Replaced Helpful Expert Questions With a Horrible AI
I used to go to Chegg for their useful “Send your question to an expert” feature, however they removed this and i promptly canceled my subscription. Their AI can’t understand the complex questions I need help with and either answers incorrectly, or simply says it can’t answer my question. Chegg used to be amazing, but now it’s just another AI slop application.

Chegg used to be a staple throughout my college years, helping me when even my professors couldn’t. After some time away, I came back only to find that the platform has completely changed-and not for the better.
AI has taken over, and the expert help that made Chegg valuable is essentially gone. You can no longer submit images of your questions, which was one of the most useful features. If your exact question isn’t already in Chegg’s system, you’re basically out of luck-and even the AI often falls short.
I’m currently taking biochemistry, and every time I tried to get help, I kept hitting dead ends. I couldn’t understand why my images wouldn’t upload, only to find out (after calling customer service) that the feature had been removed entirely. That was incredibly frustrating, especially when my professor wasn’t available and I needed real support.
Chegg used to feel like a hidden gem, but now it just feels like another generic AI platform. In trying to keep up with trends, they’ve lost what actually made them useful-real human help. Students and experts alike deserved better than this shift, especially at $20 a month.
I cancelled my subscription immediately.

Horrible Ai update
Chemistry student here, i signed up for this app because it used to help me with specific problems that an “expert” could help me with. welp no more ! now due to the new update this horrible app decided to do, everything is checked by ai and has to be ran by the ai first. So no more can you do homework and ask for help, the app no longer can do that for you since they have implemented this stupid ai program. what was once a decent app for helping me learn chemistry is now one of the biggest rip offs i’ve ever come across. If i wanted ai help i would go some where better. this app truly sucks now.

I literally subscribed to this subscription and it didn’t load up the answers. I tried exiting and entering the app as a refresher and got my account banned for “unusual activity.” I did not get the services of I payed for and got suspended instead. I want a refund.
If I could give zero stars
Chegg used to be my go to but now that they’ve taken away the expert tab and replaced it with ai, it’s seriously trash. This is my first time even writing a review for an app. I’ll be canceling my subscription. If I wanted ai I would use chat gbt rather than pay a bunch of money for it. Restructuring was probably the worst thing they could have done. Now they have experts to “review the ai responses.” 0/5 stars from me.
Scam chegg
It’s a scam. They don’t have any of the answers I asked took my money didn’t help once I try asking their expert but they don’t ever get back to you. Never they gotten back to me. Is stupid how you pay for it and is still helpless. Don’t buy it I made mistake.

Do NOT use anything CHEGG
I spent quite a bit of time creating literally 1000 Flashcards with which to study. You can imagine how long it took to create both Front and Back of these cards, only to have CHEGG discontinue the app I was using and then offer a replacement.
Okay, no problem. I have an account, and all my hard work and tremendous time spent should be saved, right…? Wrong.
I have been unable to access my cards ever since they discontinued the old app. I cannot even sign in! When I tried I was prompted to change my password. Okay, I’ll do that. Then, once I changed my password, the app would not allow me to sign in. I kept receiving a message that said “There is already an account with that username/email.’ Yeah, no kidding - It’s ME!!! So I tried both my old password AND the one they just required me to change it into. I keep getting the same message.
So if your goal is to spend HOURS creating flashcards, only to lose them all, by all means create an account with this dysfunctional app. But if your plan is to spend your time studying, do yourself a favor - DO NOT USE THIS APP!!!
Consider yourself warned.

This was the App creator’s response to the above complaint:
"Hi, our flashcards service has been taken offline while we make some changes to our product. Keep an eye out for future updates to this and other features!"
Well, that does not address any of my concerns. And if you consider that it has been about a year since I lost all my saved flashcards, the answer makes even less sense. According to the answer they have been offline for a year in order to make changes….
Again, I cannot reiterate enough - DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME USING THESE APPS OR YOU MAY SUFFER THE SAME FATE I DID AND LOSE ALL YOUR HARD WORK.

Chegg review
When I was looking for an app to help with my Academics it said nothing to have to pay but when I try to ask a question it says I have to get a subscription and pay for it but it never said anything about having to pay or anything and im not sure If there’s much for me to do on it.

dont waste your money, half the answers are misspelled and GIBBERISH. if u have two devices dont even think abt throwing ur money into this useless void. it is so glitchy and bugged, AND they are continuously falsely advertising an hbo MAX subscription as a bundle if u subscribe but its been nuked since august! New update sucks
I can’t do my homework because the new honor code update accuses you of taking an exam. By doing this it robs customers of their money because they can’t ask questions freely. My class does not do online exams at ALL but somehow chegg is accusing me of so. This is beyond frustrating paying for a membership that I can’t even use bc it stops you from being able to use the app for 24 hours

This app is riddled with bugs. I have been trying to access quest for at least 7days now. But it tells me to change device and relog in. I have done this process like 22 times already and it’s not an exaggeration. Their IT team is not helpful as well. I have been going back and forth with them in this issue for about 6days now and they keep on circumlocuting as if they don’t understand what the problem is. Quite frustrating! I’d be careful before I waste my money next time. You do same too
“Experts” have become AI
In the past month or so whenever I submit something for an “expert” to answer I just get a literal CahtGPT response. I run it through AI checkers and they will all say it is 97-99% AI. Why waste your money if you’re just going to be getting the same AI slop that you could get for free elsewhere.

