Terrible
Terrible. Confusing convoluted idiotic app. Takes control of your photos in a confusing deceptive way. I hate it. It should not be allowed to take control of your iPhotos or iCloud but it does. It’s like a virus or spyware.
Google Photos is starting to have so many problems
Some photos are randomly larger than others, even when you zoom into the “compact” view layout. Also, a lot of videos are randomly in slow motion. And finally, it doesn’t sync as well with Apple photos anymore. You used to be able to star a photo in Apple photos and then it would automatically star in Google Photos, but it doesn’t do that anymore. Google Photos is starting to have a lot of problems lately. Can anybody recommend another photo backup site? It might be time to switch to iCloud honestly.
Shimmer Outline
This is the most invasive, unnecessary feature. It is distracting, hurts my eyes and makes me not even want to use this app. Do you really think people are making that many stickers of themselves that they need to be shown an outline ? This is the dumbest update in the history of bad updates.

I constantly have issues trying to save pictures to my iPhone with the Google Photos app. It constantly gives me an error message no matter if it’s updated, forced restart, strong WiFi. Also a lot of the time saving to files doesn’t work either
Please listen to feedback - Visual Accessibility
Please provide an option for a symmetrical, square photo layout on the main photos gallery. It used to be like that, however now google enlarges what the AI thinks is a good photo, however in terms of viewing and accessibility it severely distorts the layout from an otherwise grid layout. Please consider accessibility option in these designs to ensure a smooth viewing experience

Freezes whenever you search for a picture.
Bring Back Old Search
The google photo search used to be amazing, I could find anything I needed just by searching a few keywords. Now it's completely broken, it can't find anything and only shows the first couple results.
Horrible web design
Downloading the app to look at a few videos as the website is horrible. No way am I keeping this app once done. Cannot imagine how horrible it will be in the long run.
Crashing and closing
This app never closes and crashes! Never ever! What’s wrong with Google Photos?! Please fix this. PLEASE!
No longer a great product
I have been using Google Photos since it has existed and in the beginning, I loved it you were always able to simply without any additional nuisance. Now I hate this product. They want to force me to use AI. They want to force me to allow access to my photos so that they can steal the likeness of anybody in those photos as I am sure this is something hidden in their new terms in agreements. I will no longer be backing up my pictures and eventually I will place all of those photos on a flash drive. These companies suck nowadays and I recommend we stop using them. I would not recommend this product to anyone anymore.
Widget on this day shortcut broke
iOS widget with on this day feature has been broken for about a week now. As this was my most used feature I’ll stop using the widget and therefor the app
Requires access to all photos
Doesn’t work if only giving access to some photos, making it useless unless I want to share all of my pics to google
Deleted my photos
Wouldn’t let me do anything with my google account so I tried to free up space and it deleted a year’s worth of photos and memories from my phone. You need to jump through so many hoops and loopholes to free up space without paying for extra storage or deleting your memories.
Can’t click links
When you use Google lens to search for a product in an image.. usually you can click on the links that they give you. You can no longer click the links so it just shows all the results, but you can’t do anything with it. I don’t know if this is a glitch or if this is their new process, but there’s no point in this app without that.
Glitching
Every time I open the app it just goes to a black screen for a couple minutes before force closing. App is fully updated and even reset phone, always something
Incredibly difficult to remove photos on just google and not icloud
Even after disconnecting google from icloud it will still try to delete photos from my icloud. The process of removing photos is very difficult.

The Search bar and settings for it are unusable on small phones. The new Gemini onboarding screen is not optimized for the iPhone SE (3rd Gen) screen size. The "Opt-in/Opt-out" buttons (or whatever they say-I can’t even read them) are cut off, making them unclickable. So there’s no way for me to get past this screen and use any form of searching my photos… either Gemini or regular search. The buttons to accept or decline Gemini are frozen/don’t scroll or move when trying to scroll up (or attempt workaround via landscape mode). The Search feature is therefore completely inaccessible via Google Photos app on small, still supported iPhones (with a physical home button). This is frustrating for paying subscribers like me. Please fix the UI scaling for smaller, non-edge-to-edge displays.
It’s alright BUT…
I was on phone and iPad. I was in privacy, preferences, Google Photos settings and STILL. Could not find face groups. I followed instructions but nothing worked.

Constant useless notifications devalue this app
Do you want to be notified any time they want you to but something or write a review? The app asked for this review, so I’ll tell you that I loathe useless notifications devalue and am going to move away from using it.
