App never works and feels like a scam
I downloaded this app and tried the free trial. The app crashes every time I try to open it. Customer support was no help when I contacted them. And then I was charged for a subscription even though it was not showing up in my settings as an active subscription. Save yourself the hassle and skip this one.

I really like the app and am apparently a top user but I find it incredibly frustrating that I paid for a year subscription and still get bombarded with advertisements of discounts for renewed membership or paying for it in full. It drives me absolutely nuts to the point that I’ve started closing the app instead of closing the ad and starting the soundscape. I cannot take it anymore.

Disgusting and greeedy
The worst app ever for what it claims to do. Apple already has fantastic built in sleep aids. Stopped working on AirPlay. The developers are manosphere loving pricks.
bait and switch.
The ad plays a specific type of music in order to get you to download the app. Once it’s downloaded, nowhere on the app can you find that specific sound or song . The app contains a lot of calming music and sounds that you can actually find on many other apps..
Regret buying
Bought a subscription but there’s just not enough on here to keep it interesting if I were to use it every day. Also I don’t love all the sounds. You can do better just curating a playlist on SoundCloud and then getting the algorithm to suggest stuff.
Can’t cancel app!
While I enjoyed the free trial, the app does not show up in the apple subscription and there’s no way to cancel or request a refund. I’m angry I was charged $119.99 and have no way of canceling via Apple as the FAQ’s state since it doesn’t show up on any apple subscription page
Shameful app that takes advantage of ADHD people
It uses a tree where you shake your phone to get things. That’s like a slot machine for dopamine.
It costs $119/yr
It makes ADHD people spend more time on their phones instead of disconnecting.
Shame. Shame.

Misleading advertising
The ad I saw had an 8d thing that isn’t even available in the premium. Wish I had read the 1 star reviews before going to premium. How scammy of you. Your response to others on this issue is garbage too. Hope karma gets you.
Paying for Non-Stop Advertising
This app is annoying I am paying for “Premium” membership and yet I am constantly bombarded with ads to upgrade or purchase an annual membership. The UI is kind of clumsy. It’s not the worst I’ve seen, but if you find a sound you like you should remember exactly how you got there. Honestly, I have to admit, once you get it going it can be very helpful in staying focused while reading. It’s good for finding and maintaining creative focus. If it was just the clumsy AI I’d give this 4 or 5 stars, but as long as I feel hounded to pay more money this app will remain in the one star range until it stops or 0 stars becomes an option.
Too many pop ups and options and questions
As the title says. Too many options and variables. Too many clicks, too many little toggles. Easily overwhelming.
Worst UX EVER
The music is good. The UX is like a puzzle… using the app for a long time BUT still have to realize how to navigate every time.
Difficult to unsubscribe
No options to unsubscribe. Must contact Apple directly for refund
Warning: $119.99 billing trap
I strongly recommend avoiding this app unless you are prepared to risk a $119.99 charge that may not appear under your normal Apple Subscriptions.
My issue is not just that the app is overpriced. The issue is the billing flow. I downloaded Endel believing I was starting a free trial. I did not knowingly agree to a paid annual subscription or knowingly authorize a $119.99 charge. After the charge appeared, I immediately checked my Apple Subscriptions to cancel or manage it, but there was no active or past Endel subscription listed there.
That matters. Most iPhone users reasonably assume that if they download an app from the App Store and authorize payment through an Apple-looking flow, the subscription will appear under Apple Subscriptions. In my case, it did not. That means I could not cancel, verify, or manage the charge through the standard Apple subscription process.
This is especially concerning because Endel markets itself toward people with ADHD and focus difficulties. A confusing trial/payment/cancellation flow is bad for any user, but it is especially harmful when the app is being advertised to people who may already struggle with memory, task-switching, and subscription management.
The ads I saw also emphasized special “8D” audio/music content. What I found in the app did not match what was advertised. Other reviews describe similar issues: people expected the advertised 8D tracks or trial experience and instead ended up confused, disappointed, or charged.
If you already got charged and cannot find Endel under Apple Subscriptions, this is the dispute language I recommend giving your bank or card issuer:
“I am disputing a $119.99 charge from Endel. I did not knowingly authorize a paid annual subscription and did not provide informed consent to be charged this amount. I initially downloaded the Endel app under what was presented as a free trial. After seeing the charge, I immediately attempted to locate and cancel any associated subscription. However, there is no active or past Endel subscription listed under my Apple Subscriptions. Because the subscription does not appear in Apple’s subscription management system, I was unable to cancel, verify, or manage it through the normal Apple subscription process. For these reasons, I believe this charge resulted from a deceptive or unclear billing flow, and I request a full refund.”
This app should not be allowed to advertise a simple free-trial experience while using a payment and cancellation structure that many users cannot reasonably understand or manage. Be extremely careful before entering any trial or payment flow.