Will look up question and suggested ones that have been answered will just show a task bar that it’s been answered but no response same with the limited question you get per month, will get the email that it’s been answered but no answer will be shown at all

Horrible reliability, half the time I have to use a browser and go to the website to see the answer the app just says it’s been answered and doesn’t show anything. On top of that you only get one device you can “register” the app to that’s just pathetically greedy.

I used to love chegg but recently most solutions have been removed and you’re just not getting value out of your subscription anymore
Formatting
The format on computer is awful. The solutions is trapped in a tiny narrow column and there is no way to wide screen it. Scrolling back and forth, up and down… so annoying and hard to read formula to learn how to solve. There should be a way to turn on the AI comparison feature. It is useless and takes up so much space.
Money hungry app…
I’ve seen multiple reviews of the same issues and it has yet to be resolved. It’s a huge disappointment and waste of money. I’ve spoken with Chegg support multiple times about not being able to see the expert solutions and it hasn’t been resolved. Why as the consumer should we waste our hard earned money on an app that’s choosing not to listen to the customers when an issue occurs. I canceled my subscription.
Don’t purchase
I’ve been getting charged for chegg for over a year now and I thought I had canceled my subscription. The help questions aren’t accurate because it says I should find it under order but the only option that shows up in my account is to delete my account and I don’t think that will solve my issue of being charged every month. I’ve been out ou school for almost a year now and just realized I’ve been paying chef monthly.

It seems like every couple of weeks, a new issues arises. They just patched some bugs and now new ones pop up. For the price, it’s more than frustrating

Within the last month I have had so many issues with Chegg with no resolution. It’s like I’m paying for a waste of space on my phone. Nothing is loading and is becoming difficult. I use Chegg to help when I am stuck and it’s been a constant hassle the last month.

Used this app to help me better understand my accounting class. It stopped working after my midterm. I would send a question and it would generate answers, but if I clicked on them it would not give me the information and say “this has been sent to an expert”. Uninstalled and reinstalled app. Still didn’t work.
Unreliable
It’s a hit or miss. You either get the answer and the proper solution or, most often, you’ll get the wrong answer and the wrong solution. Not worth the money!!

Bad Customer Experience
You can’t change your email no matter how many times you attempt to. Additionally, this whole platform makes it seem like you are at fault if you view some material a university doesn’t like. Chegg will happily send over your name, email, and even banking information to a university even if you don’t even attend if it is copy righted.

Bring Back the Old Chegg
I absolutely loved Chegg before all of the AI auto-generated answering. The answers were helpful, detailed, cohesive, coherent, and actually helped me learn content. Now, 70% of the time I get a barely coherent, in-cohesive mess of buzz-terms and key words that are irrelevant to actually solving the problem. Not only that, but more than half the time, the answer or the method to find the answer is WRONG. It is so disappointing to see a genuinely good study app for high school and college students that I used for 4 years through the latter parts of high school and early parts of college to further my studying and understanding become something so frustrating that I don’t even use it up to the end of the subscription period, just delete the app and wish companies would stop being lazy and replacing human knowledge with AI.
All 32 questions submitted were WRONG
Chegg is a scam lately. I paid the monthly subscription plus extra to submit more questions and every single one as well as resubmissions were wrong. They were intro level calculus questions. Complete waste of money and time.

Worst App Ever, Not Exaggerating
Had the previous version of this app, which I invested countless hours making important flash cards. I honestly had hundreds of flash cards. When the app got updated, about a year ago, it removed all of my work without notice, explanation, or apology. And now, they make it extremely complicated to delete or deactivate your account. This is a criminal company, IMO.

Save your money. Such an annoying and inconvenient app. Will suspend you at any normal activity WAY too many restrictions. Half of the times the “experts” give you wrong answers (especially if you’re in stem). Does not allow other devices for the same account. I had to subscribe to so many different accounts just for it to do its job. There are other apps/websites you can use that does a better job than Chegg (such as course hero) and significantly less restrictions. Also I heard that chegg is being bought out by universities to expose people who are using their platforms and “cheating”. If I could give them 0 or even negative stars I would.

I graduated in the spring. I’ve cancelled my Chegg subscription multiple times, they just say it’s cancelled and then continue charging me. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS SCAM. Just use chatgpt for free like everyone else. I’m going to have to dispute the charge with my bank because there’s no other way to stop this company for stealing from me every month. DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION.
Limited and clunky
Limited to 15 flashcards in a set, and the format was very irritating to navigate (especially in that you have to open a new menu from the main menu just to access flashcard sets).
