Coursera too may requests
Within about five minutes of signing up for the service and starting my first course, I am temporarily blocked with the message that I have made too many requests. No information on what caused it. Apparently I will have to wait somewhere between 30 minutes and 24 hours. Bummer.
No access to previous courses content
You pay the course fee but loose content access if you don’t keep paying monthly. Just awful!
Quiz grading error
I select the correct answer, but the system marked wrong. When I review the quiz the same answer as marked as correct, but still lose points. This happened multiple times. Please review.
OpenID vs Oauth 2.0
1 star for security token handling. Can’t sign in via the app unless you use fb, google, etc.
Terrible service
I paid for a year of Plus membership. Beware that most of these courses don’t even have an instructor to give you grades. They often use “peer review” which means your assignment will be graded by two of your classroom peers. The problem with this is many of your peers will not give you a fair grade so you will not pass that assignment and have to start over and this is after you’ve waited potentially days for two people to even score your assignment in the first place. I’m currently waiting on a peer review assignment yet again just so I can get my certificate. I’ve reached out to the support team, but they just sent me AI responses. This is a terrible service and it is not worth the money.

Lab Hands on needs improvement
Labs Hands are not in detail. There are no attachments of files used in lab. The course is not properly structured and poorly designed
Stop with the popups for a review
Stop asking me to review every time I open the app, all I want to do is study and each time I go to take a look at my practice test here comes a popup. It’s very annoying. Please stop asking every time and all the time for a review! Other than these annoying pop up Coursera is ok. Stop the popups!
Terrible Policies
Prompts you to subscribe on your web browser so they can avoid apple subscription and consumer policies.
Crashing
Soon as I enter otp, it’s crashing. Unable to login. Happening for months!
Video on mobile is unreliable
The video always drop, when changing position, when switching to other apps on mobile device, to keep a video playing you must basically completely freeze everything about the phone and wait without having access to take notes, check messages or even turn the phone. It’s an intermittent issue or maybe course specific - if this gets fixed I’ll change my review to 5 stars but this one issue is huge. Hire me and I’ll help you solve this personally.
Needs to Fix Syncing
It’s 2026. I can’t believe I need to explain to Coursera that if I log into my account on a different device, I shouldn’t need to start from scratch.
They’ve been ripping us off for months
I signed up for this thinking it was a video course and it was really a course reading and I have ADHD and autism and I couldn’t so I canceled it right away and it was on my girlfriend’s credit card and the account is inactive and they’ve been charging her card for the last eight months they’re criminal I wouldn’t sign up for this thing if it was the last thing on earth go to a real college give this thing up. I’ll let you know if they ever give us our money back, but I’m sending a charge back through and reporting it to every agency I mean, that’s just criminal because it wasn’t on my account.. they never canceled it
Scam
Pressing “Enroll for free” button for all courses opens “This course costs $49”
Coursera is dead
The removal of audit mode completely killed this app. No more free learning.
No customer service
Didn’t know my card was getting charged for a course I never actually opened until a few months later. I was surprised a company so large had this poor customer service. No refund, but got to talk to an AI bot
The player fails to load on mobile
I like to learn in off cycle locations where I usually just have my phone and I keep getting this black screen when the video is supposed to play. Disappointing and a hindrance to learning.

Coursera is no longer free
I recently reconnected after a couple of years and found out that now there’s no audit option and you have to pay $49 on literally all the courses I was interested in. Sad how companies capitalize off of what should be freedom of information and learning.
Dishonest Business Practices
It seems at first glance to be an unbeatable offer: a seven day free trial of the learning account, and with it a free three month trial to Google AI pro. However, when I got about three modules in, it came time to download the trial as advertised, for the Google AI pro. Upon trying to activate the Google trial that was bundled with Coursera, the activation failed, and it stated you must be using the paid version of Coursera. The offer un-clearly inferred that the trial to the AI pro was going to be part of the free trial. I did troubleshoot, and even spoke with customer service, and it turns out that the messaging, including the misleading claims of free trials, were intentional.. I was so looking forward to increasing my knowledge in several different areas, and seeing the bundled free trial offer was what finally convinced me that it was time to start paying for some more continuing education classes. After this incident, I find myself disheartened and disillusioned. I feel that there should be zero trickery when it comes to free trial fine print. We’re all used to dishonest business practices, but this one was especially hurtful.
Was good when free.
Of course they turned accessible education for all into a profit machine. Is there nothing sacred in this world? Obviously not.
Screen shuts off while trying to watch
Y’all can’t keep the screen from locking mid lecture???? What am I paying you for?????
Ugh the worst. Refused to let me join annual promo
I started a 7 day free trial I cancelled and it refused to let me join the promo to buy the year
Verbatim:
“If you're thinking about upgrading to Annual, promotion will also not be applied since the subscription should be processed directly to Annual Coursera Plus offer.
Additionally, since you already started the free trial for monthly Coursera Plus, getting the offer for Annual subscription will not gonna be possible. “

