Horrible graphic style and interface
Might as well burn 3 dollars. Horrible port. Great way to give yourself a stroke looking at the poor pixel art from the characters and environment tiles. Interface is clunky as well.
Horrible controls, no screen rotate
No horizontal display option and awkward controls make this a $3 frustration you don’t need. Much better experience playing this as a rom on an emulator for free.
Not Liked
If I could just get a refund…I didn’t find it very fun
No Japanese
Japanese game but with no Japanese language available? Smh
Crashes when winning a battle.
Whenever I win a battle the game freezes and I can’t progress, for a game all about fighting enemies this is egregious and should be fixed immediately. Very disappointed.
Land tiles are ugly as sin
This is a wonderful game and is very well suited to a mobile phone port. It also has an awful graphical bug that I can't believe they haven't addressed in, according to other reviews, at least eight years! While the pixel art of the characters and monsters is sharp and neat, the land tiles covering the majority of the screen alternate between thick and thin rows and columns of pixels. Instead of a charming fantasy landscape, the result is a godawful mess. You have to will yourself to ignore this problem for the entire game. You don't get to enjoy the art, especially during a certain moment when the tiles have changed. They have tried to disguise this problem in the store screenshots by shrinking and rotating the images, but you can see what I mean if you look closely. Developers: A sampler must never use a nearest-neighbor magnification filter unless every texture pixel will map to a whole number of framebuffer pixels. With a given level of zoom expected for gameplay, combined with unpredictable phone resolutions for future devices, you've set yourselves up to fail. This betrays the care given by your artists, who clearly wished to uphold the original game's charm. Since the character sprites do look correct, you can look to that implementation for a solution. Stakeholders: This is a modern player's introduction to the Dragon Quest series. Don't be cheap; make a better impression.
No control support
Please update the support for backbone controller
Not like dragon warrior at all!
Says it’s just like the English version, and it’s not the same in anyway of the gameboy color game I played. TRASH!
No controller support. Kills any nostalgia. Not worth the $3
Bought this hoping to get that nostalgic feeling of the controller in hand, engrossed in a world on my iPad. Come to find out it ONLY works in portrait mode with touch screen wheel and buttons “designed to play one handed on a subway”. What a scam. Don’t waste your money. Can’t even play it enjoyably on an iPad or streamed to a TV with a controller. Unbelievably short sighted to not include controller support.
liar
Liar, said there are other languages, but after downloading it is only in English!
No sound
Theres no sound on this game. I’m on the 13 pro max. They had the game on sale but haven’t updated it in over 3 years now. Looks like they are just trying to cash in. Wasted my money.

Update
Guess what ? They still haven’t updated the game. Typical for Square Enix.

Weird you can’t turn your phone
Why am I forced to play it upright only i have a case that holds like a gaming controller holding upright hurts my hands I’m so disappointed that I just wasted 2.99$ plus tax to be forced to play a game in a physically painful format on either my palm or pinky finger depending on how I hold my phone
I give it one star for the fact I can play it on mobile which is good and it isn’t unreasonably priced -4 stars because there was no thought in mind for the users preferred format I.e turning the phone to its side to have more comfortable hand positions

Extremely dumbed down from original
Too easy. Fly through early levels without even taking a single hp of damage. Monsters drop way too much gold to leave even the slightest hint of a challenge. And the dungeon maps are not the same as the original. No challenge at all to this version, not even worth the time.
Bug
Game just freezes after a battle if you are listening to something in the background
what happen no Chinese
why
No sound
I have a iPhone 13 pro max , an the sound doesn’t work an or controller support
No controller support
No controller support. And can’t play in landscape mode on iPad, which makes it very tedious to play on the iPad. These are two simple fixes. I hope they can update the game
Has no Sound!
latest ios updated settings checked. this game has no sound. very unimpressed
Seriously Portrait mode?
Honestly unplayable why would you only allow it in portrait mode when the ff series is in landscape ? Absolutely a waste of money.
Just awful controls
I have no idea why this is rated so highly. Great game, but the controls are so miserable... There are many, many better ways to play this game.
Won’t save games!!
I’ve tried 5 times to save a game where I get good weapons n good shields but then it’s not saved the next time I play even though it’s Saved??!!
Save and Sync Issues
The gameplay is great, if it was intended to mimic the NES original, which I played many times as a kid. My two big problems with the game are as follows: (1) You cannot sync to your other Apple devices - I played for a couple of days on my phone, loved it, and wanted to play on a bigger screen using my iPad, but the saved game does not sync to iCloud or Game Center. I would have to start it over again. (2) Quick Save, a save feature under the Misc
menu, does not work. I played for hours, retuned to it the next day, and that progress was gone. It would seem I have to return to the King every time I need to save, which is impractical.

Controller support
It would be nice.
disappointed
graphics lack charm, music sounds as generic as it can be. The game doesn’t fill the screen as well. Not worth $3, nor would it be worth 99cents.
Mandela effect?
Am I living in another universe or something? I played this when it was called dragon warrior monsters. And I distinctly remember being able to take on monsters as companions, and breed them for stronger and different monsters. Also, the entire storyline is different. And yet it is the exact same monsters called the exact same names, and thus close enough for copyright. I don’t understand. This is not the first game at all.
No controller support
There is no controller support for this game and you’re also forced to play vertical screen. Classic game but mainly unplayable for me using the onscreen controls. Money for something I’ll never play due to it not being compatible like most games. Suggest that be better stated in the Store.
No iCloud saves
I own iPad & iPhone. Can’t move saves between them. Great game but can’t rank higher since they won’t support a basic function. Also landscape mode would be nice.
Great game - keeps crashing
I’m level 15, and about at the town furthest south, and for some reason the music will cut out every now and again, and when that happens I know the next monster I engage with or town I enter or leave will result in my game freezing.
It was a great game up to this point, but considering the fact that you have to save at the castle (which I do think is a nice old-school RPG touch), it just isn’t playable.
I’m going to take a break from the game and see if the issue fixes itself.
