Expedia is hosting fraudulent "ghost listings" with zero verification. My recent booking was a total bait-and-switch for a non-existent hotel that was actually a predatory, hazardous environment. Beyond severe structural and fire-safety risks like exposed wiring and bolted fire exits, the platform failed my personal security as a solo female traveler. I was isolated in darkness with lights deliberately cut off and denied communication access. Despite admitting the property was "unreachable," Expedia refused a cash refund, offering only store credit. They prioritize profit over basic human safety. Do not trust this platform for international travel; it is a liability, not a service.

Terrible customer service
Absolutely pathetic service from Preethika. The lack of empathy and professionalism is honestly mind-blowing. She was fully aware that this issue wasn't just some minor inconvenience-it was taking a toll on my emotional well-being and sabotaging my birthday celebration-yet she still chose to do the absolute bare minimum.
Zero effort to go 'above and beyond' or solve a critical situation. If you’re looking for someone who actually gives a damn about the customer or possesses a shred of humanity, don't waste your breath with her. She completely soured what was supposed to be a special day. Utterly disappointing.

I reserved a room with an ocean view when I got there they did check us in early and I was appreciated about that. We had three people in the room and they would only give us a voucher for two people for the breakfast. Makes no sense when I’m purchasing for three then they gave me a room that didn’t have an ocean view. It actually was a rooftop view, but if you stand out on the Balance left, you can kind of see the ocean. I wrote over the review about it funny how after a few minutes later right after I did. Upgraded to a room upstairs, but it was not a handicap room didn’t make sense that they couldn’t give us that room in the first gave us a better room and the rooms aren’t all that great. The first room they gave us was supposed to be a handicap. Would barely even open in the bathroom. If you were in a wheelchair, it would be very difficult to get out all the cabinet doors are very not counting when I was talking to the lady at the desk the first lady about checking in asking her about the food voucher and she would interrupt me as I was talking and saying two per room that’s all she kept doing professionals, considering that this is supposed to be a very good hotel organization then they didn’t even have the lunch open during lunchtime And the first room we were complaining about they told us that that was an ocean view and wouldn’t do anything funny how after complained on the review the first one I gave they upgraded the room to the top floor so they don’t really care about their customer I probably would not go there again. I probably would stay next-door to. The hard rock unless they gave me a free room I would not purchase one again very sad. We had a family member that was coming and we months ahead of time

Worse place ever
This was the worst place I’ve ever stayed for their lack of provisions typical of hotel stays. They did not offer a breakfast of any kind which was fine because they had a full kitchen and I was staying 5 nights. There was NOT 1 glass, cup, plate, pan etc. All the things that come with a room that has a full kitchen..Absolutely Nothing provided! They will sell you a package of plates and a separate package of pots and pans! NO DESCRIPTION OF THIS WAS PROVIDED! No hand towels provided and place reeked of “pot” among some of the other issues. I was very unhappy here. I had booked through Expedia and the hotel refused to give a refund for my early checkout! Be aware and ask questions about what they provide if you choose to stay here but you would be better off elsewhere.

Poor customer service and I need a refund for the upgraded room I purchased my room wasn't partial ocean view. This is not a real all inclusive hotel, no iron, blow dryer in the room. When you request these items they never arrive...When you request room service it never arrives

Worst app
Be careful because something they don’t tell you is that even if you buy a “ fully refundable” flight, they still find ways to keep your money. I paid almost 1,000$ for a ticket and when I wanted to change the dates they suddenly couldn’t make a refund😐. They said I would get flight credit, but the credit didnt even show up so I had to call them myself. Then on top of that I had to pay 390$ extra to change the flight, which makes no sense because I was supposed to already have “credit”. Later I needed to change it aging because life happens and not everything goes as planned. This time I did it myself because I was already tired of paying more money. I picked a cheaper flight thinking the remaining credit would stay in my account, but somehow like 600$ dollars just disappeared. Imagine working 10 hours overnight shifts doing a job you hate, saving every dollar you can. Just for a travel company to take your money away like it’s nothing. After this trip I’d rather buy directly from the airline because these apps are honestly the worst.

