Unauthorized Charge without Confirmation: They automatically charged my stored credit card without providing any "Confirm" or "Review Order" screen. Processing such a massive price jump without an explicit opt-in is a total violation of consumer consent. It is shameless to pull money from a saved card silently.
No Transparency: There was zero notification regarding this specific price jump before the charge was made.
Zero Usage: I have NOT used a single credit or watched any videos for the past TWO YEARS. Internal logs will prove my zero activity, yet they continue to "rob" me via auto-renewal.
Broken Promises: Support promised a response within 48 hours but has completely ignored me.
Domestika, refund my $329 immediately.

Deceitful renewal policy
This used to be a great site, but they raised their pricing from about $80 to more than $300 a year. There’s no clear warning about the increase or that your renewal is coming up. They simply auto renew the subscription. It’s also nearly impossible to reach a real person. Everything is automated, and support just points you back to the terms and conditions.
The experience feels misleading and frustrating. I’d recommend reading the Trustpilot reviews before signing up. I’m honestly surprised the app is ranked so highly here.

Last month I purchased a course while they were on sale, during this period in between I was notified of, or had access to any Plus Membership services. This month I received a $350 charge to my card, even though at the time Plus was on sale for $174.50 and I had not purchased a plus membership. I was notified noticed that my account had started a free trial at any point. Watch out for Scam if you plan on purchasing a course. They are a predatory company that will sell you a course for $1 then charge your account for a useless “Plus membership” that you did not want for an inflated price.

A predatory company who swindles customers out of their money through deceptive ads and cheap deals. You get a $300+ low-value membership that doesn’t even allow you to access course resources without spending credits, which are sparsely given to you. So, you’d be forced to buy more if you want to complete more courses. This is their entire business model. Very embarrassing way to do business.
I will never spend money won’t this company again, and even if you would, I’d caution against supporting a company that does not value people enough to operate with integrity and respect. Customer service is also untimely and unresponsive. NEVER AGAIN.

Bad business practices impede otherwise quality service
App is fine. A lot of the artist provided courses are very quality… but the company has dubious practices for making money. Beware. Be careful. Here is my last note I sent them:

Thank you for reviewing my request. I understand from your reply that a refund will not be issued, and while I strongly disagree with the decision, I accept that this is the stance you’re taking.
That said, I feel obligated to be candid about how troubling this experience has been-not just for me, but clearly for many others. After looking further into this, I found an alarming number of customers describing nearly the exact same situation: purchasing a low-cost course, being funneled into a free trial they didn’t intend to activate, not using it at all, and then being hit with a $349 charge. The volume and consistency of these complaints make it hard to view this as anything other than a predatory setup.
Whether intentional or not, the structure of this “free trial” appears designed to capitalize on people forgetting to cancel. And unfortunately, that perception is reflected everywhere online-from rating sites to customer forums. It is doing real damage to Domestika’s reputation.
A legitimate trial meant to benefit the user would never result in so many people feeling blindsided. At minimum, the $349 renewal should be highlighted prominently, not buried. And a simple reminder email or text before the charge would completely change the way customers feel. Had I received even one reminder, I would have cancelled immediately. Instead, I’m left with a charge I did not intend and a frustrating experience that could have easily been prevented.
As your review of my account shows, I cancelled the subscription the moment I discovered what happened-clear evidence that I never intended to keep or use Domestika Plus.
I hope Domestika takes a serious look at the pattern of complaints and how this trial structure is being perceived. For a company that produces such high-quality creative content, this practice undermines the trust and goodwill you should be building with your customers.
It was also frustrating that it took a month of consist effort to get a response that was not auto or ai-generated. Even the company’s telephone answering message pertained primarily to refund requests, further suggesting that you are dealing with this issue a lot. I am curious if the company and employees are concerned and looking for solutions, or content with current practices?

Unethical business practices
The artists/instructors are very good, the video production is also good - if not for my recent experience with their unethical business practices, the product would be 4-5 stars.
But - increasing the pricing from $119 to $329 without notice or a reminder of autopay (annual) about to happen, so I could consider, is simply wrong. I’ve been a member for 2 years?
The clincher is having a No Refunds policy - even though I contacted for PayPal for a dispute before funds had cleared the following day. No go. I’m very disgusted by this.
If you sign up, make sure you stop autopay!!!!

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company!
They will advertise fantastic prices on courses, and you will be tempted. The catch is you have to also sign up for their yearly membership to get those great prices. You’ll think it’s worth it because the first year is a reasonable price ($40 for me in 2023). The second year will be double what you paid the first year ($84 for me last year). But they send you absolutely no billing emails, so you will probably forget you have the membership, and you might not even notice the $84 charge when it posts to your account. Then the second year, they will charge you $329 (4x last year’s price!!!). WITH NO NOTIFICATION OF THE RATE HIKE!!!!! They give no refunds for the annual subscription, so you’re stuck with a HUGE bill for a service whose classes are meh, and that you probably don’t use anyway. They’re not affiliated with the BBB because they don’t respond to BBB complaints, and as of this morning, they have over 300 outstanding complaints on the BBB website. Do yourself a favor and pick a different learning app with better courses and better pricing policies. Honestly, Apple should remove them from the App Store for being scammy and predatory.

