I recently encountered two scammers pretending to be buyers. They contacted me about my listing and then tried to trick me into clicking an external payment link to “receive payment.” This is a very obvious scam, yet it seems extremely common on Carousell.
Scammers can easily create accounts, message sellers, and send fake payment links. If a seller isn’t careful, they could lose money or personal information (I almost lost all my money in my bank account!)
Carousell seriously needs to do more to prevent this type of fraud. There should be stronger monitoring of suspicious messages and better warnings to protect users. Right now it feels like scammers are everywhere and sellers are left to deal with it themselves.

When I first started using Carousell it was a much better experience but now it’s clear the app is there to make money, the benefits to people trying to buy and sell are secondary. First Carousell removed the tracker of seller responsiveness. This was a big mistake. Previously if a seller was listed as unresponsive one wouldn’t bother trying to do business with them. Now there’s no way no know so the amount of time I’ve wasted with unresponsive sellers is staggering. However this is good for Carousell’s bottom line as people spend more time on the app and see more ads. Second the term “Professional Seller” is misleading yet that is always what comes up first on searches because they pay to have their listings promoted. Many of them are scammers, you make an offer or ask a question and get an auto-reply asking for direct payment. Often they will list items that aren’t available just to get you on their page and only then tell you to cancel your order. As for customer service, forget it. I’ve made many reports about suspicious activity (some of it extremely obvious scams) and nothing has ever come of any of it. In my opinion Carousell has placed profit over safety and that’s why I’m almost ready to give up on this app. Such a shame because it used to be decent but now I maybe get 1 positive transaction out of every 10 attempts and have basically given up trying to use it.

notification settings in the app were turned off, but the company regularly resets them to allow notifications (“listings you’re interested in” and “from carousell”) so that they can send you spam.

Buggy iPad version
I can’t send an email for bugs, I don’t have the option to report bugs on their support page either so I’m doing it here. Someone should be eating their own dog food. The iPad app doesn’t have a way to close out the ad then it loads. I have to close the app and relaunch hoping there is no app. It has been months. Please someone use your own app on iPad and actually do some bug fixing.

Registered for the first time in HK, logging in never worked. Maybe this app only properly works on Android, I don’t know. However, started getting SMS spam the next day.
Very buggy
If you don’t sign up it’s locked to Singapore. Then when you make an account it emails you a code. When you switch out to your email and back it drops the keyboard. You can’t even paste. Terrible app.
Don’t use “Buyer Protection”
Unfortunately, Carousell increasingly tries to push users to exchange money through its opaque “Buyer Protection” program which in addition to charging a fee, also makes both the buyer and seller pay for shipping and then keeps the buyer’s shipping money for itself. Carousell purposefully hides the buyer’s shipping payment from the seller. If you contact support, they will repeatedly refuse to either acknowledge or dispute that this happens, so it appears to be a standard policy of skimming extra money from unsuspecting users.

cannot register. once you go through all the difficulties to get a single account, there are many scams, no show. I hope there will be a replacement of carousell
This app is a joke.
I have never even had an account on this site and it said I was suspended. I know why, because I refused to give you all my personal information. To those of you who are thinking about using this invasive parasitic app be warned, and you can't say you weren't because I'm not the only one who has stated this about this app. In fact those who have used it intensively have said much worse, so l'm glad l didn't get to use it to it's fullest and most invasive.

Wrongfully banned and not helping in anyway
Long story short I was wrongfully banned for reasons that isn’t my fault and they tell me I can’t appeal until whoever the person was fixes their issues, so it’s my fault that some person messed up and now I can’t access my account no warning, nothing at all ( such a waste of time trying to appeal when they don’t listen )

Received a hateful racist review with my phone number alongside it and I’ve sent multiple reports and an email regarding the situation but got no assistant or any punishment/removal brought forth toward the user.

I have turned off all notifications within the app but it still sending me notification. Have to turn it off completely from the system itself.
Carousell asks to access all my photo library to use the camera
Carousell is forcing me to share my whole photo library to use the camera. Sharing managed photos is not enough.

Impossible to change system message language
I am currently living in Malaysia where English is used everywhere. All of my adverts are in English. All of the communication to me is in English
BUT for some reason all of the system messages to me are in Malay. A language I don’t know as I am not from here.
So I get messages that I guess are about renewal or whether something has been sold or not, but I am guessing.
I have struggled through the useless help system to see if it is possible to switch the language but it seems it wants to be too smart and force a language on you.
I can only imagine it is like this in Thailand, China, Korea, Russia and various other countries .
This should be EASY to implement in the settings area, but it isn’t.

Overall the app is great and in theory very useful. In actuality 90% of chats and offers are from scammers trying to cheat you
Inconsistent App
I discontinued my subscription after 1 year. So obviously I had the impression that my latest listings will be kept and the rest deactivated. Instead, the app randomly took 30 listings and activated it. Rest of my postings including my most recent ones were deleted at random.
Obviously, without a subscription, I am limited to 30 listings. The app should retain the latest 30 lists or some sort of logic e.g. most likes, most clicks etc. But not random picks!

Gets an immediate “error” pop up no matter what category I pic and tells me to visit the website. How about no. If I could rate zero stars, I would.

Terrible App
This app continues to return bad error messages when trying to really do anything. I tried contact support and it’s an endless loop that gets you absolutely nowhere. I design apps for a living and I would fire the developer who is responsible for that before I do anything else. What a joke of a user experience. Imagine if you’re account is hacked or worse, and you actually need to speak with someone… good luck using this Elmer’s glue and chewed bubble gum platform.

App Suddenly Blocked Several Countries from Using It
I had an account on Carousell with hundreds of listings. I used it for awhile, was a featured seller and they even sent me a swag bag in the mail. All of the sudden, I couldn’t login anymore. When I try to sign in, I’m told my country (United States) isn’t supported. There was no warning or heads up before this happened. Disappointing.
Error Bad Request
app does not work. I've turned my phone on and off, turned WiFi on and off, reinstalled the app and nothing works! I can't search for anything without an error message popping up redirecting me to customer service, but there's no solution!
