinished update.
I’ve already canceled my subscription and I’m actively looking for alternatives. This update destroyed what used to be a great product.

Even though I have purchased a yearly subscription, it is forcing an upgrade to be able to download the videos I’ve already made. This is ridiculous! These latest updates are completely unreasonable, and I’ll be looking for a different solution.

I just got a notification that I paid $25 to Captions AI and I never signed up for anything like that. I don’t know how they got my information.
AI Options Take Forever
I did a trial for $12 because I wanted to see how it would edit mg video with the AI capabilities it’s been advertising. It took over 20 minutes to create and the result was weird and chaotic with colors changing, awkward zoom ins and pan outs and outdated fonts and features. The whole thing looked like a bad 80s infomercial.

Paid & doesn’t work
Paid the monthly and most features don’t work right. Disappointed. They are a scam. I cancelled my subscription and they were still trying to charge my account.

When you do the free trial, there is no option to cancel and they will charge your card daily until they get their $25 and I’ve blocked them and they continued to charge me

Don’t expect to test any of the major features that the advertisements are drawn towards because it is not available in a trial session even the limited trial you are not able to test the AI features also all the advertisements look as if they are going to do everything for you right to make our lives easier need to do everything on our own. This is not any different than any other editing tool that I’ve used

I subscribed and the app continued to tell me I didn’t have a subscription. I never received confirmation or a receipt. Fast forward and I was charged for the next month. Still having never been able to successfully use the app, I requested a refund. It was then I saw the charge from the previous month. I reached out and requested a refund since I was never able to successfully use (even though I tried-I’m sure they can see I never downloaded a finished product). They are refusing. Slow, poorly executed app sub and even more terrible customer service. Note to company: don’t let policy get in the way of common sense or you’ll get blasted on reviews like this.
The app has progressively gotten worse.
I’ve been using Captions since 2023, every addition to add the laggier the app has been. Their “AI” is about as intuitive as a box of rocks. What used to be a time saver and a powerful tool is just becoming another burden which doesn’t justify what they’re charging.

You have to pay to use AI captions
I don’t know why you’d name your app Captions and be one of the first apps to pop up when Google searched for free ai captions if they aren’t free. Why is there a free caption option if the caption option is meant to be paid for to even use it? Why would there be a free option if you can’t even use it??? It’s stupid you can’t even change the font or anything of the captions.

Subscription problem
I was trying to put captions on a video and I was exporting and I need a subscription to export? I made sure to check I wasn’t using anything that needs a subscription and I wasn’t so I can export without subscribing to the app
This app used to be great
Used to love this app, even pay the yearly subscription, so you’d be surprised when I went to export a video that only used music (something that was always included) and now it wants to pay even more money just to export the video. It’s got me a chokehold because the video is due to my client so I pay. Then what happens? The video now won’t export at all and keeps erroring out. Trash app forcing AI down our throats. Avoid.

Captions is honestly one of the worst apps I’ve tried. The moment you open it, you’re hit with nonstop pop-up ads and painfully cringey video intros that feel more like a marketing funnel than an actual editing tool.
The biggest issue is the pricing model. Instead of letting users actually test the features, the app immediately pushes you to buy a subscription. There’s barely any opportunity to try the tools before being forced into a paywall. For an app claiming to be AI-powered, that’s a terrible first impression.
Good apps let you explore features and then decide if they’re worth paying for. This one does the opposite. It feels like pure clickbait.

I KEPT RAGEBAITING THE AI

WASTE of money.
within minutes I already knew that this was not going to be as amazing or as helpful or to be honest anything they described it as. I immediately paid for a max subscription so that I can see all the options. I was willing to take the first month on the chin just to see if it was worth it. It wasn't, so I immediately canceled my description and deleted my account. Four months later I realized they've been charging me this whole time, and when I realized that, i logged in again (my account was supposed to be deleted???) on safari. there was no option at all to cancel my subscription or delete my card information. I've now redownloaded the app and still nothing. there's a button that says "already subscribed" that claims i have no subscription. and yet the charges are on my account.

From OK to worst
I started using this app about two months ago and managed to find some decent formats to do my work which is in Neuroscience and Music medicine. I loved the “pacific” style then I go to use it again and it’s gone from the system. Now I spend a good half hour after creating a short video editing out all the junk they put in these videos. It’s frustrating and I will cancel my subscription as soon as I’ve used up my credits for this month. What do they think viewers are? Gnats!? how about a simple parsimonious Direct AI twin video without all the junk they layer on top of it?

My subscription for this service was cancelled months ago and they continue to bill me. Every single month without fail they wrongfully continue to charge me even though I’ve cancelled the service months ago. I’m sick of this.

Feature tools are not working
I tried to record voiceover clone but it is not working. I purchased subscription for a year in order to do that I didn’t receive the service. The support team is low trained, all recommended to me to turn off and turn on my phone to fix the issue.

Don’t recommend. This app wasted 30 minutes of my time trying to upsell me over and over and over again. I have the $9 plan and it’ll try and force me to use features from their premium plans, and then automatically push those changes and try to make me pay more to export. Terrible app. Just use CapCut or Ig reels editor.
Refund on wrong subscription
I wanted to cancel the subscription the day i was charged but was forced to pay an extra month even when I cancelled the subscription the same day. And no customer service to help resolve it.

On top of that, the app is now glitching in a way that directly affects my work and my money. I create content in Spanish. The platform is now automatically translating my scripts into English without my permission. This was not happening before. I can create one video successfully in Spanish, and seconds later, the next generation switches languages on its own.
When credits are consumed per generation, glitches are not a minor inconvenience - they cost real money.
Even more concerning: your advertised help desk and AI support are completely unresponsive. I reached out and received no assistance. No guidance. No clarification. Nothing.
At this point, the combination of:
• Rapid credit depletion
• Uncontrolled language auto-translation
• System instability between generations
• And zero meaningful customer support
makes this platform feel unreliable and financially wasteful.
Spanish creators should not be penalized by forced language switching. If the platform no longer properly supports Spanish content, that should be clearly disclosed.
I would strongly caution others to explore alternative tools until these issues are resolved.

1. Why language settings are reverting automatically
2. How credits are calculated and consumed

The app lacks a lot, the ai doesn’t do what your asking for, and it takes forever to put the captions, and the worst part is that the subscription is not billed through Apple, the only way to cancel is through their app, so you don’t get your money back and also you have to pay first to see the page you don’t get to try it first, so this app is a scam, don’t waste your money

This is a poor attempt at a captions app. DO NOT BUY. It’s a waste of time and money.

The Captions app is lacking in representation and avatar quality. When I create AI videos, the app does not consistently generate realistic people of color, especially Black people, even when I specifically request them. The AI avatars often look unnatural, generic, or disconnected from the audience I am trying to reach.
As a Black farmer and business owner, I need marketing tools that can accurately represent my community, my customers, and my brand. If the platform is going to offer AI video creation, it needs better avatar diversity, more realistic Black characters, and stronger controls for race, complexion, age, gender, voice, and cultural presentation.
Right now, the lack of realistic representation makes the videos less useful for my business and less authentic for my audience.