Get a free soundscapes app instead
I wasn’t too impressed with the app on the premium trial. I get the same thing much much simpler on a soundscapes app I have for free.
I uninstalled the app and canceled my subscription with my Apple account. Now I’m getting email after email from Endel about failing to renew my membership which I already canceled. I try logging in on the browser and there’s no option for me to cancel my subscription- just change payment methods. It’s ludicrous.

Such Bad Faith People
Just like many other reviews on here, I too tried this app out on the 7 day free trial and went to cancel it in the Apple App Store and it was not listed there to cancel it! (Now don’t try and say I must have signed up on the website because I absolutely did NOT. Like the gaslighting you’ve done to other bad reviews on here!) I could not get it figured out by the next day to cancel it and when I contacted them about it was told “Oh sorry, we can’t refund you cause you didn’t cancel the free trial.” Sorry about your luck basically. It’s not like they are out anything anyway either. It’s a subscription that I do not want! People are so greedy. Now I’m out $120 bucks for something I’m not using. This review is going to go on every review site I can find! You can count on that.
Annoying and deceptive
You might see an ad for this and install it thinking I’m going to listen to the sounds and see if any of it is any good. You will have like 20 onboarding screens and at now point will you understand what this app does or why it’s asking you these questions. Then it will present you with some truly insane subscription pricing options including a free trial that they clearly hope you will choose and then forget about.
The real tell is you can’t choose the free trial with the monthly option. Minimum penalty for forgetting to cancel the trial is a $60 charge. No reason to do that unless you are riding in scam money.
Maybe the app is cool and good. Who knows. After all that BS I just killed the app and didn’t come back.

Total rip off
I tried the “free trial” and I always make sure to cancel right after I sign up just in case. With this app, I checked in the Apple App Store and there was no subscription so I thought it was fine. Instead I got charged $119 TWICE. I sent an email they said I wasn’t eligible for a refund. Will attempt to chargeback my credit card but this is a poor way of doing business. There’s a Reddit thread about this scam too.
False advertising
The advertisement shows an “8D” song which is just bilateral audio and a woman singing. The problem is they don’t play songs. They play an assortment of beats that you can adapt. I also selected the “1 week free trial” on May 26th and on May 30th $19.99 for this app went through.
Nothing like the ad
I was super excited by the ad on IG that featured a woman singing with a binaural effect. There is nothing like that in the app. There is nothing in this app I can’t find on YouTube for free. It really seems like you’re preying on folks with ADHD by getting them to sign up for the free trial because we’re the demographic most likely to forget to cancel it before being charged the $130+ annual fee.
This is a scam
I never purchased this and it charged me 119$ and also sent it out to all of my friends in my contacts. It is a scam. I never viewed or purchased it. I cancelled it immediately after it fraudulently charged my card and it won’t give money back and said I’m stuck for a year!!
$115 rip off
Would get but on ssi I don’t have that kind of money. Seems like every helpful app cost a lot of money these days. Such a shame because the ads that promote the app were helping me with my depression and anxiety but I can’t afford the app even on a good month
Vibe coded glitchy app
Paid for a year and a week later when I hop back in the app I’m on the free version and it’s buggy/glitchy. Waste of money and no one is updating this app on the backend. It’s just vibe coded to grab money.
Immediately crashes
I paid for the year and now every time I open it, it immediately crashes after two seconds!
Way too expensive!
No thanks! For what it purports to do, there is a plethora of videos out on the internet that will accomplish the same effect for FREE!!!!
Stop asking questions
I answered like 5 or 6 questions but I finally gave up and closed it. Can’t stand apps that don’t simply work
Scam
After canceling my subscription 4 years ago, Endel has continued charge me without notice. I have verified that I am a free subscriber in the app, Endel is not in my list of managed subscriptions, nor have i received any notification about having a subscription or warning that I am about to be charged.
After contacting (AI bot) support, they basically said there is nothing they can do because it's been over 31 days. Period. No explanation to how or why these charges occurred.
Avoid!
Edit: after writing this review, I received another response from "the developer"/bit saying the EXACT same thing about the 30 day window for a refund. Let me be clear, not only was I paying for this service for 2 years without authorization, but my account was operating under the free subscription and I could not access the pro features if I wanted.
Endel was probably a cool app 5 years ago but is clearly operating in auto mode that does not implement a path to resolving user issues.

