Babysitters have to pay for background check
They make babysitters pay for background screening that starts at $5. That should be for the company to pay. Deleting this app before getting to even use it because I never in my life heard of a company making the employee have to pay for their own background check.

USELESS SCAM!
I downloaded this app when I was desperately trying to find some tutoring work. I am staying at home mom with two kids and need to work and this app was misleading and offering non existent positions. I applied to 60+ jobs and got only two or three responses. No way that people who are looking for tutors are not reviewing all possible options. This website and app was a problem from the beginning- you cannot access website, no contacts, no phone number, no emails, they charged us twice for the first month, then it was impossible to delete the account and cancel subscription. No job found, just wasted time and money.

Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service, you have to file a case and wait up to two days (I waited four) and even if THEY answer a question you didn’t even ask and fail to answer the question you did, they close your case and give you no way to have a direct line to anyone. Will not be subscribing again, gunna try urbansitter or nannylane instead.

Not worth it
Firstly, you can only search for jobs by Zip Code, not city name. I don’t know about you, but I don’t memorize every cities zip code… Second, when I add filters to the search results, they don’t work, everything still shows up, requiring tons of extra time weeding through results. Very poor quality app. I could go one, but I do not recommend it.

Unfair for job seekers
Unfair review from a parent I worked with. This man didn’t show his face on video call and job interview felt more like dating interview. I didn’t accept to meet this man and he wrote a fake review about me. I contacted customer service to remove the review and they denied it.

No support to Caregivers. Their software efforts fail.
Frequent confusion between apps. Care.com when used on an iPad and iPhone does not function as it should more times than not.
Their staff, particularly anyone that can answer questions, impossible to contact. They run an invisible and broken company.
Their systems are broken, and their support to caregivers is absolutely absent. A disgrace.
Shame on you all.

Weird and a lot of competition
A lot of one time visits or not enough hours. And if there is enough hours it’s overnight. A lot of competition that takes all of the good jobs. Then i finally got a great job with great pay and great hours and great job description. Until I met with the parent. First thing she said was that I was too pretty and young and that she didn’t trust me around her older teenage son because we’re too close in age. EXCUSE ME. Weird!! I am an adult and a professional. And I did not do anything to give her that impression. plus my profile pic shows me how I look before we even meet. We weren’t even on the zoom meeting long enough and she said that. Even after i thought that was really inappropriate and weird to say me, especially when i only said two sentences to her, i tried to stay professional. I told her ma’am I understand we’re strangers and you don’t trust me yet so we can do a few trial days cause i really needed a job. She agreed and set up a time to meet at a festival to see how I interact with her three kids (2 that the listing was for and then her teenage son that has nothing to do with the job). I was still really uncomfortable but this what she said would make her trust me and then the lady ghosts me. which i’m not mad about in the slightest cause that is weird to say to someone you’ve only met and just said “hello how are you” and “can you tell me more about the job”. Worst app. Weird people.

AWFUL
had the app for a month, paid for the stupid subscription to be able to make money, everybody on there was totally not real and sketchy, i made zero money. i tried cancelling through the app and kept getting the same email denying my request to cancel my subscription. i then called them to which they gave me my money back and told me they took my card off file. this was almost a year ago. i noticed now at midnight that they charged me 10.99 and i checked my bank and they charged me the same price in february. So they lied about taking my card out of their system and now I have to dispute the charges with my bank and get a whole new debit card

Deceptive “Loop” Billing - Impossible to Cancel
Care.com uses predatory 'dark patterns' to prevent cancellations. When I tried to cancel, the app told me to go to Apple Settings. Apple Settings showed no subscription because I was billed directly. When I tried the website, it blocked my settings and forced me back to the app. I was trapped in a loop designed to keep charging me $10.99/month. I only managed to cancel by forcing a 'Desktop Site' view in a mobile browser to find a hidden link. Absolutely sleazy behavior for a company that claims to be about 'care.'

Useless App
This app is useless. To start with they have disabled the ability to use the web page and you are forced to use the app. Well the app is useless, you are forced to pay for a “care check” subscription to use the app and they have no problem taking your money immediately but I have been unable to use the app. Every time I try to make any update to my profile no matter if it’s to update the hourly rate I charge or update my bio or my availability all I get is an error pop-up message saying “Something went wrong” “Try again”. I have logged out, logged back in, deleted the app, reinstalled the app, nothing helps, I still receive the error message. Customer service is basically nonexistent. I tried calling the phone number in the help section and it does nothing. I have emailed the company at least 2 times and I got 1 reply three days later stating that it’s appears my general info has been updated. Well I can tell you it has not. It is very frustrating to not be able to use an app that you are paying for. Also when I came here just now to write my review I saw it had an update that included bug fixes. So I did the update and guess what…the app is still not working!!!!

They abuse personal data
Be aware, this company has already lost a huge class action lawsuit.
This company DOESN’T CARE, just takes your money and abuses your personal data.
If you sign up, your personal information can be shared with third parties or be stolen by frequent data breaches, including sensitive data like your SSN. There’s plenty of proof that support this, so care.com, you don’t need to reply with your template responses saying “your data is in safe hands”.
The other thing is that their privacy policy is not really followed, and people can’t even fully access their OWN data.
And lastly, care.com “review responders”: don’t ask people to email you like you care when many of us don’t get any response from “customer service” or “privacy policy team”. This company DOESN’T CARE, just takes your money and abuses your personal data.

