Annoying
Closed captions constantly come on and now I can’t shut them off which is highly distracting. It also turns my tv up to max volume upon starting a show. App on the TV constantly logs out and to log back in you have to type in everything like it’s 2018. Really annoying since I pay for this app!
Always Freezing/Lagging
I’ve tried this app throughout the years and every time I try it, I am yet again disappointed. It is ALWAYS lagging or freezing. Thankfully, it was only $6.

The app itself works fine, but it seems as if they try to drive people to the point of insanity by playing the same one of two ads on repeat. Literally, the same 2 ads 6 times in a row at every commercial break. I suppose it’s their way of trying to get people to pay for the ad free version? It’s absolutely obnoxious and truthfully, makes me want to use a different streaming service that doesn’t do that. Also, the longer you watch, the longer and more frequent the ad breaks are, which is annoying.
No Play Button
If you pause your show and then try to go back in to watch just a few minutes later, the play button won’t appear. You have to close the show and then reopen it to keep watching. Please fix!!

This app has me stuck in a subscription with absolutely no way to cancel it! No cancel on my tv, xbox or the phone app. Went to the web site. No cancel option. No phone number to call !! Wth!! Grrr

It’s good to see that Discovery invests its money in review bots rather than good programming. You’ve lost my business after the Paramount takeover.

Update (04-02-2026)
Not sure if the recent update messed up the video quality, but I had to delete the app and I need to stream it on my Safari browser instead to get a better quality video but Discovery Plus won't let me and forcing me to redownload the app which now has bad video quality. I should be able to watch it on my Safari browser or the discovery app on my iPad depending on which one gives me the best picture quality. Please give me that choice. Video quality worse than SD quality now. Disappointed.
Update (03-14-2026) Discovery+ has the best video quality out of all my streaming apps. Please don't change the video quality if y'all merge with Netflix because their video quality is awful all the time.

Other on demand channels I enjoy on there are American Heroes Channel, Science Channel, Animal Planet, Planet Earth and Discovery Life, etc. Love all the documentaries and nature programs also. Looking forward to more great content.

Can’t use the app now on my iPad.
I have an older iPad that I use for streaming. Your app now requires iOS 16.4 or newer, which my iPad doesn’t accommodate. I’ve attempted to watch through a browser, but it keeps telling me to go to the app. So now I’m paying for a service I can’t use on my primary device.

The newest update will no longer let me watch on my (not old) iPad. I will have to cancel my subscription. Thanks for nothing Discovery+

NEW RELEASES ARENT THERE
I hate this app so much. I only use it to watch 90 day fiance. There’s supposed to be a new episode on a certain day and time. Very frequently over the many years, it never shows up for some reason. For example, ifs Sunday 2/22/26 and the newest episode of 90 day before the 90 days season 8 episode 11 should be out by 7/8. Well it’s 10:30pm and there is no new episode. This happens ALL THE TIME. And then other people on Reddit have already discussed the episode hours ago. Ok so why can’t I see it or watch it??

I think this is the worst app of all time. Every few minutes there is another ad. Then they repeat the same ad multiple times every time they show it. I will not reward that kind excessive over marketing. Maybe they should watch their own shows.
Shows released
They don’t actually release the show when the episode airs on tv. It gets longer and longer all the time and I only have this app to watch one show and they are now 2 episodes behind……. I’m probably just gonna cancel and watch it on YouTube or something

However, as time went on it has now shifted to seeing our shows the day after it premieres on cable. There are also certain shows such as 90 Day Fiancé Pillow Talk that doesn’t get released on the app until the season finale airs on cable which ends up being months later.
It makes you wonder what’s the point of having the app if you can still see it on cable firsthand?

It’s the same horrible ai commercials over and over again. Like how many ads do I have to watch? I pay a subscription its ridiculous

Missing programs
I bought this service because I really enjoy discovery programs, however I hind it very frustrating that I serch shows that are apart of discovery and they are not available to stream. Why should I even have the service?
Discovery went soft
I remember when discovery had good shows that were entertaining to the real men and we learned actual interesting and historical facts from. Not a bunch of cooking, home remodeling, and dating junk! The stuff that the discovery channel used to have.
