You say you’re listening to your audience and doing what people want, but what the people want is NOT AI. This app has turned into absolute garbage. Pixelberry is a lazy company trying to get money without doing any actual work. You will not be getting any money from me as long as the app continues to go downhill.

I have loved this app for years, but it’s just gone so far downhill lately. My last straw was when they fired their good writers and cancelled their latest projects that were in progress. Scream For Me in particular was one of the best, most exciting stories they’ve put forth in years, and they just straight up axed it with a trash cliffhanger on episode 5. So disrespectful to their fans and paying customers. I’ve been a VIP for years, but with this kind of behavior and the general lack of quality in recent releases, I can’t justify paying $14.99 a month for this content anymore.

I have played Choices for years, and have been a VIP subscriber for much of that time. Not anymore. The last story I read, Scream For Me, was originally supposed to be a 16 chapter book, and it was then cut down to only 5. Nothing about it was wrapped up or finished, it was left hanging in the middle. They couldn’t even care to give us a finished story, and the amount of diamonds I spent on that book was atrocious for what I got. It had potential, but since PixelBerry was sold out and fired most of their artists and writers, it’s been an AI cash grab. Don’t even get me started on the next “story” Heroes 2. It’s all an ai show with no choices whatsoever. I’m so disappointed that I’ve canceled my subscription. If they can no longer care about giving me the quality of the stories I’m used to, then I no longer care about giving them the money they want. It was fun while it lasted.

Used to be an amazing app created by talented writers and artists. Now everything..and I mean everything…is AI. And not even good bro

I’ve been playing this game for YEARS. Purchased VIP the moment it was introduced. Im seconds away from cancelling my subscription. The weird Hero ‘movie’ was one thing but today the ‘Scream for me book’ was finished with an abrupt incomplete storyline. Feels like robbery with using my diamonds that I spend money on. I’m actually so disappointed with what this game has become because I used to genuinely love it. If books are started they should be finished to completion or our money back… To do it to one book only says it will happen again. You guys really need to reevaluate these decisions and remedy them or you will lose credibility and your loyal fan base. Do better :(

Not only has AI taken over the app, I just finished one of the newest books that was only 5 chapters, which is bad enough when we used to get 15+, but the story ended so abruptly I was literally shocked. No closure, no explanation, it just ended randomly. Also, the diamond choices have gotten almost twice as expensive. This used to be the best stories app, now it’s swiftly becoming the worst.

You guys suck. I used to love you guys back in the day the stories are good and real. The royal romance series, high school stories freshman OMG, what happened go back to your roots if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

See I used to love this app and I would give it 5 stars but they have sold out they now use ai to generate the script and images they fired the talented artists for slop and don’t even get me started on the hero sequel the first hero book was my favorite in the entire game and the sequel just ruined everything at one point in time I used the vip service not anymore this I feel is the end of choices

where there used to be thoughtful stories, there is now only soulless AI-generated slop with no real substance. it's so sad to see the decline of an app that was supposed to care about impactful storytelling. every new book is homogeneous, bland, vapid, and beyond boring because pixelberry is more focused on generating revenue for shareholders than crafting a quality interactive story for players. the characters don't have personalities anymore, the stories are overly predictable, the dialogue is heinously bad, and the art department is nonexistent. heartbreaking to see this app devolve into trash.

I’ve been playing Choices since literally day one, when it was only The Freshman, The Crown And The Flame, and Most wanted, and it’s so disappointing with how they’ve turned out. No one wants AI. The Hero “sequel” being an AI generated “show” was the last straw I will probably be cancelling VIP soon.

ads are broken, either won’t play, says i ended it too soon and can’t get the reward, or the X button in the corner won’t work and end the ad so i can claim the reward
paid scenes are so short now, it’s ridiculous paying 30 diamonds for 15 extra lines of dialogue. typos are also getting more common
EDIT: tried to ask for help and they basically can’t do anything! so that’s lame. don’t understand why they can’t fix the ads in their own game. was given 15 diamond which will buy 1 (one) premium choice

I’ve supported pixelberry since the days of HSS story and the direction of choices now is sad. Taking a highly anticipated sequel of a story they swore to be cancelled just to make it AI slop with 0 choices in the game named “choices” is just sad. Stop hiding behind the few human devs you have left and just go full AI at this point.

I have played this game for years and it is no longer even close to what it used to be. The use of generative AI for the new stories and art has destroyed the integrity and enjoyment of this app. The story lines are flat and the art is borderline copyrighted (look at the new “Hero” AI slop that Pixelberry was forced to delete because it was basically an AI-generated Captain Marvel). This game has completely lost its soul. It is no longer captivating or witty. I’m horribly disappointed in Pixelberry for these changes and for firing your talented writers and artists. They will likely respond to this review with a link that “explains their recent decisions”. Well, I have read that, and I am here to tell you that AI is not at all improving the gameplay, despite what the blogpost says. We don’t need stories “faster”. We need them created with the same love and care they always have been. Your users can tell. You say your “team of real people” are the ones training the AI. If that is so, where is the dang quality check?? Why are there so many flaws when it used to be near flawless?? Disgusting. Useless. Horribly disappointed.

