I will start off by saying that if there is anything on this app that has somehow convinced you to get it- you can find the same for cheaper or even for free (and likely with better quality) elsewhere.
Evernote is a scam - an insanely expensive subscription price just to use basic features that are free on similar apps. I did bite the bullet and paid it initially bc I used to like the evernote UI, but even that has changed hugely ever since they started shoving unwanted AI features into every aspect of it - with no true option to opt out of them. And then they decide that raising their price by almost 90% for a product where the user experience has been decreasing in quality?
Solution: Look somewhere else for whatever you came here for.

Way too many updates
Incredibly inconvenient when i’m traveling for work with bad connection and need to update the app. You should NEVER force updates where we can’t use the app unless we do. It puts us in a situation where we don’t have access to the app (that i’m paying for) when i need it most on the road. It feels like there’s an update every other week. Seriously considering cancelling.

Pesky, annoying and too frequent updates
Updates are too frequent, its just a notepad not a Bank app, the fact that the update files are also large, imposed and mandatory every now and then makes it pesky

I have decided to no longer use Evernote because it has become too materialized and too money-centric. The users are intentionally cornered into paying high monthly subscription while continuously chipping down on the benefits that come with the free version.
You are now restricted to a single device on the free plan, down from five devices in the past. Additionally, they have forcefully injected ads and other unwanted content into your account.
Additionally, the mobile app as well as the standard browser app on your computer is constantly having disruptive pop-ups to limit or restrict you as well as selling products to you.
This app has gone down big time after having been the best app. Way to go on destroying your product, brand, and reputation.

Turn off AI
Is Evernote done? If they keep going down the AI route then they are. If they don’t turn off the AI then I will be cancelling my subscription next month.

Font Size impossible to change.
Evernote user for 20+ years. Simple needs with no fancy upgrades needed. The need to size fonts is very important as I don’t see well. Latest “update“ has made it impossible for me to adjust font sizes. Also, no discount for seniors makes it hard to justify $16+ a month just to save a recipe here and there. How can I enlarge one word within a sentence????

I eventually moved to Microsoft OneNote because it’s more affordable and, frankly, has surpassed Evernote in both usability and value.
Coming back now to retrieve my data has been a frustrating and disappointing experience. Features that used to be standard are now locked behind aggressive limitations. The web app refuses access due to notebook limits. Device restrictions prevent normal syncing. The overall experience feels intentionally designed to make it difficult to leave without paying again.
Call it what you want, but from a user perspective it feels like my own data is being held behind artificial barriers.
I understand companies need to monetize, but there’s a difference between charging for features and creating friction around data access. This approach erodes trust and punishes long-time users who simply want to move on.
I would strongly recommend that anyone considering Evernote think carefully about long-term data ownership and exit costs. Getting your information in is easy. Getting it out is another story.

This app is trash i wrote a couple of songs here and once i upgraded i lost everything and when i wrote the company to try and retrieve my data they never responded so now ive lost almost sn album worth pf songs if i could hive negative stars i would
App unusable on iOS.
I have two Evernote accounts. When attempting to switch to the other account, there is an indication that I’m tapping the other account but nothing happens. No error. No feedback. Nothing. It simply just doesn’t do anything. Am forced to use the other account on a PC.
Started good now scam
I’ve used Evernote many years. Now I have it. I pay every year to sync three devices. I tried to log into a computer over the Internet and now I’m locked out of all my devices no matter what I do. No way to contact customer service.
They will do it to you sooner or later
When the nonstop price increases eventually zoom past your limit, this developer has no reservations about holding years of saved and curated content ransom. Expect the unexpected: unskippable ads before you can log in; forced surveys to help you decide how much money you should pay them; deciding which of “one” devices to “sync” to. Export your data regularly, it’s only a matter of time before that option gets paywalled (if it hasn’t happened already).

This mediocre unweildy app just increased subscription price by almost 50%

Paywall for everything
I never right a review for anything. Used this a few years ago. Worked fine. Now there’s a paywall for everything. Claims I have several devices connected to account and need to subscribe to continue to use. Try to disconnect other devices to continue using for free and app stops working. Complete penny pinching for such a simple software offered by others for free

This app lost its way
I’ve used Evernote for years, but the current state of this app is a disgrace. They’ve managed to take a simple concept-storing notes-and bury it under a bloated, glitchy interface and offensive pricing. $230 a year for an app that lags, glitches, and loses my files? Absolutely not. Between the draconian device restrictions on the free plan and the "unusable" performance of the paid tier, they’ve officially lost the plot. Don’t waste your time or your money. Export your data while you still can and move to Notion or many of the other legitimate options.

How many popyps do you need??
Its a solid app that I’ve used for years. The frustrating part is the popups prompting you to pay for the premium version. There is usually 3+ popups every time you open the app. They are deliberately designed to make you click on the accept button as they move the decline button to an odd place and the make the button very small and hard to press the first time.
Im not paying for a note app. And at this point, id rather pay for a different note app just out of spite.
