USELESS app
This is the most useless app I’ve ever had the displeasure of using. I don’t know anyone who’s ever gotten a job from Handshake; using LinkedIn or even just periodically checking your target companies’ Careers webpages will be a more effective way to discover and apply for opportunities. Anything that can be found on Handshake can be found in either of those places presented in a much nicer format, and surrounded by much fewer scam job postings. Additionally, the feed “feature” that Handshake added in an attempt to make their app scroll-worthy only feels depressing because EVERY SINGLE POST is just other unemployed people asking “so how do I get a job? Do you have a job for me? Does anyone have any tips?” Employers don’t post on Handshake because who on Earth cares about posting on Handshake. They have better things to do. All of the posts are from the other young grads you’re competing with, which really just helps you grasp how bleak the job market is. And it doesn’t even show you posts from people relevant to you; I’ve NEVER seen a Handshake post from someone even in my state, much less at my specific university. It’s all a bunch of randos from Florida and Texas, people who I’m sure are great but are very distant from where I am. If you want the job search to feel statistically hopeless and logistically convoluted, use Handshake. If you want a good experience, use literally any other app.

Company just wants to exploit you
This company is literally the bad guy from the grapes of wrath. They advertise plenty of AI training work and high wages, then release maybe 100 tasks despite onboarding 1000 people. Kinda defeats the purpose of $50/hr if you can work max a half hour

Scam
Every single data entry position is a scam. You do the assessment and all of a sudden you are hired and they want to send you a check for office supplies like a laptop.

Not user friendly at all
Typically when you filter for a specific location, you expect to get only see results within that specific location. However, i continue to get on site job listings for towns that are 40+ miles from where I’m trying to look. And in general the filters suck.
SCAM AFTER SCAM
It’s shocking to think universities are using this. In the matter of a week applying I’ve received multiple “offers” & “forms to learn more about me” to fill out. I will be deleting this app and my account. Beware!

Another social media app
I put in a few resumes and applications and never get a response back and I put quite a bit in between this and LinkedIn. It’s like another social media app. Then when you do the AI work where you get paid 14 an hour 20 an hour whatever they offer an hour to do remote once you do it you don’t get paid for none of it so if you sat there for two hours doing it and it just says OK you’ve completed the task. You don’t get paid. I don’t care if you get denied or approved of what you put you should still be getting paid for those hours you put in for there to do the remote whatever.

I been applying to jobs relative to my college degree for 2 years now, since i graduated college, and havent had any progress with landing a career in my field of study. I apply to jobs that i have all the qualifications for and experience and either i get declined or you just never hear back about the role after applying. a waste of time and these jobs posted on handshake seems they’re not real

Getting blasted emails and messages from recruiters not even looking at your location and telling you about a role on the other side of the country, then having the nerve to message you again about the role seriously ? Trash

This has been by FAR the worst job finding app I’ve ever used. It also is hard to delete. I’ve been trying to for several days and they don’t respond. You have to request to delete it! Also, I have unsubscribed at least 20 times from the emails and yet they continue to come in. The jobs are no where near where I live and when I search for jobs related to my degree it shows me completely irrelevant positions. I keep getting emails for random things like boarder patrol on the other end of the USA and Waffle House. Just don’t!
Unusable, can’t even log in
This app doesn’t allow me to log in through Google through which I set it up, or even with email code. Errors pop up on every button press. If I manage to get into my account: more errors on every screen. Logging out and reinstalling did not help. Don’t waste your time here.

Every single job I have applied for has been a scam. I am so depleted and upset and now I’m getting spam messages all the time. NOT OK!!!
Ineffective and Invasive
Not very helpful for networking or job hunting. Now some applications want your ID before employers will even review your resume. Stick with Indeed or LinkedIn.

A bunch of handshakes own jobs posted. Took the test also and been waiting for lead approval still. Lots of applying, zero communication.

Can’t change my documents
I’ve been having errors with my documents uploading on my job applications. I can’t seem to find a way to update them because I no longer see the “my documents” tab on the app. I can’t apply properly or complete any applications because of that. I wish they’d never have changed it because it’s just making things more complicated and confusing for me. If someone could help me find out what I’m missing or what the issue may be please get back to me soon. Thanks!
Why can’t employers use this app?
What’s the reason for excluding employers from using an app that is meant to connect applicants and employers?
Terrible UI for a $3.5bn company
This company raised over $3.5 billion USD throughout their funding series and still cannot provide a working UI for employers. You MUST use web browser, no app (???) for employers, and even then the UI is impossible to navigate on anything but a pc. You have all this capital and yet your infrastructure is impossible to use, and yet I MUST use your platform for hiring through universities. Do something with the money you’re given.
Problem in sign up
I was excited to use be in this platform but when it came to the type of major I did, there wasn’t a lot of options and my major is not listed. So I couldn’t further my sign up. Real bummer
Won’t Save Edits
Why won’t this thing save my updated profile? I’ve attempted five times now to edit and update my profile and nothing has saved. Very frustrated Fix it now I need a job dude