What was once a really fun batch of stories made with a lot of heart has been replaced with absolute AI slop that looks bad, is badly written, and has no actual human feeling to it. Real shame what happened here.

Completely AI not and the company silences the people who disagree with the app. Do not think it’s worth it

Ridiculous how you have to pay so much just to unlock ONE scene. Not even enjoyable at that point. And you BARELY get any gems to start with let alone when you join the game daily. BEYOND ridiculous. 💀

UPDATE 3/29/26: THEY FIRED MOST OF THE FEW WRITERS WHO WERE ACTUALLY LEFT! Do not give this app a single cent because the bigwigs clearly don’t care about real art made by humans, putting people out of a job, or customer satisfaction. They would get MORE money if everything was human-made like it used to be, but no. All they care about is maximum profit for minimum effort.
Few pros but MANY cons:
Pros: -Books before the AI era (2023) are well written with interesting stories and characters and beautiful art
-Free to play friendly: They are very generous with free gems and you can rack up a ton in a week by watching their daily ads.
-Anime Art Style: Let me be clear. The anime ART STYLE they are doing for the High School Story remake is good, but the REDESIGNS for the characters are bad, a lot don’t even resemble their original counterparts. Yes, the remake is from a Chinese app, but they fixed Caleb to be accurate but not other characters??? But regardless with the anime art style, our character smiling all the time is way more bearable than in that 3D-looking art style the other books have.
Cons: -AI art in newer books (2023 and later): With all this AI art, the newer stories are soulless. As a reader you don’t care about the plot, the characters, none of it.
-Same old stories: They’ve done a few stories with interesting ideas based of classics like Little Red Riding Hood (The Cursed Cloak) and Harry Potter (The Elementalists), but still no fairy, mermaid, or Wonderland inspired books? There have been many adaptations from other movie studios and authors, so I’d love to see how those stories would be in Choices format. Nowadays, they just retell the same story they’ve already done. For example, Wolf Bride was good, but after the second “werewolf” story, the genre gets old, and there are now at least 4 books with werewolves in them. Also, a lot of the newer books feel the same. You meet your love interest within a few seconds of starting the smut-filled story and they are completely smitten with you but don’t actually give you the choice to stay single if you want to. And trust me, with the newer books you WANT to because of reason number 3…
-Less options for love interests: There used to be 4 different options for love interests, and in a lot of older books you could even stay single. Now, lots of the newer books have only 1 or 2 love interests only, and because none of them are attractive now you don’t want to be with them, but you are forced to because THEY REMOVED THE OPTION TO STAY SINGLE!!!
-MC has zero personality: We’re always the same “happy go lucky” MC who is overly positive and smiles in nearly every single dialogue box. It’s ANNOYING. Even optimistic people aren’t THIS happy in real life. Just once, I’d like to play as a nonchalant character because I’m nonchalant in real life. Or better yet, why not revamp the character customization to include a good range of faces used previously instead of only getting 4 options, as well as adding personality types? The personalities don’t even need to have much of an effect on the story at this point, just something along the lines of a more timid MC will look more sad a lot of times, and a nonchalant MC will have the blank resting face more often rather than smiling when the situation doesn’t call for it.
-Choices don’t actually matter in newer books: The newer books are suffering from what Pokemon is recently being criticized for, which is the same options just worded differently. With certain choices we can’t say no if we want to, it’s either yes, yes, or yes with agency. The game is called CHOICES but they’ve forgotten that since the AI era!!!
-Pilot Books: They’ve announced that 3 of the Pilot books will remain unfinished for now because of low player engagement, but this is such an easy fix. First off, of course there’s low player engagement. We can only replay the same 2-3 chapters for only so long. That doesn’t mean we don’t want them to be discontinued! Second, STOP MAKING NEW BOOKS AND FINISH THE PILOTS! A lot of the newer books aren’t good anyways, and the pilots have some really interesting ideas (especially The Royal Wedding Planner), probably because they’re most likely written by an actual human, so why not slow down new releases to finish them? Also, some newer books get to skip the Pilot phase and just be released as is, which is NOT fair. Third, why would you risk disappointing fans like this??? A good way to have people like myself angry at you.
-Missing QoL features: A option to disable the text, textbox, and character boxes from shaking would be nice. Lots of newer books do these far too much and it’s infuriating how dramatic characters are being when the situation isn’t that shocking or intense.
Overall, they’ve done multiple player surveys over the years, and there have been very little changes. I’ve been playing since they’ve released and I am very disappointed in how they’re doing nothing major and new with the app :(

Ever since the most recent update, I cannot open the app. The loading screen is stuck in buffering mode, and I’ve tried everything to fix it.
I love this app, but would really appreciate if the PB team could fix this ASAP because a ton of us haven’t been able to play for weeks.