Charged me even I canceled subscription
Customer service is zero
Absolutely zero support for Walmart users
Coursera might be an OK company if you go and purchase a course directly through them but if the course is provided by your company they give you zero support. I spent 20 minutes with their AI support explaining that I cannot access my Google AI fundamentals course that Walmart let me enroll in using my Walmart credentials via the app. Now this might be by design but the AI support bot was absolutely useless. And when you request to speak to a actual person it just says no you can’t. If I could give them negative stars I would.
And the paywall drops…
This used to be a great free resource for solid education materials should you need to brush the dust off of old college topics or learn more about topic of interest, just audit the course if you don’t want the credit. Now everything beyond week 1 of a course is held behind a paywall, and at $60/month, you’re challenging my internet service bill. Good bye Coursera!
Double charged
Be careful you don’t get charged for two payments, they don’t cancel normal subscriptions if you upgrade plans. You have to manually go cancel the normal subscription. This caused my account to overdraft for the first time when in a bad spot. Not fun for college students lol.
Paid so much and cant even use it…
So I paid for the annual Coursea plus and it shows on my bank statement but it isn’t reflecting on the app or site. So I can’t use it. I paid for it back in the middle of January and it’s now March. Ive email them telling them the issue and all they said was someone would reach out (thay was over a month ago). There’s no way to call to anything and no other email or anything!
Poor IT communication
I have contacted IT several times about the note button issue. No one has responded and it has delayed my learning process immensely.
SCAM APP!!!!!!
SCAM APP!!! STAY AWAY THEY STEAL MONEY WITHOUT YOUR AUTHORIZATION
No Longer Offering Audit Courses
Used to be a great app. But their new “premium” pay system is terrible. All the free audit courses I was enrolled in are not “free trial” versions and I am no longer able to access the full course.
Free trial is scam . Please don’t add your card
Worst app. Charged money in trial period. Please don’t get trapped . If this comment is deleted by this scam app, I will post again. Customer support chat is of no help. There is no turn around time for email . There is no phone number to get connected . Please save yourself some time and money . Don’t get trapped here . Worst platform. 1 star
Horrible customer service
Tried for over a week to get Coursera plus so I could work towards a career in IT. Due to a near complete lack of availability, the only option I had to contact them was to send an email and hope they would promptly reply. They did not. They still have not. App is a disappointment in my opinion due to the lack of availability to their customers as well as potential customers.
Removed audit option
I used to love coursera but after they removed audit option , i stopped using it
Kind of wacky
Can’t get into labs from mobile app
The worst customer support
Their payment system was down and I had missed the annual discount. When showing evidence to their customer service rep they told me to “be on the lookout for upcoming sales”
Such a terrible system
Such a terrible system
Robbing people
You cancel and then they take your 49$ and won’t give you a refund. They’re scammers. There’s not even a phone number to get into contact with anyone.
Bland Interface - Constant Audio Issues
This app always has had audio issues for the past decade I have used it. Online mobile web version is better.
Interface pretty bland, there is a lack of real audited exam quality they cant offer. That other platforms can.
Overall still decent and lets you check course content. All the audio on this app is broken tho which is unnacceptable for a company this large. All other platforms manage to play audio properly.

Summary Offline Error
Will not let me view the summary of a video while a Module Exam is active (50 minutes). The problem is, even if I’ve completed the module and it has been graded, the summary still remains “offline.” Makes it really hard to be productive and move onto the next step with bugs like this. Please fix ASAP, paying too much money for bugs.
It used to be free
I used Coursera when it first came out and the courses were free with the option to pay at the end if you wanted a printable certification of completion. I rejoined today to find that now it’s 50 bucks a month (though I can’t find details if that’s for unlimited courses or if it’s just per course) which was kind of a shock to me since they’re not college credits.
Bad subscription policies
I signed up for a free trial and then my life got hectic and it took me a few months to realize I was being billed $50 a month because the trial turned into a subscription.
I contacted them to see about a full or partial refund or even a credit since I had not used the product or logged in at all, but they just kept repeating their no refund policy which is that I should have known better.
I understand the policy, but life happens and it’s so easy to forget about free trials that start charging you for a free months.
There should be a medium ground if the account has not been used and the person is not taking advantage of the company.
