Took rent out twice.
I recently had two cards charged for my June rent and so I was charged twice for June rent and I tried to chat with customer support and I got a robot. They denied it I have screenshots. I have bank statements. And now I just found out paying July because I don’t want a late fee from my apartment complex. This freaking blows chunks.
Nickel and dime
Honestly, they probably get you out of a rush, but the nickel and dime you everywhere charges for membership, another charge for processing payments don’t use

I have tried numerous times to adjust payments because my apartment’s rentcafe is not working properly, to no avail. The chat is of no help in finding relief. I can’t understand why the chat is the only option for communicating. It doesn’t resolve any situation you’re trying to solve.

This app needs a lot of help
not worth it
The app isn't designed to give you all of the information you need. It no longer allows you to add money to their "wallet" unless you have a second debit card on file with them. The fees that the Flex app charges are separate from the "activity" or billing section. It also doesn't split the payments 50/50 if the actual rent amount is higher than the estimated rent. The AI assistant simultaneously knows everything and nothing. When asked about charges it can break it down line for line, but when asked about speaking to someone via phone call it doesn't know your name, number, or email. It will also do anything to make sure you don't speak with a person. The app is designed so that reaching the help center isn't in app and there is no contact information to get a hold with someone rather than AI. Over all very poor experience with the app and not renter friendly.
Need to do better
Even though it does what it’s supposed to but it’s the wait time and my anxiety and stress goes thru the roof. In the serious side they need to have live agents available and a number to call when your in distress. Sorry for the one star but please take in consideration about people’s mental state. It’s not all fun and jokes you know. There are other bills that need to get paid and want to make sure you still have enough to cover important expenses. Thank you for your wonderful attention to this post.
So unhelpful and app glitches way too much
I’ve tried over 30 times now to add funds to my flex balance and I’m consistently met with an error message (no it’s not my card, no I have not met my deposit limit) and when I try to ask for help the only option is an AI bot who just regurgitates the same unhelpful information. I need to pay my rent! Where are the humans?!

They keep denying me, but also won’t leave me alone
I’ve been denied many times, but for some reason I keep getting emails back to back to back saying that I can reapply so I do and I’m still denied.

I appreciate the convenience however, It’s really difficult to contact someone regarding your account. I have been trying for the past 3 mts. Still no resolve. Beyond frustrating…
terrible app
i lost my debit card linked to my account and need a new card number. flex logged me out once it realized my card wasn’t working anymore. the app won’t let me login but still managed to take out the money for the rest of my june rent. don’t know how the did that since i have a different card number now and they wouldn’t let me login because of it. i’ll be cancelling my membership but i can barely do that because i still can’t login and they don’t have a customer service line. just a dumb chatbot.

There are a lot of fees that shouldn’t be fees like why am I paying five dollars for this app a month. I’d rather have it paper so I can save $60 a year.

If you have an issue, you have to talk to their ai chat bot. No support person to call. They might reach out to you via email, but when your rent payment is on the line, having to wait hours or days to hear back is stressful. They’ll try to blame you for their app not functioning properly. They’ll try to blame you for your payment not going through, when you’ve done all the steps correctly. You’ll have to try to convince them multiple times that you in fact, have done the steps properly. I did my part, they had my money already, I can’t help that their service is faulty. 🤷♂️

I reached ahead of time and offered all that I had which was the amount of my second payment and they refused and charged my first payment amount creating financial hardship for me. For a company that helps people manage finances when times are tough, Im shocked that the pushed financial hardship onto a paying member.

I’ll start off by saying that I love the fact that you guys allow us residence to pay half the first part of the month and the second half the second part of the month but what I don’t like is all the extra added fees on top of that because I’m already having to cut my rent into partial payments so that I can afford to make the payment and then you guys add on extra money to a payment that I don’t really have so your ““ free app is not free and I don’t like that you advertise it like that

In February 2026, I experienced an unexpected financial hardship that temporarily affected my ability to stay on track. I understand that situations like this can happen, which is exactly why services like Flex Rent exist-to help people navigate temporary financial challenges and avoid falling behind while they get back on their feet.
Since then, I have worked hard to improve my financial situation. I took on an additional job, my income has stabilized, and I am now financially secure and fully capable of meeting my obligations. However, here we are in July 2026, and I am still unable to use the service despite my circumstances having completely changed.
It’s disappointing because Flex Rent is marketed as a solution for people experiencing temporary financial setbacks. Instead of recognizing when a customer has recovered and allowing them to continue using the service, it feels like one difficult season has resulted in a permanent loss of access.
As a long-time customer, I had hoped my loyalty and current financial stability would be taken into consideration. I believe there should be a fair review process that allows customers who have overcome temporary hardships to regain access to the service.
I truly value what Flex Rent offers and would gladly continue using it. I hope the company will reconsider its policies and provide loyal customers with an opportunity to requalify after demonstrating improved financial stability. A service designed to help people through difficult times should also support them once they’ve successfully recovered
