Modern art assets are completely AI generated and were never given a second look through, which is made evident due to the parent company (Slop-- sorry, Series Entertainment) and the original creators (Pixelberry) going through many, many layoffs. Modern updates consist of begging the player to go to Series' run.tv app which is completely AI generated, and consists of both slop and slop made out of beloved titles on Choices before Pixelberry's acquisition.

It’s Just AI Now
I had played Choices for years, since it had maybe a dozen of stories in total. I have spent far too much money on it over the years, but I always felt that it was worth it because the stories were always so enjoyable.
Over the past year or two, the entirety of the platform has become AI slop. It started with AI art covers, and then became unintelligible continuations of stories that had been abandoned years ago.
If you do not have concerns with the ethics of AI use as I do, you will still be disappointed because the stories created with it are god-awful.
Choices is now only enjoyable in as much as you can go back and experience the stories from before the influx of AI garbage.

I really enjoyed this game when I was younger but it’s turned into a site full of AI. The game used to be owned by *human* writers and artists who filled their stories with love and care. Desire and Decorum is a great example of that; witty jokes, gorgeous wardrobes, and a cast of romanceables anyone could find a favorite in. However, the new company is lazy and uses AI on each new book and it’s hard to get away from. I really miss the old company.
Layoffs + AI Slop
I’ve played Choices since 2018, but ever since it was bought by the AI company Series Entertainment, it’s taken a nosedive. Now they have laid off most of their human writers and replaced it with AI slop. Shameful.

i've been playing for years, loving the well-thought out stories (endless summer, the crown and the flame, open heart) but it's just turned into ai ai ai. why is hero volume 2, one of the most highly anticipated sequels readers have been begging for years, just ai videos??? no one wants to watch that. we want to actually read, play, and make choices like we have been since the app released. i have loved these stories for a very long time, but i'm extremely disappointed in the direction pixelberry is headed.
AI ruins everything
This app was one of my favorites! I have been playing since 2017 and a VIP member since 2020, it was the perfect app and the stories were so entertaining and interesting compared to every other storytelling app so much so that it kept me coming back. I have not played in about a month, I reopened the app excited to see updates in stories like Hero and It Lives Within ONLY TO BE TAKEN TO ANOTHER PLATFORM of mini series video shorts?! Which completely takes away from the experience with choice based stories :( The AI art style and voice work was the final nail in the coffin…after almost 10 years I have uninstalled Choices and fear that I may never find anything like what it was when I first started playing the stories :( AI SUCKS!

Since they were bought out they started using ai for covers and backgrounds.

Disappointing AI slop
After playing choices for ten years, I finally deleted the app. There is nothing there anymore for their readers. AI is being used to mass produce generic stories that don’t even make sense.

What’s Happening?
I have had this game for almost 10 years and I use to love so many of their books but recently the books have been HORRIBLE! It’s gotten to the point where I just reread old stories because the new stuff they are releasing is TRASH! what really made me write this review was the absolutely horrible ending for scream for me!I don’t understand why or what’s happening to this game and it’s super disappointing because i really did enjoy reading these stories. They don’t even listen to what the readers are saying and i really am considering deleting my vip membership and maybe even the whole game altogether. I guess i will have to find another game that has better stories and has developers that actually listen to what we are trying to tell them. If you are considering getting this game and a vip membership i suggest you don’t waste your time or money.
Loyal player but choices isn’t the same anymore
Played this game for as long as I can remember. With the quality of the game being down and honestly kinda weird, the art, sprite and storylines of the game somehow being way worse than before and the integration of AI in their stories is something I cannot support. It is not the same. I am only playing to relive the old stories but many if not all of the newer stories are not as good and interesting. Please bring back the quality we all used to love this game for.

there’s no actual care or talent that goes into this game anymore, it’s just soulless ai generated trash that has no interesting plot or anything that makes it unique. it’s such a shame too, because I loved the old stories that the app had but I can’t even make it through one episode of any of the new ones

Choices, I don’t know what’s with the whole run TV thing and the AI??? But I’m not feeling this whole new update or layout. Especially the hero volume 2 what happened to STORIES YOU PLAY! I miss when this was about stories and not money. This game was good because it had good stories, I never minded grinding for gems. Now it’s all cliche AI slop, and highly anticipated sequels are just AI “movies”. It’s disgusting and disappointing. I’ve been playing this game for years on and off some good storylines came from it in the beginning but everything now is pretty much AI down to the script and a pay to play question every few minutes. Don’t waste time or money.
AI Garbage
I’ve been an artist and a writer all my life and used to love what the team at Choices created. I’ve supported this app loudly since the day it came out. If you’re switching to anti human AI garbage to finish stories that real people once put their hearts and souls into, I don’t even have words to describe my disappointment. I know you won’t care about this review because you care more about the money now. But I am about as heartbroken as a person can be.

