Button problem destroyed the game
FF7 is one of my favorite games and I like playing it every couple of years. I was pumped that I could play it on my phone but it’s become utterly unplayable due to the controls automatically hitting a button 4 or 5 times in battle. So frustrating. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS GAME.

Can’t get passed Aeriths room! The control won’t let me slow walk!

The game is in a broken state and has been for at least a year. When you hit the ‘a’/‘x’ button, the game auto selects 3-4 times. You have no control over combat.
Still no fix for the self pressing buttons
While the port is very good and graphics are polished, there is a big issue where during battles the x/a button will press by itself and will cause you characters to execute commands on their own. This is not present when using controller but the point of having it on the phone is to not carry more items to play the game.
Fix your game
This game is unplayable for one reason. Pressing A once is impossible. This did not exist on my previous phone.

Occasionally, the game will crash and I’ll lose any progress I’ve made from my previous save. Also, this was once integrated into the iOS Game Center and was collecting achievements. Where did that go? One of the sole purposes I love to play this game.

Game doesn’t have any sound. Tried downloading, redownloading, redownloading, change sound in config, turning off my Bluetooth, turning up my sound and still nothing. For some reason I’m unable to request a refund too, so complete waste of money.

A button glitch

I spent 15 bucks on this game then saw a final fantasy 7 game that was free and has better texters that this game wich is badder then the wii with the worst texters ever made and this proved me that their is worst texters than the wii.Give me my money back pls.
No idea
This game may be great, but I have no idea because the select button continuously activates, making it unplayable. This is a turn-based combat system that does not allow any selections with this bug. How is this a thing? From the reviews, it appears that it is not even uncommon. Rebooting and reinstalling do not work, so I guess you are just screwed if it shows up. I have my fingers crossed for the refund, but I would not recommend it.
Unforgivable
I LOVE this game but the simple fact that it constantly thinks I’m pressing A during combat makes this port unplayable waste of $18. The only command I can use effectively is ‘Attack’. Anytime I go use any other command like magic, it will auto select the first one I have equipped. This glitch makes it virtually impossible to play without a controller in which case, buy the console version! I’m not eligible for refund because it’s a 40+ hour RPG that only gives you these issues with progress. DONT BUY
Too many bugs
The game constantly just goes back to the title screen on its own during gameplay which causes me to lose unsaved progress. Also some of the minigames are sped up to the point where they are unplayable. It's not a good port. These games operate way better on Android and are much less expensive as well. I don't know why everything is so much more expensive on iOS than on Android.

This worked great for years and now there’s no audio.

Happens in other menus as well. Tried troubleshooting to no avail. Not using controller. Other complaints of this in reviews so clearly a common problem. Fix this and my review is 5 stars. I own this on Steam and it isn’t a problem there.
Not optimized for IPhone X
Screen is not wide screen. Very hard to see.

I asked about auto battle and what the a / d button next to the encounters on the bottom and I got this awful response. Ask the community bro that’s all you get for $18 bucks.

Game breaking bug
Sadly unable to complete this play through due to a control bug. Fighting the red dragon in the temple of the ancients, a tough fight - whenever I attempt to use a phoenix down, the game registers multiple taps of the a button and automatically uses the phoenix down on the same character who is using it. This makes it impossible to revive fallen party members. Using iPhone 16 Plus on iOS 18.4
Input issue with all controllers
All controllers register double inputs on face and shoulder buttons. Issue is within the game itself. Tried backbone, kishi, DualShock, etc all do it.
Not playable now
I’ve had this app for years, but they have apparently abandoned it. It is very hard to play now. Want to cure? Nah, attack yourself. The menu and battle system are not functional. Buttons do random things. It has been almost a year since I saw this was unplayable. My favorite game ever is now unplayable on my iPhone. Do not buy until you see an update and more recent reviews say it is fixed.
Bugs make the game unplayable
Selecting one menu item cause all following selections to be made automatically. Clicking item selects the item before you get a chance to choose.
In Game Control Pad Faulty
Everything works correctly except the “A” button, which activates multiple times with each press. This makes the game unplayable.

I downloaded this game and it has frozen every time I try to start the game. I loved the OG FF8 but sadly this doesn’t play on the new iOS
No Vision Pro compatibility
For unknown reasons, the app is not available for download on the Vision Pro.
Submarine glitch
Dozens of hours into the game, nearing the end snd trying to pick up some of the best goodies, I've discovered my submarine is stuck in Junon's port. I can't move it, can't submerge it, and cannot access the underwater cavern. Nor will I be able to fight Emerald weapon. What an absolute bummer to feel like I've wasted so much time just to get screwed by a glitch.
No update after 7 years?
This is stuck at iPhone 7. We are at iPhone 15. All other final fantasy games on iOS are updated and run well. Why did square Enix completely abandoned VII? And why does Apple allow them to keep selling a game that does not work great on current phone screens? Pathetic

Cash grab (worse than an emulator)
I bought this game for $16 thinking it was going to be like ff8 remastered however it’s way worst than I thought. Sure it’s ff7 but it’s not wroth the money imo. There’s no 2x speed. Clunky controls. IT’s worse than a free emulator on pc.

