This app is not complicated or elaborate. It’s not fun to use, or pleasant to look at. It was not a feat of engineering to make. But it had one job, which was to marginally improve the formatting of some publicly available information. And it was ok at it. In return, its developer was granted a lifestyle of freedom and opulence that few can dream of.
But as always, it wasn’t enough. Inspired, perhaps, by rent seeking everywhere, the author of this short work decided that for the privilege of using bookmarks, you should now pay him $3/month to exist.
I’d rather use a WSDOT website. Which is saying something.

The ferry was cancelled due to mechanical issues and they didn’t even reflect it in the app even though it was an all day thing. Seems like a very simple thing to do

The latest update gives a bad customer experience and undermines trust.

I have loved this app for years, and it's saved me a lot of headache as someone new to the area when I first used it. The new update is full of invasive microtransactional bloat. Why does it need and keep asking for my location? Why is the favorite route option now locked behind a subscription service? The routes are much harder to navigate to, and the readability of the app is gone with all the UI changes.
If the creator needs more support, then ask for it. Turning people's generosity into a near requirement to use the app normally is malicious.

This is unacceptable
What is the point of using this app when nothing is updated? We have been sitting at the ferry landing in Anacortes for over three hours and the app says we are supposed to be arriving at Lopez right now on the Yakima. The Yakima, meanwhile, is parked at the landing with its lights off, probably out of commission. Again. No one has updated us on the situation. No ferry workers are to be found anywhere. I had to gather info piecemeal from other passengers who are also stuck here, and the latest rumor is that we will have to wait two and a half more hours. But of course, the app doesn’t have any updates.
This is unacceptable. The worst part is, I’ve been told from people who live on the islands that this happens all the time. I don’t plan on ever returning to the San Juans, solely due to the incompetence of those running the ferry system.

Rising costs should have the following
Commute to get to Tukwila from bremerton ferry not having a 7ish AM departure to Seattle and 9ish PM DEPARTURE from Seattle to Bremerton daily. $34 per trip $280 for 20 ride should have these times and more availability
Extremely rude
I just wish the people helping you get on the ferry were nicer. We were not sure how far to go down the boat. We thought we were in the right position. The gentleman asked us with a smart remark’”does your car not work”. We made a mistake he could of assisted us instead of being disrespectful l. We ride the ferry a bunch and I no it’s not an easy job but we do deserve some kind of respect, it was an honest mistake.

It’s a gamble on if app is accurate
App will tell you boat is 2 minutes late then at ticket booth find out it’s actually 45 minutes late.