My subscription was canceled automatically and all my paid credits disappeared
I’ve been a Domestika Plus subscriber for more than a year, always paying $9.99 per month without interruption. I never canceled my plan - Domestika canceled it automatically and forced me to subscribe again under a new $20 plan just to access my account and the credits I had already paid for.
Because they canceled my plan without my consent, all of my previous Plus credits (around 20 or more) have now disappeared. Those credits were legitimately paid for, and I never used them. I am not asking for anything free, only for what I already paid.
I’ve tried contacting support several times, but I only get automated bot responses and no real help from a human representative. It’s really frustrating and disappointing, especially after being a loyal, paying customer for so long.
I truly hope someone from Domestika’s management or customer support can review my case personally and help me recover my lost credits. I still believe in the platform and just want to resolve this fairly.

Be careful of sneaky subscription renewals
I signed up for a year of Domestika through their website. Normally, I set reminders to unsubscribe from services that I am not sure I will want to renew. Apparently I forgot to do so with Domestika. I only found out that my annual subscription had auto-renewed when I looked over my credit card statement. I didn't even remember what Domestika WAS at first. I immediately got in touch to say that I had not been using the service and had no plans to start and hoped I could get a refund. Domestika refused. Auto-renewal is in their terms of service.
Legally, they are in the clear. But wow is this an example of terrible user experience design and customer service. Companies should build their business by selling people products they want to buy, not tricking them into paying for an annual subscription for a product they aren't using.
If you want to try this product, ONLY sign up through the Apple App Store. Apple will notify you about subscription renewals in advance and make it easy to check and cancel. If you sign up with Domestika's website, they will do their best to make sure you don't know the renewal is coming so you can't opt out.

I feel completely misled by Domestika. I only wanted to purchase a single course, but without my clear consent they enrolled me in a yearly Domestika Plus subscription and charged my card. For years I would purchase classes from these guys. In August I bought a class on sale. I saw it online and purchased it on my phone. Once I bought it I found out that I purchased a class and a $349 subscription!
Frustrated, I waited until I had my computer that I use for the classes. I logged on four days later. I had to create a new password. Once logged in I unsubscribed, I got the pop up window that I would be missing out on so much by not giving them $349.00. I canceled anyway. Well, they didn’t cancel it. Instead they charged me $349.00
No customer service phone number. Only an email that takes 48 hours for them to respond. It takes so long so they get the funds and you can’t get the full amount returned.
This is the most predatory practice I’ve ever seen. Please go elsewhere, there are some great online classes that don’t do this. There are even ones with online subscription that only cost $60 a year like 21 Draw. Artist, DO NOT do classes with these guys. If they are doing this to customer and are so hard to get ahold of they are definitely not paying the instructor.

Does not work
I keep updating and reinstalling the Domestika app. It stopped working on my older ipad, saying my ipad was out of date. But now on my iphone with a newer ios, it still does NOTHING except give me a message saying I must allow Notifications. I cannot login and view any of my 40 or classes. This is a huge disappointment. After 2 months, can you please fix it? Also, why not make it available still to older devices??? Forcing everyone to buy new devices is wasteful.

This is beyond frustrating - it’s outrageous and completely disrespectful. They clearly do not care about their customers in the slightest.
Domestika is a complete scam. Do NOT fall for their “free trial” trap. You’ll end up losing money and getting ignored.

Misleading Pricing & Shady Subscription Practices
I initially signed up for a course on Domestika that was advertised for just 99¢-which seemed like a great deal. But that “great deal” turned into a nightmare. Out of nowhere, I got an alert saying I was being charged nearly $400. At no point during sign-up was this amount clear or communicated properly. That’s not just misleading-it feels downright predatory.
To make things worse, unsubscribing is a headache. If you don’t remember your login (which happens when you sign up impulsively for a single cheap course), trying to cancel or contact support is like pulling teeth. It’s intentionally difficult, and that raises red flags about the company’s ethics.
This whole experience feels like a bait-and-switch scheme: lure people in with a $1 course, then quietly enroll them in an expensive plan they didn’t ask for. Not cool.
If you’re thinking about signing up, read the fine print carefully (if you can even find it), and don’t assume that 99¢ price tag is the real cost. This kind of business practice needs to be called out.

Background music ruined everything

Paid annual subscription doesn’t include all videos
So basically, I paid $300 for the annual subscription and still you have to pay for a lot of courses that are not included in it…like what the heck… 300 and I still have to pay for for credits because the subscription doesn’t include all of the videos in the platform. Not worth it if you want to take a course just pay for that course and not pay for the annual. They also make you an offer of one dollar for a course and then make you pay the subscription if you don’t cancel in 30 days they don’t even send a reminder and they charge you and they don’t give refunds.

Can’t purchase courses-Domestika won’t help
I’m trying to buy a couple more courses, but suddenly the “Purchase” button stopped working in the app. I press it, and nothing happens.
The only “support” is an AI chat that assumes the problem is my bank is not allowing the charge. That is not the problem. The attempt to place the charge never gets that far. The problem is the purchase button is not working in Domestika’s app. The chat offered a link to send a message for human support. I took the time to submit a help request, only to receive the same very unhelpful automated chat response back by email.
I’d give 4 stars because I’ve been enjoying my recent course purchases, which I was able to buy a few days ago before that function in the app suddenly stopped working.
The courses, in general, are uneven in quality-some are sincerely fantastic and inspiring, while others are outdated and/or conducted by people who don’t seem to know what they’re doing. Overall, I tend to think of them not so much as “courses,” but more like extended presentations with tips and advice.
Zero stars for Domestika support. If I were more cynical, I’d think they were hoping you’d go to the website in the browser instead, where the pricing is different, and be mislead into buying a subscription out of frustration because the app isn’t working.
If you run into a problem in the app, you are on your own. Domestika will not help you.