Every new book uses AI. I’ve been playing Choices for a long time and the game I used to love no longer exists. There’s no original art anymore. It’s all AI.
TOO MUCH AI
I’ve been playing choices since around when it started and have always loved it until it got bought out by a company that puts AI first and doesn’t listen to its customers. All of the new books just have AI images and AI writing. These new owners only care about money. No one asked for run tv slop. I loved Choices how it was before all of the steamy smut single LI stories that don’t offer any real choices that affect the story. No one needed “AI advancement” which is just destroying artists’ & writers’ jobs and also harming the environment. Not worth it. Bring the old Choices stories back.

This app had such great stories but has progressively gotten worse, writing quality has gone down, AI sprites in the uncanny valley, and now just repurposing the old stories into AI videos
Massively Disappointed
I have played this app since launch. I have been a huge fan of it for YEARS and yes, there have always been run of the mill stories with lazy writing and annoying characters, but the thing that has made the app so much fun for me is the fact that they were REAL stories written by REAL people, the same people who wrote High School Story when I played it in middle school. I have always been a Pixelberry fan and I have always thought that this app was the superior interactive visual novel game. I haven’t read any of the new stories because honestly? None of them have interested me. So I wasn’t aware that this app was using AI in its writing and art. Still, the old stories don’t have that problem and I’m happy to engage with those, or at least I was. Partnering with an AI movie company to bring back two of the most beloved series on this app (one of which was canceled prematurely) is my last straw. I’m so deeply saddened by this. This was my comfort app. This was a huge part of my childhood and now it has been tainted.

Everything on this app has really gone downhill since they started incorporating generative AI, but their new expansion into short form videos really shows just how low they’ve gone. Besides locking fan-anticipated sequels behind VIP and removing the interactivity from them (I.e. there are no “choices” in Choices), they have blatantly plagiarized fan works like It Lives Within. This includes putting fanart into whatever AI system they use without the artists’ consent. I’ve given this app a lot of grace so far, but genuinely they are scraping the bottom of the barrel and still expect fans to be grateful. Play other games.

Not gonna be playing or supporting this disingenuous nonsense anymore. I’m not putting my time, love, or money into something that clearly doesn’t have time, love, or money put into it. It’s boring, cheap, bad for the environment, and shows how much the company cares about artists. And this from the app that has so many books about care for artistry and art, as well as a book that is about environmentalism. Disheartening and disappointing to say the absolute very least. The app USED to put out interesting and engaging stories. But just a few days ago they posted an “AI video short” that literally stole intellectual property from the fans, copying so many things from the fan project, “It Lives Within.”

The original stories like The Freshman, The Royal Romance…etc were so good at making the readers feel immersed into the stories. Every single book in the last 6 months have been AI slop. No meaning to any of the “choices” you make and have even more useless diamond actions. This is blatant money grabbing and laziness on behalf of the devs. I don’t know whether there was a change within the team. On a particular survey, I mentioned I would have loved a sequel of The Hero solo book, and what I saw was a 100% AI video slop link to another website. I am thoroughly disappointed.
AI Goonslop
Loved the early stories (e.g. It Lives in the Woods, Veil of Secrets, Wishful Thinking), they were entertaining, engaging, and used REAL HUMAN ART. How are you going to make a game pay-to-have-fun then use AI to create the titles, characters, and probably stories (at this point they probably are AI generated). I genuinely used to love the stories, but now I just can’t with the AI slop.

i've been reading stories on this app since 2016 (i was 10!!). choices has truly fallen so far. these early stories changed my life (no joke). today, every part of this app is inundated with ai; seemingly, the only goal is profit. old, beloved stories are put through the blender to create the laziest, ugliest, cheapest products known to mankind. run.tv is an insult to literature. it hurts to see what this app has become.
Longtime Fan, Disappointed with Current State :(
I have been playing PB’s games since High-School Story, even had a brief stint in Surviving High-School way back. From HSS, to Hollywood University, to even Choices, I’ve adored just how personal and lovely Pixelberry’s stories were, unfortunately over the past few years, Choices has been going downhill. Even with a huge group of people who have longtime loved these characters and their books, Choices’ current stories have just lost that touch that made even a silly phone game worth playing over and over again.
It’s sad to see what has happened to this company, and how it managed to take such a beloved app to just another cheap mobile game cash-grab instead of the diamond in the rough it used to be.