I don’t know what’s going on with this new update but now I can’t open choices ??? It says it’s an update and when I click it it kicks me off !?!? Can someone please look into this !

I’ve been playing for nearly ten years now, and this has been one of my favorite games, but it’s gotten so lazy. The best qualities of it are gone, the writing and art replaced with AI that can’t even manage a half decent storyline, and the recreating of past books with AI is terrible.
Abandoning creative ideas like the It Lives anthology or the Heist is terrifying especially just to produce unoriginal slop through AI. I feel terrible to know I’ve spent money on this game only for the artists to be replaced with an image generator. It’s a shame such a good app ended up so badly.

What used to be easily the best option for choose your adventure type games, is now just AI slop made to churn out the worst quality content to make money with the least amount of effort. Literally every book now has an ai cover, the same characters, same story structure really. Terrible company/developer who sold their soul and passion because they were too lazy to build their own stories. If you’re going to get this game, just play Endless Summer. I come back every once in a while just to do that one cause it’s the best thing that has ever come out of this game and is a prime artifact from a time when these losers actually put some effort in. Just play that or HSS or Crown and the Flame or another one of the originals that came out in Choices’ early days, which was also its prime. Don’t bother reading any of the new ones, you’ll lose brain cells.

I played and paid for years and stopped because the art style was beginning to look hideous. I recently came back after finding about a sequel to one of my favorite stories but all of the stories still have this same hideous ai art style if I could get my money back I would.

I used to be a regular player and have been playing for years but frankly the stories are just not worth it anymore. Not only does every story feel the same and completely copy and paste besides maybe the setting, all the characters look really bad. I’m a guy and the male mc faces recently have been incredibly weird, especially the white mc. They keep using this face that actually scares me when it smiles. I honestly used to love this app bc of the goc option which a lot of other apps don’t have but every single new story has had just the worst face options possible. GOC might as well stand for “goblin of choice” at this point.
Not only that, it feels like the whole game is pay to play now. I don’t have vip but a lot of people I’ve talked to that have it say they STILL have to buy diamonds outside of vip because of how expensive choices are now and how if you don’t choose the diamond options the books are boring and bland. I’ve been putting off reading a lot of books specifically because I just don’t have enough diamonds to enjoy them.
It’s because of all this I’ve finally decided to delete the app. I just don’t think it’s worth the time and money you have to put into it to actually have fun. Even less so when I can’t even look at my mc without cringing. It was fun while it lasted but I’m out ✌🏻

Let me start by saying I love Choices. I have been playing it for seven years; I love the characters, the story concepts, everything. But lately I’ve noticed that the app is taking longer to load. I don’t know if it’s the app itself or what, but if it is then please fix it so I can get back to enjoying it again

Don’t put a book at 12:00pm to look at on your choices apps. Put a book at 11:00am not 12:00pm.

App Store doesn’t show the new updated app in the store. Everytime I open the app it tells me to upgrade. Please Help Me

A.i slop, and delete bad reviews

Logging in the app claims there is an update. But there is literally no update and then it kicks you out of the app. It has been this way nearly two weeks. Last time this happened was told to simply use another device. I’m irritated. Consider the VIP subscription cancelled.

I really liked this app, so much so that I was willing to overlook when the plots of certain books came a little to close to popular shows or books. However I cannot, especially in this water crisis, continue to support and use an app that uses generative AI knowing how much it’s destroying our environment. I urge everyone to looks into the implications of AI and ask yourself if you can support an app and company that use it in every day workflow.

The stories are amazing, but the amount of diamonds you need to get good choices is INSANE. It’s horrible. And you don’t even get that many from completing chapters or doing those small quests. It’s pathetic that you need VIP for an outrageous FIFTEEN DOLLARS A MONTH just to get TWO more diamonds for each chapter. Absolutely horrible.

The gems and keys system is intolerable. One story that I could barely finish was enough for me to see what this app is really like. I’M DONE!

Been using this app for as long as I can remember. Opened this app up to a bunch of soulless, AI-generated slop. What I can say is that AI will ruin this app. The people crave for real stories with a well-developed plot, the AI just isn’t giving that. Have to say goodbye for now

I really enjoyed this for a long time until I discovered how much AI they are using. If I’m going to invest time and money in something like this, I want real artists and writers to benefit. I’m not here for regurgitated slop based on stolen content. That’s without going into the extreme water and energy demands of GenAI. No thanks.

Having to spend money just to say “yes” in these stories is ridiculous. Don’t give these greedy jerks your money.

