Getting worse
This app is getting worse each update. I can no longer use the live conversation feature as it wants to stop before the person is done speaking. Also getting more words incorrect now. I used to depend on this app a lot, but now it’s time to find something more reliable
Terrible update
I frequent a Latin country and this app was my go to. The last two weeks, the interface changed and it does not work properly. It is the most frustrating thing ever now that I’ve come to depend on it.
Whatever this change is or was, is a terrible idea. For now I give it zero stars and 10 HATES!

Incorrect translations
I find most of the translations, especially for Japanese, are plain wrong! A simple google search offers correct translations.
Listening issues
They need to improve the app to not stop the listening option until the person is finished speaking. For both regular translating and the live conversation editor, it would stop randomly and translate when the person wasn’t even finished with what they’re saying. I feel like it should not pause and translate until the person finishes speaking. It also provides completely incorrect translations in the conversation feature for Korean conversations.

The buttons move around all the time. It's different every time I use the app. Doesn't make any sense.
Thank God the update came AFTER our trip to Japan!
It was great and reliable before the update, but it is barely functional now. Something broke. It’s like it just freezes anytime you want it to do anything.

It’s so bad it keeps cutting off mid sentence whenever someone is talking so annoying please fix this google. How yall a billion dollar company but have stupid bugs like this, crazy. 🤦🤦

The most moronic and sluggish translator imaginable. It can't translate anything properly, constantly mixes up words, and completely fails to recognize dictation.
Ridiculous
This simply has to be the single worst translation app that exists. Everything you have to do is manual. It doesn’t detect languages correctly. When you do translate into another language, it then changes your keyboard to that language so then when you go back for another translation, it screws up the language that you’re inputting.. In today’s world of AI this app borders on complete idiocy. This app also doesn’t understand formal and informal uses of the term you and there is no way to easily toggle between the two. I would rather use ChatGPT than this ridiculous app.

Used to be helpful, not anymore. Old way to simply aim camera and instantly translates was pretty good. Now it requires a photo. And even this is clunky. Complete junk. I’ll never use again

Plain wrong translations. Especially since they seemingly implemented ai into it, became recognisably more inaccurate, making me switch & write this review, since accurate translations & the ability to recognise ALL letters of the Russian alphabet are important to me as someone who uses translators on a day to day basis. Very disappointed

“New translation” gets in the way of copy and other options behind it which is all the way at the bottom of the page. It happens when a tranlation input text is edited and traslated again.

Inconsistent translations
I’m in Mexico with my partner and she’s using a different translation app. When I use Google trans I’m finding that I’m getting different results from what she is. So for I’m trusting her app more and Google for less. Unfortunate.

It can use to have conversations with people speaks different language easily, but now you cannot without switching.
Text Only Live Translation doesn’t work anymore
The Live Translation Text Only option is just dead. It will work once after installing the app, but the 2nd or 3rd time it just fails to produce any text. The hack to get it to work is to uninstall or delete the app and reinstall. I’ve tried toggling various options (logged in or not, downloaded language or not), it doesn’t matter. It used to work fine a week or so ago, not now.
Edit to add: The “text only” option now plays audio translations. They ruined this app. Hopefully they fix it.

GT has been my go-to for auto translating as I read text in Japanese for some time. But recently, the camera is freezing constantly and forcing you to take a picture. The auto-translate as I go is essential, and this update has made reading in real time next to impossible. Too bad, since the translations are decent.

Conversation needs more work
I opened the app and clicked on “Conversation” but it was a bust. First, it took way too long to translate, and with this TikTok generation, things have to be fast, pretty much simultaneous. Second, it’s totally useless when there’s an actual conversation going on with multiple people.

The conversation feature is horrible. It use to work pretty good then a couple months ago they changed the look and something else. I use to use that feature all the time. Now I don’t it’s too much hassle. I’m forced to push the button to English or Spanish every time we talk. Sucks. It was working good now it rarely works.
Improvements I would recommend
1. It should be simple to reverse the languages being translated. It is not.
2. The should be a setting foe speed of the spoken translatio. Not only is there not; the spoken language is unnaturally fast! It defeats the point.

Вы специально сделали кнопку +добавить перевод именно в том месте, где кнопка скопировать? Чтобы у меня не было возможности скопировать перевод. У вас редкая и извращенная форма издевательства. Сделайте пожалуйста эту кнопку ещё больше, чтобы и сам текст закрывался, а то весь смысл излевательства немного падает. Но идея закрывать элементы отличная, не останавливайтесь.