I want to love this app. I keep getting job offers that don’t apply to me despite changing the types of jobs in the “looking for” section and this has been a constant problem since joining this app a few years ago.
I don’t understand why the dots to indicate a user has an unread notification had changed color from blue to gray. It was perfectly fine the way it was and with the new gray color, it makes things difficult to tell whether I have an unread notification or not because the color is so faded it almost blends in to the dark theme background I have on. I suggest going back to the blue color handshake once had because it was easier to tell read from unread notifications.
The back arrow on the top left side of every video is placed too far up in the corner of the videos.
The one unread message I have in the messages section of the app still remains with and I remember contacting customer support about this issue and was told that every user was having that issue but mine is still there many weeks later.
Hopefully these issues would be fixed pretty soon.

App Sucks !!!!! Use website
Spent turning 30mins trying to make a account but just going around in circles . Than made a account on website to fix the problem but no … even having a account already they don’t give you the option to sign in when you first open the app .
Unable to log in
So, I’ve tried maybe six times now to log in through school and then another three by personal email and neither page seems to work. I’ve tried closing and reopening the page to no luck as well.

Every post is someone looking and not having found a job, this feels more like a data scam than job assistance.

I have been using this app for three years, which is a true testament to its efficacy. Never have I ever found an app developer that takes away features rather than add them; The options to tick away irrelevant jobs or report fake and incorrect job listings were quietly removed, so there is no protection from imposters and scams.
Combined with a direct messaging system that allows “recruiters” to reach out to students with “opportunities” that will not respond back and will run off your personal information, Handshake is a complete scam of a platform.

Most jobs on here require a 2nd step of applying on the company website. Making the first application from the app useless and a waste of time

No More Employer Posts
One of the main reason to use the app is to find recruiters to connect with through their posts. Now the "Employers" tab only shows posts by Hanshake in the feed. The app is now useless
Irrelevant Recruiting Spam
I’ve been using this platform for a little over two years and have not been successful in obtaining an internship/post graduate employment. I keep getting spam messages from recruiters that have irrelevant employment from my major or in a different state. It’s very frustrating. Then when I question if they have other opportunities that may be a better fit or recommendations after specifying my location I get ghosted. I know the job market is terrible right now but I’d prefer to not receive any messages at all than getting my hopes up getting a message for a job opportunity completely irrelevant to me or from recruiters that will ghost me.
Needs more jobs and fewer vibes
This is a social media app with job listings as an afterthought. I only joined Handshake because otherwise I couldn’t interact with job listings through my school. The “feed” pops up first to encourage mindless scrolling. Job listings are under a different tab. The same job listings have been on my list for months. Most listings are not related to my area of study at all, but that could be attributed to the stale job market. So far Handshake has extracted a large amount of personal information from me and provided nothing in return.
Doesn’t work
Doesn’t let me register for event even though I’m qualified. The button just simply doesn’t work.
Signing in and connecting to my school event
I was sent an invite through email to join a school event and every time I do it takes me into handshake but will not show the event. It makes me sign in twice every time by entering my email, then entering my school, then entering my school email and password, and then it makes me use Microsoft authentication. Worst app I’ve had to navigate. After searching for the event and finding it I went to register and it tells me to open the app but I have it open on the app. It then takes me to my Apple Store to download handshake but I have already downloaded the app and the process repeats itself.
Looks to be majority scams
This platform looks to cater to those in college, and with that there are many, MANY scam applications. Recommend you research the company, due your research , double check that the company is hiring that position, and make sure the ‘recruiter’ reaching out to you works for where they say they do. This looks to be the latest scammer’s paradise as the app has a limited reporting system, and twice now I’ve hit dead ends trying to report someone that just disappears, along with the conversation proving they are trying to get sensitive information.
Poor graphics
The text is hard to read. Many places the text is displayed over other text, greyed out, poor font selection, or just unreadable. This makes the app effectively unusable.
Irrelevant
I receive messages about jobs that don’t line up with my major and jobs that are minimum wage jobs that should be tailored to high school kids/freshmen, not someone about to finish their degree.
