Respect user choice
Every time I open the app, it nags me about turning on notifications in system settings. Respect my choice to not have notifications turned on, please. (Latest update may have reverted this change?)

Pop up every time I open it
Today I started receiving a pop up literally every time I open the app to turn on notifications. They’re off on purpose as I don’t want to receive them. One star until this pop up stops.
Held hostage
If you disable notifications, everytime you open the app there will be a pop up that tells you to goto settings and enable them. There is no way to turn off these pop ups. Unacceptable. Every update the app takes a step backward in progress. At least the random crashes are gone

Can’t post gifs or links
The last GroupMe update took away the ability to post gifs and links into chat. It was working fine until recently
Calendar is under profile???
Calendar is a useful and an important feature, it should be easily accessible. To get to calendar, you first have to leave chat, then click on profile, then clicked calendar. This design, completely misses simplicity and intuition
User Experience has Declined Greatly
First off, I really love GroupMe! I have been using it for 10 years. My frustration lies in a few changes made very recently.
First, the bubbles for messages really doesn’t look or feel good. Every person in all of my chats has either updated the app and hated the look or has refused to update the app to avoid changing the user experience.
Second, the options for sending attachments have changed in a negative way. The old menus, while the weren’t necessarily visually stunning, allowed for ease to navigate through all the options. Gifs have now gone to a separate random menu that is neither visually pleasing, nor intuitive to use based on how the app treats posting a gif. Gifs are not like emojis that can just be placed in a field of text. Gifs have to be posted like an attachment still. It should have been left in the attachments pop up bubble. Another issue with removing gifs from the attachment bubble is now there is no option to search for normal pictures or YouTube videos to post directly from the app. I used this feature very often, it allowed me to look for an image in one spot and compare it to gifs without ever saving the media to my phone. I didn’t have to leave the app to look for something on safari. That takes more time to leave the app, search for something, find what I’m looking for, and return to the chat, and It takes up more memory on my phone since I have to save it directly. Same goes for YouTube videos in terms of having to leave the app to find the video.
It has severely diminished my experience and a lot of other members’ experiences from my groups. Please return these features.

Never works right
Stupid app that I’m forced to use for school. I missed messages because notifications wouldn’t work video chat and calls don’t work once I’m done with school I’m done with this stupid app
Can’t see who liked stuff
Without liking it yourself. WhatsApp is easier.
Unusable
The app signed me out, and tells me my user name or password are invalid (nothing changed). When I try to reset the password, it never sends the email. I contacted customer service and never heard back. The only reason I downloaded the app was for my child’s school trip, and now I won’t get to communicate with the group. Thanks for absolutely nothing.

This app is the worst! If you ever make an account from a long time ago, and go to use it again, good luck trying to reset your password.
Plus, there is no way to get ahold of them unless you wait forever for one of their bots to help you with your account. Definitely won’t be using this app anymore.

Why did we change how to mark all as read again, I don’t want to individually click anything to mark as read

The latest update took away the ability to make all the chats read at once. Why would you do that?
Not good enough
This app is so glitchy and unreliable. I never get notifications even though they are on. You can't type anything without it lagging. The only benefit of the app is that you can make a 80 person groupchat but also what's the point if I can't even get the notification.
Missing features make app unusable
I have had my account blown out twice now, on account of not getting #stay/#exit messages, and now that I have created a new account on the web using Sign in with Google, I can’t use the app because that option isn’t available-it’s email address or Sign in with Apple, and using my email address with the password doesn’t work.

Fix the sign in
So, I only started using this app for a college class and just made an account. I took a screenshot of my password and even made a passkey. Well, the app randomly decided to sign me out today, and when I go to put in my password, it claims it’s incorrect when I know for a fact it’s not. When I try to get it to send me an email link to reset it, it won’t send it. I feel like with an app with such a high ratings, you would be warned about these errors and issues.

Signup not working
I’ve tired creating an via phone,email,Microsoft account and Apple id no luck. I get an error device_id failed been over a week they keep pushing updates but does fix this issue.

Messed up
I need to change my email on my current account but it won’t work. I go to my other account to try to delete it and use that email. It needs a pin. I receive ZERO pin. I have read recent reviews, and NO ONE CAN GET A PIN. Fix this problem.
Ridiculous
I have been trying ALL morning to set up my account. The ask for a phone number to send a pin to, and it won’t send. I keep trying to wait for a service chat and I kept getting kicked out. When I finally get one after an hour, they send a link that still asks me for my phone number and still won’t send a pin. And when I try to go back to the chat, I’m kicked out! This is absolutely ridiculous and I wouldn’t use this thing if I didn’t have to.
Customer service is trash
There is only the option of a chat so I’ve done that. When I submitted my request 50 minutes ago, there were 68 people in front of me. Currently I’m down to only 1 person in front of me, 20 minutes later I’m still waiting. This is intentional. They purposefully do not want you to be able to contact them.
Worst thing that’s happened to me this year
This app is genuinely so awful I wish that my job didn’t require us to use it but I’m this close to throwing my phone at a wall and then shooting a gun at the smithereens and then blowing the wall and the gun up with a bomb. I almost never get mad ever but this app has awoken something in me like never before. I tried to make an account and everything is fine until I have to get a pin they text me to verify my phone number and it would be fine but they never sent me the pin and when you try and resend IT DOESN’T WORK. It says that it will send it or that my internet isn’t approved by the app… girl what does that even mean also I literally have WiFi and good service so what are you talking about. So I don’t really know about anything else about this app because I can’t even make my account but genuinely is so awful I can even… fix this now…

Unable to complete sign-up
Unfortunately after several days of trying, the app will not send the verification code required for me to complete the account setup. There is no other verification code option other than via text, my SMS messages are set to send/receive, the app is updated. There’s no reasonable explanation for this and it’s caused major issues in communication with extracurricular groups that depend on the app.

GroupMe is so bad, I’m using a messenger pigeon instead.
The app just doesn’t send me notifications of messages I’ve received. I’ve redownloaded the app, signed out and back in but the condition remains. When taking an image through the app to add to a chat, it defaults to the front facing camera? I don’t know why this would be default, I’ve never seen an application do this. Use WhatsApp or literally anything else.
Doesn’t like my phone number
Tried for several days to create an account every time I put my phone number in it tells me the number isn’t active. I’ve emailed support and their suggestion is the system doesn’t like certain numbers we are working on it try again later. We are supposed to be using this for our group chat but I think we should just go back to a text group chat because it works.