I regret ever downloading and using this app. If I’m paying money for in-app purchases I want it to go to real human beings who actually put in the work, not some capitalist shill who offshores the work to a machine. The art is so obviously AI that I wouldn’t be surprised if the writing is too. The people in charge of this deserve every negative review.

I’ve been using this app tor YEARS and I never have felt more appalled than the moment I realized they fully re-released an older story just so they can use AI art!! meanwhile they’re actual original stories are hidden behind VIP pay walls. This company stopped caring about supporting an ethical creative team and providing well thought out stories to their player base a long time ago.

I've been playing this game quite literally since 2015 when I came across it. I didn't have any money but played so many stories. I revisited about two years ago and got very very obsessed with the game again. I went through a phase where I didn't play and when I came back I noticed ALL of the AI usage in covers now:( I can't help but imagine AI is also being used to write these books. Please bring back hand drawn covers and keep supporting authors!!!!

I used to really like this game and thought the stories were all very well written with great art. But now, every new story is riddled with ugly AI art. It’s really disappointing the direction that this game is going with AI. I miss when it embraced actual writing and art done by real people. But I guess churning out as much slop as possible to make more money is all that matters.

This game used to be a 5/5 to me. The stories were amazing, dramatic, emotional, and heartwarming. But then the company was sold and they started using AI. The art and stories that have come out in the years since have been genuinely awful. They clearly don’t care to change it since people have been complaining here and on social media for a long time and they continue to pump out AI slop stories again and again while saying over and over “thanks for the feedback, we’ll take that into account” with no change. They want quick and easy money. The changes made have been extremely gross, messy, and immoral.

Why is everything sexual and romance.

I used to enjoy this app very much, it had a bunch of stories where I could play as I am (a gay man) which is not typical for a lotta these romance apps. Only now, it has been sold to a different company and all the art is AI. Deleting the app and never gonna use it again, sad to see it he ruined by garbage AI art.

I’ve been a loyal Choices player for nearly a decade, and this latest experience sealed my decision to walk away. Their “Black Friday” diamond deal is a random pop-up you have to catch-not available in the in-app purchase section like any modern platform. When I contacted support hoping to actually spend money on the deal, I received nothing but vague, passive replies that completely sidestepped my questions.
A Black Friday sale that isn’t actually available on Black Friday? And no ability (or willingness) to assist a long-time player? It’s a baffling, frustrating, and frankly dismissive way to treat customers. Once my VIP runs out and I use the purchases I’ve already made, I’ll be deleting my account. Do better!

It’s sad that the brown skin characters in a lot of these new books are almost as light as the other characters. Please do better with the diversity.

I actually used to really like this game. It was such a fun way to relax and unwind with a game where you made the choices. Unfortunately, after years of playing I find I’m no longer drawn to the app for a few reasons.
One being the new books just feel repetitive of the old ones or of stories that are told time and again. I find the plot lacking and the stories unenjoyable.
Two is the way they keep pushing out new stories yet discontinue or scrap older ones due to “low player engagement” despite how good they were or how they were left in a cliff hanger FOR A SEQUEL that will never be written because they rather profit over enjoyment nowadays.
Third the firing of several of the artists and staff despite the app being around for ten years is a gross miss step on the companies part. I get wanting to go ins new direction but to fire excellent staff for AI is ridiculous especially when all these new “AI” stories are terrible.
Overall, the game is not as fun as it used to be and will probably be a waste of your time.

This game used to be so fun! The stories were exciting, thrilling, and choices you made actually after the projectory of the story. After checking back in since Covid. I noticed how lazy the stories have become. All of the artwork, that used to be made by humans, is AI. It seems the writing is clearly AI as well. Their inclusive, creative, and adventure packed stories set them apart from other games like Chapters or Episode. Now it seems like they have gone in that direction. Every other story is ‘steamy’. What happened to the adventure? The action? The HUMAN writing. Not to mention the fact that the stories drybeg for diamonds every other minute. I recently got VIP, and I noticed an uptick in diamond quests. There used to be diamond quests a few times in an episode, it is double now. Do better. It’s so disappointing that this app has gone downhill over the last few years. If you go back to their earlier works, you will see how good it was compared to now.
I WILL NOT BE SUPPORTING THIS APP ANY LONGER IF IT CONTINUES TO STEAL PEOPLE’s MONEY BY USING AI.

I used to LOVE Choices and genuinely some of the storylines had me clinging onto every word but recently it feels unauthentic and AI written. The relationships with the characters feel rushed and I believe I saw recently that story writers were laid off. That was my last straw, I deleted my subscription and it’s really a shame because I feel like there’s no other story apps that were NEARLY as affordable, fun, and genuinely entertaining as this one. If it changes back then I’d be happy to resubscribe