Your app keeps freezing. I try and look at flights that I am watching and if I’m lucky, I can click on the one that I’m interested in. But most of the time I have had to reboot. I have now deleted the app and reopened it up again.

Editing Posts
This app needs to allow us to edit our posts. I recently made an error on a post concerning a visit I’d booked through Expedia all of which was complementary except that I made a mistake on the post. And, users are not allowed to go back and revise once posted. I’m embarrassed at my mistake and humiliated that I am not allowed to change it nor can I find where in the app or on the website I can get any assistance changing it. For now the post remains out there and I remain helpless to do anything about it. I’m very sadly disappointed.

You pay extra for exchanges and refunds, and you still have to pay, and support doesn't help.
I been using this app for a long time, and it’s not the first time that I have an issue.
According to the app, they offer extra fees for refunds and date changes, but they only give you one change. After that, they ask you to pay extra. When you need a refund, they only give you credit, arguing that if you need help, you should contact the airline directly. So what's the point of the help button? I chose it because it's quick to use, but when you have a problem, they don't help you and tell you they can't do anything. Even if you pay extra, they don't help you and they still charge you for changes.
It’s the second time and last time.

Totally took my money
Booked two rooms wrong date came up coincidentally after I changed it twice then get to the hotel and they tell me everybody that’s entering the room has to have ID well. My wife and me are on vacation. She don’t need to bring her ID. We’re driving and I’m driving so she could not enter the room ask run money back to the hotel. Manager said yes Expedia say yes you never got anything.

Worst of the worst
We booked flights and hotel with Expedia after 12 hours at the airport we had our flights canceled due to airline delays and shortages. Airline refund our tickets but Expedia doesn’t want to refund the hotel even though we booked together. It’s so frustrating they just don’t care and don’t even try to help.

Technical issues they can’t resolve
I have never left a review. However, this time, I have no choice.
I booked a work trip for one night and it included airfare, hotel and rental car. For some strange reason, every time I started a new reservation, the reservation would self populate with the letter “t” and then my last name. My first name begins with an “R”. It was strange but I changed all the reservations to my correct first and last name. I paid for the reservations and received confirmation emails. When I went to check in day of flight, the air carrier could not find my reservation. I tried for two hours to rectify the situation but was unable. I then had to make additional air, hotel and car rental reservations.
When I checked in for my flight, I asked if there was another person with my last name(it’s not common) had s flight. The counter attendant confirmed that there was a “t” with my last name on the flight.
When I had a chance to finally contact Expedia and asked what had happened, I was asked what name was on my account. I looked it up and indicated that it was indeed in my first name. I was then told I had few options snd none for compensation for the reservation that had already occurred. At best, I might get a credit for the one flight that I had not yet taken. Unfortunately by then I had no time to pursue that as my return flight was two hours later.
The work trip cost me approximately $900 out of pocket and I WILL NEVER USE EXPEDIA AGAIN.

Virtual Agent Unauthorized Cancellation - Ruined Our Trip
I was looking at my cancellation options and the Virtual Agent canceled my entire package (Talking Stick Resort hotel + Enterprise car rental) without my permission right before the trip. I never requested or authorized it.
On top of that, their customer service is very hard to communicate with - long holds, repetitive virtual agents, and no clear resolution after hours of effort. They ruined our planned trip.

Absolutely No Help
I understand the utter chaos that is happening due to the immediate aftermath of Spirit Airlines closure but with 7 plus hours of wait time with Expedia’s customer service and then absolutely no assistance with refunds or cancellation, I’m furious. It’s taken me 2 days to finally speak to someone to find out that there’s nothing that can be done to assist me. Just a complete lack of support.
