I downloaded the app to leave an overall review of Grammarly.
1. It’s 2026, I should be able to use Grammarly on my iPad through Chrome. I do not want a keyboard that you allow a 3rd Party to request access to all of my personal information.
2. $144-or lower if you have a student email address-a year is way too much for this program. That is more expensive than all the AI bots you source your AI from.
3. AI sucks in general. Your AI “detector” is a joke. Just like all AI detectors are. AI “detectors” will never ring true, because one you feed writing into them, then you have effectively trained the AI.
4. The spellchecker and grammar checker are consistently wrong.
5. Does not take context into consideration when offering “suggestions.” It will pull a random sentence, tell me the wording is incorrect, when it is not.
6. AI is soulless. It makes your writing look soulless. Like a robot, because a robot is soulless.
7. I am all for suggestions on how to make a sentence sound better, however, Grammarly’s rewrite “suggestions” suck every ounce of humanity out of the writing, and turns it into trash. Which also goes back to point #5 and the programs lack of contextual awareness.

I deleted the app and come to find out a couple of weeks later I get charged 30$.I canceled immediately and asked for a refund and then they said no because it’s not required by the law.now I don’t just have 30) lying around and this company is to big to be stingy about 30$
Doubled in price
I enjoy a subscription-based version and the availability of the Grammarly keyboard. I’m working across multiple iOS devices and PC’s. But the subscription price doubled when it renewed. It is not worth $144.00/yr
Is a hindrance nowadays
I used to really like this add-on, but over the past year, it has become more of a problem than a helpful tool. It constantly misspells words that it tells me to correct and then tells me to fix them. Only reason I still use it is for the synonyms function.
Beware of auto renew
You can’t even change the card once the payment goes through. Their website says they only do refunds as required by law.

Customer service is really hard to get in contact with. The app itself is okay. Definitely recommend regular chat GPT over it.

Generative AI led me to delete my notes from Upword for ChatGPT because of its detailed, improved, and rephrased tone, which has many drawbacks. I used these tones, and they messed up my notes, which didn’t make sense due to Grammarly’s generative AI, especially the detailed, improved, and rephrased tone that ruined my notes from Upword. My notes were from Upword, and once I deleted them, I couldn’t get them back. Basically, Grammarly’s generative AI, with its detailed tone, disrupted my notes, which I wish I had never discovered Grammarly’s generative AI, including its detailed, improved, and rephrased features, because I would never have edited and deleted my notes on Upword, as I lost them, which would have caused me to forget, have difficulty making decisions, lose track of things, and struggle to recall them. Now I have to start over by rewriting them after deleting them, which makes it hard to remember what to write and how to decide what to write. Unfortunately, I can’t change the past when I should have preserved them instead of editing and deleting my notes. This is a serious problem I’m experiencing right now. Grammarly needs constant improvements and major upgrades, which require a version history for before-and-after comparisons so that I can recover my notes. Moreover, I get annoyed with Grammarly’s suggestions, especially the corrections, when analyzing texts, as they often propose changes that don’t make sense (e.g., rewrites like “Because of my obsession with animals” to “Because I’m obsessed with animals,” etc.). I miss my notes on Upword, which feels like I’m giving up if I can’t remember or have a hard time making up my mind, like I’m running out of options. I wish Upword and Grammarly would have versions of before-and-after if they work to improve and update both Grammarly and Upword. I recreated my categories. Still, however, Upword has some serious problems, including trade-offs, and it hasn’t been updated or improved on my iPhone (iOS) from the App Store since 2018. One of the worst problems with Upword is the scrolling issue: I can’t scroll down while typing, and it kicks me out when I try to sign up for Upword with Dropbox. I wish Upnote had a trash can and version history for notes that come before and after, so I can recover them, since I already deleted them due to Grammarly’s Generative AI-suggested edits.

Very a very simple misspelling fails to be corrected, even for very simple, common words, like you, mine, etc..

The fact that you cannot edit things on your phone if it was started on your desktop is a joke in 2026, especially considering how much the charge for this app.

If you use the app on your iOS to type a document as your company requests, sometimes Grammarly will just lose what was saved. Why? No idea. Can you manually save your work? No. So you ask for support, they try to blame YOU! You want me to replicate the problem, how can I IF ITS GONE! Customer service is terrible and cares nothing about its customers. If I was not required to use it for my job, I’d not. I pay far too much to get an awful product that the company’s technology and support can’t even handle. But I bet I’ll be gaslit that it was somehow my doing or I shouldn’t type directly into the iOS app. But hey, why pay for something I can’t use? I probably won’t get a refund either so there goes hours of work gone that I’ll never get back. DO NOT USE
Don't like the mic button switch
I don't like the new update with the mic button replacing the Grammarly button. It messes up my typing.

Messenger thinks words are there….
Messenger text entry window has Grammarly thinking words are still there after being sent already. This makes Grammarly offer changes to stuff that is not there. To fix it I have to backspace through nothing to get the correction counter to rest.

I k ow I paid for a subscription and it showed that I had 2. Anyways the whole point I am trying to make is that it would not let me do some of the stuff because it told me I needed to up grade. How I would really like this to be resolved is that I get a credit or I’ll just DELETE
Unhappy Customer!
I haven't been able to use this app fully for a few months now. I deleted it and then reinstalled it. It only allows me to be of very limited use and then it states to upgrade which I have tried several times but I am a premium member. It won’t let me use my premium membership so paying without access and I am not due to pay my yearly fee until July 16th. I didn't hear back from Grammarly through support and chat. I have been a member for many years with zero issues up to recently!
Never works on my iPhone or MacBook.
I appreciate you all for helping the masses conquer college. I do not enjoy not being able to adjust my tone for a whole assignment. I also don't like that I can try to adjust per paragraph, highlight, and because it can't fix it, it just deletes it. On my MacBook, when I first log in to Word, it works, after one suggestion, then it's gone completely. I've tried the shortcuts unsuccessfully several times. I use DeepSeek and Apple AI for everything now.