This used to be my favorite app, now it’s filled with “stories” that look AI generated with no originality. I miss when this app had good writing (and actual writers, it seems).

i was on the ground floor for choices when this game first launched, being a fan of the original writers and staff from their previous work in mobile games. this app was everything to me for years. i’ve spent a good bit of money over that time and have made lifelong friends through this game. and it has been so, so crushing to watch the quality in art and writing take such a hard drop. everything has become AI generated and they are no longer trying to deny it but fully embracing AI. these stories used to have heart and soul and now i don’t even think a real person works here anymore. just absolute terrible slop.
Day 1 supporter deleting
I’ve played this app since it was created, as I was a fan of the writers from SHH. I had VIP since the day it was introduced. But since the AI company acquisition, the app has been run into the ground. It’s truly awful quality all around, and the Run.tv slop nonsense was my last straw. Deleted the app for good

Do not waste your time on this. The app isn’t what it used to be. It used to be a collection of effort by storytellers and artists putting their passion onto digital pages. Now it hangs by a thread using AI to generate little animations where you have absolutely no choice or control in anything happening. They DO NOT listen to feedback no matter how much their marketing team says it does. They stole the namesake of an existing fangame calling it their own and with that goes many devoted players with it. Screw AI that is all. Goodbye. -a long time player who started in 2017
Like driving a car off a cliff
I genuinely enjoyed the stories when I downloaded this app a few years ago. But lately? AI has taken a front seat and they’re not even trying to hide it. The artwork for the latest stories are so glaringly obviously AI that you can’t help but be disappointed every time you open the app. The writing has clearly taken an AI hit as well. Errors occur more frequently, predictable story telling would be an understatement of a description, the utter lack of originality, and they’re pushing out stories so rapidly that the timelines would be impossible for actual writers to keep up with the schedule. There’s no creativity in any of the new content. I’ll be deleting the app.
AI is not real art
i’m in some choices spaces online and everyone is upset and discussing deleting the app for good, due to the rampant AI usage. if you can’t be bothered to make the art yourself, or even write the scenes yourself, why should we care about anything you put out?
Quality has taken a nosedive.
It’s embarrassing how bad the stories and “art” have gotten. Everything is churned out by AI now. Long gone are the days of masterful stories like Endless Summer, It Lives, and Blades of Light and Shadow. Just to rub acid in the wounds, the AI overlords are reviving long dead series and turning them into low-quality AI “shows” with zero interactivity or quality control to speak of. AI has not only killed this app, but has poised itself to piss on its grave.

I’m mad. I was willing to stick around when smut with barely any plot became the norm going forward because my favorites were still there to replay, and a few books with substance still did manage to get published every year. I was even willing to grit my teeth and push through when AI was suddenly being used for the art, when I dropped or outright refused to start any other game that did the same, because I downloaded Choices for the first time on release day and fell prey to the sunk-cost fallacy.
So many people wished for Hero, Vol.2. So many people love The Royal Romance saga. I’ve loved the It Lives anthology since I played ILITW, Chapter 1 in the middle of class my senior year of high school when I should’ve been photoshopping my face onto a fruit. Now, Hero has a sequel that you can’t play, can’t even customize the MC in; The Royal Romance has been tainted by corporate greed when it was already such a success; and It Lives Within is almost certainly a shameless ripoff of the game with the same name fans made FOR FREE because the original series was so beloved and they wanted to give it the narrative closure it deserved. All of this feels like such a slap in the face, and that’s not even addressing the issue of Scream For Me being incomplete, or the drastic drop in full, 16-chapter books.
I’ve been trying to catch up on all the stories I wanted to play but had to put off because I was F2P, and it’s been slow-going but enjoyable just checking in and reading every day. Now? I’m not sure I’ll be able to bring myself to finish Crimes of Passion, Book 3 even though I love my detective and Trystan so much.

AI Slop
This game used to be so good. There's individual series that are 5 stars for sure, but all the writers of those stories are long gone. This app went from bad to worse. AI stories to AI "tv shows". They took the choices out of choices. The final straw when when one of these "tv shows" stole the name of the fanmade game "it lives within". These new devs are worthless plagiarists churning out endless AI slop.
