As long their core cheating group keeps paying, they have enough to be relevant. But the organization does nothing to prevent cheating and even promotes by doing nothing about it when reported. You can log any cache at any time and get thousands of finds from your computer at home. Defeats the purpose for those who are playing the game well. And don't question them or they threaten termination. They only want your money like a bad religious group.
Waste of time
This used to be an app for doing something fun and exciting but it’s just a money making scheme. All the other reviews that aren’t AI/paid for are saying the same thing “stop trying to charge us, stop making up excuses on why this app can’t run properly like other apps. Stop pretending you have the users interest at heart”

Caches are not up to date
There are so many cashes that are listed on this map that gets me excited to hunt them. But then I find out that they have not been maintained or missing and it becomes a huge, huge huge waste of time. This app should automatically hide or filter out any caches that are not current by DEFAULT

Can’t even get into the app because it says every user name I try is unavailable and gives no option to choose from. Unfortunately, I am going to have to delete this app for that purpose because I can’t even log in.

DO NOT TRESPASS!
On 12/31/2021, someone named FLAMAZN placed a “Bigfoot Sighting” on my private property, without my consent.
The item was not found until 2/16/2026.
I was completely unaware people were using this app to trespass on my private property, between 12/31/2021 and 2/16/2026.
On 3/5/2026 my security camera caught someone trespassing on my private property. These people saw my security camera, and disabled it.
Geocaching is absolutely NOT an excuse to trespass on private property.
Be careful out there! You might get more than you bargained for!

Gatekeepers
All I wanted to do was set up to caches for my Girl Scout troop submitted everything and was told my account was a “sock puppet“ account I had to look up what that was. They accused me of having a band account and or being deceitful with my account because I created it six months ago and didn’t use it until the Girl Scouts were ready too. I even wrote my submissions that the ones I was putting in place were for Girl Scouts, but didn’t matter. Was then asked what other geocachers I know I’ve never done it before I don’t know any. Why don’t you have any finds? Uh because I go to school, work, have kids and lead a Girl Scout troop. Absolutely ridiculous.

Complete Trash
This app needs an expert mode. There’s no reason why someone with thousands of finds needs to dismiss irritating condescending popups like we don’t know what we’re doing. This app also uses a ridiculous amount of data for something to be used in the field. Expect irritating spinning circles as it struggles to load the smallest of things. There’s also no back button so if you open a geo tour and look at a cache, there’s no way to go back to viewing the geotour. This app is pure developer negligence and Groundspeak knows this. They withhold access to certain features from their API such as the messaging center so that users of better apps are forced to also have this one to perform basic functions.
Stop using AI generated images
I love geocaching but I can’t support a company that chooses to use AI “art” instead of supporting real artists.
Don’t bother
The app doesn’t explain the hobby well to new people. The hobby is criminally mis managed by the makers of this app. Most hides will take you to parking lots and the people who engage in this hobby act like adult children who have no concept of the honor system.
Lots of quality of life features hidden behind paywall
You don’t have access to cache tips, coordinates, pictures, or anything unless you pay them. But the free version lets you see a bunch of question marks on a map that constantly tries to upsell you on a premium subscription. It’s one thing if the app is usable in its free form, but you just released a barely passable app to pus premium subscriptions. On top of them making money off the data they sell from us, they want us to also pay them more money. Very predatory, strongly recommend any other company for this type of service.
No longer a free activity
This app was great. Me and my nephews would find a cache here and there. Always fun to get out and hunt. But now, most of the caches around me are ‘premium’ and they want $40 a year to find them.
They ruined a nice free, fun, activity that we could do with kids, and keep them off their games, with a paywall. Shameful

Paying for "harder" caches
I used to use this app all the time, but deleted it for a few years with some life changes. I just redownloaded it and it wants me to pay to see caches that are super simple and I have done before, but someone labeled them as hard? A cache that is a tackle box behind a main bench on a path we walk all the time. Locked. A cache i revisited two days ago? Locked. My favorite cache that I do a hike to visit on my birthday every year? You guessed it, locked. Hundreds of caches I have done before that are not difficult at all (because I physically can not do the actual hard ones) I can no longer report that I completed, revisited, that they have moved, or are missing.

I don’t know what happened
I don’t know what happened but the app suddenly went cheap. You can’t find any friends, my profile is very minimal, and the cache page is almost useless.
Not for kids
I took my kids 5 and 10 to five different locations and we could not find anything. I don’t know if the homeless people have stolen all the catches or they are too hidden. Regardless it is a great excuse to go to the park and play outside. But I dont need to pay the premium for that. So this app is not for me and my family in the area we live in. Who knows maybe in another state where they don’t allow homeless people to make encampments in our parks that would work.
Was great, but isn't anymore
geocaching used to be a cash or you can search for any and it wasn't a pay wall behind the Geocaching premium but unfortunately uses other than that is a great app. That is the reason for the two stars unfortunately.
