Still a good app but don’t pay until they fix it
Ive been a 4 year paid subscriber. But no more. The app has been updated to make money and monetize everything…I get it…but since the recent updates, the app has been garbage. The voice recognition works about 60% of the time and sometimes it marks me correct after saying one syllable of a sentence. Like I said, still a good app to learn language basics, but for free only. Don’t pay until they fix its issues.

Love when it says that it is wrong. Then you went to a different answer. It is still wrong. Then you go back to the original answer and it is correct. Useless.

Don't do da dum bird
I'm sorry Duolingo. JK. IM NEVER APOLOGIZING TO ThAT DUM BIRD. I've been using this app for 5 years and haven't even learned how to start a conversation. I tried French for four years and only learned how to order at a càfe. Then I tried Korean and the same problem. I never even learned how to entroduce myself 😢.

Why I can’t cancel the app on my phone
I have tried many time to cancel the app from my phone store but is still there .
Battery Method Sucks
I really dislike this new battery life usage. You barely get to do much cause the battery gets so low so fast and they give you like +2 energy every 7 questions.

Downfall
Duolingo is on a downfall. I used this app many years ago and absolutely loved it so when I recently started learning a new language, my first thought was to use Duolingo. However, the app has changed drastically since I used it many years ago. While the app is “free”, it is difficult to consistently practice vocabulary without paying for premium. You start with a battery of 25% and each time you do a question on a lesson, your battery goes down by 1-2 percent. This becomes tricky for longer lessons because you lose battery before you finish the lesson, and your only options are to lose all your progress from the lesson, or pay for premium to get unlimited battery. Not only that, but once you use battery, you don’t get it back until the next day. So you did an entire lesson and lost all your battery and didn’t gain any progress for the day. I am very disappointed with how the app has turned out especially because it used to be great. It is also disappointing because the app advertises itself on being free and easy to use but it is nothing of the sort.
Chess timeout issue
When there’s 15-30 secs left, a party always ends and it shows that I ran out of time. Today I lost 3 games in a row with this issue, but the positions were absolutely won. It’s terrible

Updates break things
The most recent update, which shuffled my Spanish course around, introduced all kinds of fun new bugs. The main one is that my flash cards game now seems to be stuck on the same handful of words: hello, bye, thank you, perfect, tea, coffee, ice cream. Also, my “review” sections are now chock full of vocabulary I’ve never seen before. Finally, there seems to be new preferences for how things translate. If you say Julia is looking for her notebook, previously Duolingo would want you to say “Julia busca su cuaderno” but would also accept “Julia está buscando su cuaderno.” Now, the latter is the “correct” answer and the former is counted as incorrect.
Gotta love when a company goes all-in on AI! Very disappointing. If this is the kind of top-tier service I can expect as a paying customer, then I’m unlikely to renew my subscription.

Very frustrating that Duolinguo doesn’t take into account that some of his users may not be native speakers so we are barely understood.
Voice Recognition needs work
Ever since the big update no matter how I say certain German words during flash card frenzy the app doesn’t recognize it and cost me much XP. It’s getting annoying and to the part of losing interest in the app. Please fix this or give us the option to pass on the word to continue on our timed event.
UPDATE: now the app can’t keep up with its own self and I wasted countless time doing flash card frenzy and lost 100s of points because voice recognition sucks and the app keep stalling on a Timed event.

App continues to ignore the silent mode switch status
Across multiple recent versions, Duolingo is ignoring the status of the silent mode switch. so in other words, the switch is set to silent, but Duolingo still plays noise through the speaker of the iPhone. My phone iOS is up-to-date, my Duolingo app is up-to-date, but this issue keeps happening this whole year. Can you fix the bug already, please?