Worst app I’ve ever used
Completely non-functional, error messages for literally every function. Can’t sign in because of an error message, before I updated I couldn’t load jobs in the search because of an error message, and messages from clients get deleted in the chat even though I can see them in my notifications. Company is so bent on forcing you to use the app that they made their website non-functional, and replaced it with and app that doesn’t work.

Technology kinks
The app itself as far as booking goes it is actually wonderful! But they have a lot of technological kinks they need to sort out. The feed loads slow and always starts back from a week prior, it’s never up to date you have to auto stop the app multiple times! It’s quit annoying when you’re trying to reply in a timely manner. I hope they get it sorted out soon. We shouldn’t have to keep old messages on our app. Especially when a client decides to move forward with someone else.
It’s a waste of space and it is very confusing. Also it keeps sending you false notifications

I relied on this app as my main resource for finding jobs that resulted in long term cases of providing in-home care. Then one day I got banned from the app with no explanation given and no way to talk with someone over the phone, but through an automated email only. I would love to resolve this issue and be able to join the app again.

I believe maybe mid last year the app switched and doesn’t allow you to select recently posted positions. Double charged every month?
They kept double charging me every month, despite me having a single account. Apple informed me that these charges were indeed charges, but Care told me otherwise. That there were no additional charges on their end, that they were just pending charges. Didn’t make any sense, because it was clearly drafted! I even asked Care if there was any way they could check to see if I somehow had a second account, even after I closed one- sent them the confirmation screenshot. They weren’t supposed to charge me again, according to the notice they provided me with upon deleting the account. This gave me the impression that there was a second account, & I even attempted to try my other e-mails, did recovery password reset, only for none of them to work. Didn’t receive any e-mails, which to me meant there were no other account affiliated with any other e-mail. It was away for me to double check, giving Care the benefit of the doubt, that I didn’t have two accounts- that extra mile to be thorough. I asked for a refund, & that’s when they told me they didn’t overcharge me, despite the paperwork- bank statements, as well as a screenshot of the charges from Care’s website via account settings, & it was clear that I was being charged for two accounts. On Care, it showed three charges, but on my bank statement, there was six! The end result? I just changed my card number, because I got tired of the back & forth online communication. I really wish this was a phone conversation. It would’ve been so much easier. I’m drafting review after they made failed attempts to charge my card again, but it was declined, since I changed the card number. Probably from that phantom account. There’s no other way, when I deleted the other one. They even confirmed that it was deleted, by the way. So, why is this still happening, if I didn’t have a second account? They didn’t wanna dig deeper, & this whole ordeal left a bad taste in my mouth.

I’ve been using Care.comfort 10+ years. I’m currently looking for a position and the app won’t even allow me to view jobs unless I pay for their background check. While I don’t have an issue with background checks, and would pass one without issue, I do think it’s a scam to require it before even getting to view jobs. They used to allow you to use the site and view jobs and then if a family requested one they could pay for it or you could take one of your own volition and make it available to families. But using background checks as your annual fee is slimy. Also the new app is an absolute nightmare to navigate and use.

Care used to be a great website to find babysitting jobs. You now have to pay to even look at jobs and apply then you have to pay an additional fee for background checks. Don’t want your time and money.

Feedback
I am a professional caregiver who pays to use this platform. I have a strong history of positive work with families. However, I received two poor ratings after situations where I had to report concerns to Adult Protective Services and could not safely return to the homes.
Caregivers should be allowed to respond to ratings or have situations reviewed, especially when safety or mandated reporting is involved. Our reputations matter.
It is also very difficult to reach support. The chatbot often loops and does not allow real help. Additionally, when applying for jobs the system repeatedly asks for photos or skills even when they are already on the profile, which slows down the process.
Caregivers and families both pay for this service, and there should be a fair system that supports both the family and the caregiver because without the caregiver you have no care.com

Unbelievable.
I almost never write negative reviews, and now I’m writing a SECOND negative review for this app.
The app stopped working and refused to open on my phone. (Yes, I restarted / updated everything.)
I reached out for care support to help fix the app or help me access my messages.
I needed to get on the app so I could communicate with a family about a role. To my horror, I MISSED MY APPOINTMENT with them.
The support team called 2 days later, immediately sent an email saying they had tried to reach me and couldn’t, and when I emailed back and called back, both within 30 seconds, the number was an “unmanned help line” that told me to use the website for help and hung up, and I received an email auto-reply saying records show that my “inquiry has been resolved.”
Oh, and the app still won’t open on my phone. Even though I have another email saying a family has reached out to me, and they just took the monthly amount out of my account.

Don’t use this app
I’m a nanny and I tried using this app to book more nannying gigs, after I set up my profile pay $20 for them to check my registration on my vehicle. They didn’t ask me for almost 8 dollars of a month monthly subscription so I can actually book shifts and after I did that me to access the app every time I open the app, it tells me to set up my profile. I tried going through the website to contact support and every all the tabs on the website that you have to use the app so I literally can’t access anything. Total waist of money!

The app won’t approve my profile pics despite the fact I’m following the guidelines. It won’t approve a picture that is literally just my face.
The links don’t work when I select a tab to navigate to a page like “help”.
They don’t let you preview your profile.
There isn’t a way to filter jobs by hours.
Many people have input jobs incorrectly, the descriptions don’t match, so it’s hard to know what they want and what you’re applying for.
People don’t have to respond to your applications. They should at least be required to select accept or reject so you can be sent an automated response at minimum.