Seems cool, but
I was curious about this app, thinking a family member might be interested. After giving it a listen, I deleted it. Now I am being charged, despite there being no indication or record of a subscription on my device. And there seems to be no way to address this. I would have given this a higher rating except for this issue.
Where is it free?
One of the first things to pop up in the app says ENDEL FREE EDITION. Where is it free? Because after I push all the buttons, it asks how much I want to pay? How is that free? I will not support businesses that try and make a buck off people truly in need of whatever tools they can find to regulate during these ridiculous times.
False Ads
This app does not work like its ads say it does.
refund scam!
they charged 119$ for a annual membership which i did not consent to. impossible to get in contact with anyone. they use 3rd party to charge you so apple can not refund it!!! i cant deactivate the app either! HUGE scam dont downloan
Do not recommend
It’s nothing like the advertisement on Instagram. There is no music just a bunch of sounds and guides. Where is the 8D ADHD specific music. It’s just another Instagram ad for something that does not perform as advertised.
Stop popping up lifetime upgrade thing
I already paid for an annual subscription, but every time I open up the app, I see it quite annoying that I’d need to exit out the pop up message asking me to upgrade to lifetime membership even though I just paid for an annual subscription. I regret my choice to have paid for this now.
Not as advertised, awful
In the free version all of the categories are basically the same sound - click through them and you’ll see it doesn’t even change lol. and don’t even bother getting it if you think the sound from the Instagram ad is going to be on there bc it’s not.
No Support - Low Selection
I tried to cancell at the 7 day trial, unsuccessfully and still have not hear back from support after multiple attempts.
Costly
I declined this service and this application is still attempting to charge my account for $119.
Beware of false advertising!
I downloaded the app and paid for the premium tier exclusively because I liked the audio in the Endel ads all over Instagram (posted by user ADHD Vision). Turns out, none of that audio is available in the app! What is available feels rather generic and repetitive. So disappointing.
Persistent notifications. Horrendous.
I downloaded this based off the suggestion of Easlo, but found the app to be extremely poorly designed. Case in point the sounds don’t stop even when you exit out, and there are persistent notifications you can’t opt out of. I redownloaded the app to leave this negative review.
Scam
I tried this app and canceled the trial after a few days because it wasn’t what I thought it was. Now it keeps trying to charge me $119.
Disappointed
I wouldn’t expect a mindfulness app to push so many merch and other pop-ups to paid members. At least, I wouldn’t have expected this until I subscribed to Endel. Highly disruptive and unchill behavior. Unsubscribed.
Way too expensive
Endel is good at what it does. It’s an effective tool. However, the price puts it out of reach for many. So if you can afford it, great, you got a good product. If not, there are comparable and viable options that are cheaper or free.
Ok, but FALSE ADS! NOT what the ads play. And, they still beg for money after you subscribe.
The ads have these incredible songs/collaborations that are not even remotely close to what is offered in Endel. Do better.
This is a nitpick, but since the app is directed towards people with ADHD and other newer divergent oddities. The fact that there is a 2 to 3 second delay in playing anything that you change or select is irritating. Also, many instances when you select a sound to play Endel has their own little jingle/chime that they play before the actual soothing soundscape comes on. That can definitely be done away with because it’s almost enough for me to cancel my subscription and get rid of the app.
ALSO - this is a huge pet peeve. Even though I am a paid subscriber on a monthly or a yearly basis to this app they cost you with continuous ads every time you open the app for their “lifetime“ access. Seriously. I paid for this app so the advertisements should be zero.
Truly, I subscribe to YouTube channels that have more customized content than what you can do with this overpriced app that doesn’t even do what it advertises.

