Crashes on launch on ios 17
My iPad Pro (2 Gen) is stuck on ios 17. DeepL Translate installs, but crashes immediately on launch every time, in less than one second.

Has trouble recognizing consonants, slow choppy translations
These guys are discriminating right from the start.
Your good rating isn’t available in your region because of discrimination. Your app still works through different services, and you can download it despite the restrictions - I think you know that. And yet you still put restrictions on the Russia region. History remembers people like you - one mustached guy back in the 1930s also wanted to separate some people from others. Wishing you negative growth, you bunch of soy boys.

Cannot translate spoken Danish, Norwegian and German. Why have a feature that fails terribly?
Charging without subscription
I just used it to try once, now this thing keeps changing me and I can’t delete the account as it gives me an error and tell me I should contact support. I am having an awful experience and the subscription doesn’t go through Apple Store which is a disaster!

I expect this app to cover my country's language, which is Persian, with around 150 million people speaking Persian.

This app seems to only understand English when you’re speaking French or German it will only identify English spellings as correct. When you speak in German, this app cannot hear. I speak “Bis balt!” And it spells Dis to the English. I speak Gepäck and it spells out gephart in English. How does this app hear gephart when you say Gepäck? Sounds nothing like it

No LATAM Spanish
They only use Spain Spanish while most of the world uses latam spanish. I'm going back to Google translate.
Problem logging into my account
I can't log in to my account. There's a window in the browser where it's an endless download and I can't enter anything. (24.4 / iOS 16)
I don't think it's accurate
So, to test if it was accurate, I took screen shots of ENHYPEN's song Bad Desire (With Or Without You) (the Korean lyrics) since I knew it in English too. And it translated to completely different English lyrics.

v 25.17,.18 Not work right
Update:v25.18 same issue.
V 25.17 already not work properly. It used to detect the language I wanted translated when set to 'detect language'. And it translated properly. Now when I type les petits riens (french) and set 'detect language', app won't detect language. And it won't translate the phrase at all. I have to remove the letter s in riens first, THEN it translates the way it SHOULD HAVE when I typed the s in riens. Not sure I should keep app until you fix this error.

Worked awhile ago, now does not
I used this app for a whole year talking to my Japanese friend, I since have not talked to them in over a year and came back to the app to have some products in Japanese and Korean translated as I usually did. The app no longer works, I take the picture it shows the language but refuses to translate just continues to show me what I am already looking at.

Now, it’s a mix of many different dialects that are not accurate and especially when it comes to the gender specific message you input it with. For example, I put “she” in and it comes back with a translated text that is for “he”.

Needs to improve the camera translation efficiency-too slow
Much better at translating than Google and nearly all other competitors, however, the speed of camera translation is way too slow so I almost always choose Google instead. In most real world use cases time is critical, and waiting/freezing for almost 5 seconds isn’t really acceptable and made it much less useful.

This app was great for a long time, but recently the translations seem to be slightly off and the “alternatives” button doesn’t offer the correct options that I’m looking for. Even when I tried to manually fix some words, the app reverted the translation back into what I was trying to correct. Very frustrating.
App problems & slow support
I was really hopefully and excited to use this recommended app, but they fell way short! This app has technology problems, what their help center says to do doesn’t work or is not available on their app or from a laptop. Which this is frustrating when you trying understand how to use this app and get something translated. Also, the tech support is AI generated, but when you reply back like it asks you to, it takes several days to get a response back from an actual person. Then if you respond quickly to their response it takes several more days to get another response--frustrating for sure. Which is really too late when I needed to get the translation done several days before. Their email back to you does say it can take up to 5 days to get a response, but to me in today’s technology world, that is way too long. But they don’t tell you that when you pay for the subscription, only after you have a problem. I would move to the next translation app. A company is only as good as its customer service! Good luck
Missing some basics
The app can’t figure out that you’re using two different languages to translate back-and-forth. So you have to constantly tell it which language you want to go use. If you use the ‘swap arrows’ to swap between languages, it automatically deletes everything you typed in, so you have to type it again. These basic features should be a no-brainer for this app. If you want to translate something, you should be able to use the swap arrows and it should keep what you wrote and simply translate what you asked to translate. It should use the previous translation language as in default. So you don’t have to go through and select the language over and over again. Really basic stuff. It makes me wonder if the people who developed this app actually use it. Or they just have no sense of usability.
The interface is not functioning correctly
Recently, DeepL has started working only on half the screen, which is very inconvenient. This becomes noticeable when you hide the keyboard. Previously, after hiding the keyboard, you could see the translation on the entire screen, but now this is no longer possible. It has also become practically impossible to use alternative translations because they are simply not visible. I will gladly change my review to 5 stars when you fix these bugs.

I’ll just continue to type & save the accurate language translations on Google Translate. This app would be perfect if yall didn’t charge for saving the language translations

Doesn't translate full messages
Translations are ok but usually it will only translate one or two sentences. So it's useless for messages and emails. Plus the UI is really weird.

I keep changing my review because this app keeps changing in significant ways under the covers while maintaining the same general appearance. It’s uncanny. In any case, many of the previously reported problems are fixed.
I was planning on visiting the App Store a couple weeks ago to give this app a much deserved (for its actual translation quality) 4 star rating at least. But, out of caution, I wanted to wait a bit. And just like clockwork, they managed to wrestle a defeat from the jaws of victory. Again. Something new is broken.
It used to be only “frustrating” that if you’re dictating text, and you hit the “copy” button while the mic is open, you’d merely not get the text. It would not actually copy it, you have to hit it a second time, because the first time just stops the mic from listening. I can’t tell you how many times, when trying to work quickly, I ended up pasting the message someone had sent me back to them, because that was the last thing that was actually copied; my response wasn’t.
Well, it doesn’t do that any more. Great, huh? Well… what it does now is, if you tap the copy button while the mic is open, it turns off the mic… and deletes your text. That’s right. Not only does it not copy it, but a second tap won’t copy it either because the text is gone. You have to re-enter it. This moves into the “exasperating” category.
I still don’t understand why they can’t seem to fix one thing without breaking something else that was working before. There’s something to be said for relying on prior art. Having a checklist. Anyway, we’re back to 2 stars. This is ALL based on usability, by the way, as the translations themselves remain, I think, superior to the competition’s.
