History for the lowest common denominator
I wanted to hear about the actual battle and events that transpired that summer in 1863. Instead I heard a ranting of revisionist history and over generalizations, while driving to random places.
Give me stories of people in the battle, what they did, and what it was like, not how this fits into modern politics.

Crashes
We downloaded the app and used it for the four. When it worked, it was great. However, it crashed so many times! We spent more time pulled over to restart the app and find where we left off. So frustrating! $25 !?!? That’s the most I have ever spent on an app! I have the iPhone 14 and I did reboot several times as well as install and uninstall the app repeatedly….still no difference. Cannot recommend.
Did not work
It kept crashing my phone and didn’t work at all. The detours on the phone and app were different and after the wheatfield we just gave up as the tour was NOT working. I spent $25 to have all the tours and honestly won’t use or recommend this app again. It was so annoying and frustrating!

In a quote I would expect to hear what was actually said, unless it was stated otherwise, or if a deplorable word was used and no longer appropriate. So is the word God now deplorable and not appropriate to use or be said? In the current app version (9/2022) the Gettysburg Address, which my kids had memorized and was saying along with the recording while the Gettysburg Address was being quoted, removed the word God, and also removed it from the written form on the app. Really?
App no longer working
This was an awesome app when I purchased it but lately it crashes every time I try to open it. I tried to report the issue but can’t seem to find a way to get ahold of the developer. Hoping this review gets some attention.
Audio Took out Under God
Overall the tour was great. In fact I would give it 5 stars but the fact the pre recorded audio guide took out the words “under God” from the Gettysburg Address is such a blatant disregard for history and ignorance of God’s hand in the eventual victory of the Union at Gettysburg and the war itself. Please consider putting those 2 vital words back in one of the most important address ever given.
Piece o’ crap
Had to give one star because they don’t have negatives. This app showed me where I was and then never followed me wherever I was, even when standing in place. If you can remember the comments it gives until you get to the actual place, then it’s useful. The locations commented in were random. And the only way to stop it is to end it, wasting the purchase.

Weak content
The content is very weak. There is very little substantive information, aside from generalities about “pools of blood.” Strategic movements, personalities, context, etc is totally lacking. If you care about deeper commentary, this is not your app. The average audio clip is thirty seconds and says next to nothing. What’s more, the syncing is awful. The audio rarely arrives when it’s supposed to. Honestly, I ended up just turning the app off.
Broken
bought this app over the summer and didn’t get a chance to use it yet. I tried to open it today and it keeps crashing. Restart the phone and still not able to use the app. Had high hopes for it. Very disappointed
Little content
Gives very little info at each stop. The free national park brochure has just as much.
Rip off!
Represents it as a free app, but only the demo is free. After listening to the demo on the battlefield, it continually asks if you wish to purchase it for $9.99. I replied no, but my credit card was charged $9.99.
Updated now not working
Looked great. Was going to pay for the upgrade next week for trip. Now app doesn’t work. Flashes on flashes off.

Waste of Money - Tour Would Not Download
After installing the app you have to download the media files for the tour. I attempted to download it multiple times. It would proceed to 3 or 4% every time before failing and exiting with an error. It totally ruined our experience and wasted what little daylight we had. Save the money and search up Gettysburg auto tour videos on YouTube. I had no problem downloading them.

Doesn’t Support Apple CarPlay
I was looking for a tour that would show me a map of my progress on the battlefield while also giving me the gps-triggered narrative. While I appreciated the clear and no-drama contextualized narrative of the highlights at and between stops, it took me 30 minutes of struggling to connect the audio tour to my Apple CarPlay in the parking lot of the Visitors Center that I finally clicked the right button which told me the app wasn’t optimized for CarPlay and Androids. Instead, I was informed I could still follow my progress on my iPhone. That might be fine if I had someone to hold it and direct me. But I was touring the battlefield alone. If you’re using Apple CarPlay or an Android, avoid this app.

A perfect example of misleading narratives
The app itself is a stroke of genius. A driving tour that triggers audio stories at certain markers and sends you all over the town. Loved that aspect. The information is extremely simplistic and political and lacks any nuance. It’s a perfect example of, while facts can lead us to explore truths, they can also be used to press us into misleading narratives. The intro for example sets the tone that the south was morally impaired and was fighting for slavery rather than their independence, while framing the north as a free place that simply couldn’t let the south go because .”...the states would no longer be United.” Yikes. It then sets off to demonize men like Robert E Lee, first by framing him as “ the son of a prominent plantation owner, ( Henry Lighthorse Lee who was also a patriot and a war hero, but that is not mentioned) then goes on to say he had hundreds of slaves( his wife’s) and that he treated them so poorly that they wished to revolt; ( the only sources for this are based on a female modern historian who is a radical leftest, modern feminist, and surmises her history on a few of anecdotes that no way reflect the overall character of the man.) After this I pretty much understood what I was getting into. I wanted to hear an objective version of the battle; get a feel for the characters involved and feel it for the glory and horror and intensity that is war. Instead I got a cherry picking of facts that support a narrative that makes literally no one look good, and find myself wondering why they bother giving a tour at all.

The map and map guidance portion of app was very confusing. Narration was ok but some information was historically inaccurate, especially the information on treatment of the wounded. The National Park Rangers provide a better presentation at the visitor center.
Disappointed
Would it have been too much to give battle insight and stories during all the dead space? Problematic that map function turns off when narrator talks. Mostly a waste of seven bucks. Disappointed! Two stars might be a stretch.