Cant sneak past Aerith’s room in midgar because they didn't add walking in mobile, game is completely broken don't waste your money
Not Optimized for iPhone 14
Screen resolution isn’t optimized for iPhone 14. It doesn’t make full use of the iPhone screen on the sides and top, and it’s difficult to see what’s going on. I understand there being side bars because it was originally designed for 1990s TVs, but the fact that it doesn’t make use of the full top and bottom of the screen is problematic.
iCloud feature does not work
I downloaded in iphone and ipad, and started in phone. I saved it in phone and uploaded in icloud, but it doesn’t show in iPad version of the game. Both device are logged in with the same id

This game deserves a one star rating because of its mechanics and boring gameplay and unnecessary trans/cross dressing bashing.
The games storyline is garbage as none of the characters have any redeeming qualities.
We didn’t need cross dressing nor did we need aeris giggling about it and mocking crossdressing
It’s a hobby that some men do for fun. Should we encourage others to giggle? No.
Also we didn’t need a brothel scene or aeris and tifa infiltrating it.
The game play is slow and you can’t speed it up.
Time ending from a battle is slow

Cloud is unnecessarily cold and an identity thief as he poses as Zack. Later in the game you discover it was choice not a memory lapse.
Aeris is ridiculously impulsive and rude to her teammates. Many times she’s aware tifa is around but makes backhanded comments
Tifa is eye candy and obnoxious
Barret is foul mouthed and did we really need a black man stereotypes with barret ?
Red xiii is another cold hearted dog man

This is a terrible port for iPad Pro. I have no idea what age these reviewers are living in, but this is much worse than any game I’ve played since DOS computers. I could possibly handle the pixelation which doesn’t transfer well, but the controls are complicated and there wasn’t an explanation. Some of you might like it, so just watch someone play it on YouTube first. To me, it’s not worth .99 cents, let alone $14.99.
No Sound on iPhone 12

Unplayable because of a button bug
More often than not it if you press a once it will spam A Like 5-6 times really fast. In a battle and need to use phoenix down ? Hopefully you don’t get hit with this bug cause it will phoenix down your alive character then spam whatever the next ready character is. I’ve rage quit so many times I can’t imagine what it will be like when I hit a challenging boss. I figured maybe I hadn’t updated in a while and this is fixed but no. Also I thought maybe user error ? Maybe my fat thumbs are just holding down too long but nope I do the most brief tap I can possibly do and it presses A 6 times. I tried to equip gear and counted it do this 11 times in a row
A button issues
Hopefully they update it but as of right now it’s unplayable without a controller add-on. Anytime I tap the A button once it registers as 3-4 clicks.
Blue Bars ruin experience
I wish developers would include a choice of what color to make the ratio bars. That blue color ruins the experience of playing this on iPhone for me. I would prefer black. Take cues from the switch version. This has been like this since it was initially released. Please fix it!

Love the game but it needs some love for newer phones
Great port, but one glaring problem after redownloading this on my iPhone 12 Pro Max is the screen, it really needs an update for full screen phones I’m already playing in letterbox with a border and it doesn’t even come close to filling the screen! Please. Update for full screen display phones.
Great game…..bad set up
I have been a fan of FF7 for as long as I can remember! This game definitely jogs some childhood memories. Gameplay and story are unmatched, my only problem is the controls on the iPhone. Once I get to the scene where Tifa has to break out of the gas chamber I can go any further. The game requires a two (2) button push at the same time but the controls on the iPhone will not allow for a two (2) button press essentially stopping the game dead in the tracks and I cannot proceed after that. If anyone has a way to get passed this I would greatly appreciate it. The game itself get 10 stars. The controls get a zero Please fix this issue
Non-Playable on 12 Pro
Phone goes to sleep when using a bluetooth controller since the screen is not getting input. Status bar remains on the screen after the game launches and stays, very distracting. Graphics looks worse than my actually PS1 playing FF7. This feels like a quick, poorly done port as a quick cash grab.

Very poor use of newer screens.
The game appears to function, but looks terrible (and I’m not talking about PS1 graphics). The actual playable screen space is about 1/3 of the total display in newer iPhones. The entire thing runs in a double letterbox (each a different color), with a triple letterbox for videos. Controls overlap the playable screen despite significant unused space. Finally, floating UI elements are left on, further distracting from a game that deserves far better treatment.