Marvelous app
Update: issues continues. App is not Usable unless my phone is turn on all the time. If something taps my phone, if I get a call or text the music turns off. This is not how the app used to work. But for me to be able to meditate is impossible now. Waste of money to me now.
Wrote a review talking about the issues with it turning off when getting off the app. It seems they have fixed the issue with an update or perhaps my phone was updating the app and that’s why it stopped working. For whatever reason it stopped working it’s now working exactly has it should and better than ever. They update the types of sounds you can have often of which the newest one is nature and it’s amazing to listen too. This app has pretty much replaced the other apps in my meditation cycles and allowed me to mediate in peace without words or direction. Allows me and my mind to just sync up and calm down. Definitely recommend

Subscription is through Paddle
Makes it harder to cancel because it doesn’t show up in your Apple subscriptions. Hence why I’m sure a TON of people have subscriptions they didn’t actually want after the free trial. Should be illegal to do it this way. Class action lawsuit would be nice.
You killed the app with your greed
Trust me when I say this: no one loved this app more than I did.
But I honestly deleted it after that update. You know which one. I still reinstall it from time to time, hoping you’ll bring back unlimited time for some categories like you used to, but it never happens.
What makes me sad is that this app felt bigger than just making money. I used to want to pay for premium because I loved the app. After the changes, I stopped wanting to support it at all.
I wanted to leave 1 star, but I can’t lie, the app is still great.
So, 2 stars from a disappointed fan.

Not ready for MacOS
I really enjoy Endel and like the iOS features being brought into the Mac App. That said, it’s kinda broken the core functionality and it is very glitchy. One of my favorite features was the menu bar but now it doesn’t work. I miss the ability to change or tune soundscape directly from the menu bar. Then - in categories like “focus”, “relax”, etc - it seem they should be scalable but nothing! Hidden soundscapes that are inaccessible until in the actual player.
Overall, I like the direction the app is headed. I just wish they would fix the bugs and get it working again, especially the menu bar functionality.
-----
Editing to downgrade and say: Please fix it soon! The old version was much better. I miss the menu bar operation and I want playback to start when I click a soundscape. Autoplay!

Not a great value
Overall, it's a good app with multiple different types of sounds to help you study, do office work, relax, etc. it's a lot like listening to soundtracks on YouTube.
Their claim that this is science based is either hilarious or ridiculous, maybe both.
I subscribed for one year but will not be renewing my subscription as I just don't find the value is worth it. Way, way too many ads trying yo upsell you. I am already a Premium subscriber and they keep pitching 50% off lifetime subscription and that's just not gonna happen in the ads are super annoying because they happen every time I open the app.

Premium still has ads
I do not recommend paying for this app because if you get a subscription they still spam you with full-screen ads for “lifetime” membership each time you open the app. The free functionality is capped at ~10 minute focus sessions. The concept is interesting and helpful for focus, but the full screen ad completely ruins the focus experience, as someone with ADHD that ad is an unacceptable paper-cut and I regret buying the year of “premium.”
Besides the full-screen ad, there is ALWAYS an ad for lifetime or merch at the top 1/4 of the home page. The developers are so obsessed with a money grab they couldn’t imagine removing the ads even if you pay.
You are not showing your best deals, you are doing fraud by still showing ads when you advertise that premium eliminates ads. False advertising and fraud.

NAGWARE (even with subscription)
I really like the app except for it’s constant nagging, pop-ups telling you to buy a lifetime subscription.
When I’m having a bad day, etc., and I need to get to some sound relief I can’t immediately listen to those soothing sounds. I have to endure their constant pop-ups before I can get relief.
I like the app, STOP IT! YOU MAKE THE SITUATION WORSE, AND YOU TRIGGER.
Sometimes, I wish that to developers would go through an anxiety attack every time I do when I just opened their app.
I sense the developer saying “we don’t care about you give us your money”.
I gave it two stars instead of one because I enjoy the app when it’s not a triggering, greedy beep.

After subscribing still bombarded by upgrade pop ups
And very little of it is intuitive. I signed up for a year- and the yearly renewal is Much less than what I paid for the first year. In fact there are THIRTY subscription options. Clearly just marketing ploys and little integrity. Save your money.
Meh Quality
Not worth It. The tunes played in the demo are not available/found in the app after enrolling. Attempted to cancel the app…multiple errors resulted. Avoid.
