Please fix the app
For the large sticker price of the hatch alarm clock, one would expect the app to have a seamless user experience. This could not be further from the case.
The app frequently does not work. It is hard to arrange routines. And finding new sounds is impossible.
Hatch PLEASE invest in a better app. I am cancelling my paid membership because I avoid using the app it’s that bad. No point in having a membership when the app does not work most of the time.

Worst customer experience of my life
After trying and failing to connect my two brand new baby hatch for TWO hours, and trying desperately to workshop with the bot and texting support, I am so annoyed and still the two baby hatch won’t connect. It’s a no for me, dawg. Returning asap.
RIP OFF
First spend a ridiculous amount of money on the stupid clock, then you have to pay a monthly fee to get access to all alarms - to find out you don’t actually get access to all the sounds, you can only use them in their preset categories which makes NO sense. Trash! Save your money!
BACK TO ADD MORE! Haven’t woken up to my alarm at all this week because some days it chooses not to go off OR it doesn’t even play what I set up AND I am paying for the stupid membership right now and should be getting better service.

Waste of money
Every time the app updates the restore 3 has to be factory reset to reconnect to the app.
Updates are terrible for the app performance.
Whenever an update comes along the app no longer works for about 4-5 hours and after it starts working again, it is still glitchy and slow. Setting alarms is a nightmare. I get so much anxiety before bed using the app to set an alarm because I’m not sure if it worked half the time. I like the product. The app is terrible.

The alarm clock is great; however, the app is very glitchy and malfunctions frequently, making it challenging to do simple things like setting an alarm, turning off an alarm, updating WiFi settings, connecting to the device, setting routines, etc.
Junk
App appears not to have been fully tested: press one thing and something different happens, different screens resemble each other, and new sounds can only be unlocked by paying for them. The clock is way too bright, even at the lowest setting - we have to cover it with two pieces of masking tape to keep it from lighting up the whole room. We regret this purchase and will probably go back to the older Hatch.

This app sucks! I love my Hatch but the app is so glitchy! I try to edit the alarm and then nothing happens. I try to edit it again and then it disappears. One would think with the amount of money paid per each device and subscription that Hatch could find better app developers. Come on Hatch!! Do better!!!!
Restart every time
Everyone I need to change something, I have to restart the app. I can’t just pick a color or sound or volume and then in a minute of 10 change my mind and change it. I have to close the app and reload if. So stupid!

Waste of time
This is the 3rd Hatch clock that has broken after 15 months (conveniently out of their warranty period). There’s nothing more annoying than being woken up at 2 AM with the brightness on full from your clock. Good luck trying to contact the warranty support team. Save your money.
Great idea, terrible execution
These products just randomly cease having the ability to make noise, which is really bad for a noise machine. It’s not the device. It’s the app. Don’t buy their products. The app developers pretend they are concerned when they respond to bad reviews but they know their app is terrible. Why would you not be able to control a d device sitting directly next to you by using controls on said device? It’s the most asinine thing on the planet to have to pull out your phone to control something an inch away from you only to see when you pull your phone out that the app doesn’t work at the moment. Absolutely infuriating.
Very buggy
I’d encourage you to look at competitors with better apps. We’ve used Hatch for years and I’ve encountered SO MANY BUGS over that time. The app is extremely janky and some of the bugs are maddening (the most recent one caused me to write this review).
Hatch is great app is terrible
I love the hatch itself for my baby’s nursery. But the “advice” the app gives for sleep is terrible. It says to ditch pacifiers, rocking to sleep, and feeding to sleep cold turkey. Then it says to lay down fully awake. This is all insane. Babies need connection not distance! This is heartbreaking
Not enough free options
I really did enjoy the app and it was helpful with falling asleep. There are not enough free options in the library so I go to sleep listening to the same thing over and over. After a year or so it’s not helpful. Works great as an alarm clock

Not only do I HAVE to use this app for my $170 clock, but I also HAVE to give Hatch my credit card info because I can’t opt out of their subscription service (for a clock!?!) during setup. This is one of the most unintuitive and ridiculous purchases I’ve ever had the shame of making. Avoid this brand, go for a $30 amazon clock instead.

greedy company “providing” a “premium” option. hatch+ is a subscription to fully use a product i already own. there is no added functionality in the premium plan, there is only restricted functionality in the standard one. a customer buying your product once is good, but a customer paying once a month for as long as they want to use it it much better. cutting functionality and charging for users to regain it is the epitome of greed.

Glitches galore and money down the drain
I have been trying to cancel my membership for 2 months. They FORCE you to sign up and then make it literally impossible to cancel. The reset password button doesn’t work so you can’t login to your account and the ai chat it doesn’t help you recover it or address core issues. At this point they’ve scammed me for 2 months worth of membership payments. Never buying hatch again

They apparently rolled out a new version of the app to “some customers” but haven’t updated ANYTHING online to tell you how to actually use the app. I spent over 2 hours tonight just trying to figure out how to set it up with the help of a customer service rep. Hatch put out a YouTube video 9 hours ago with instructions on how to create and manage routines, but sorry that’s for the old version so it doesn’t work on the new version. Don’t bother asking the chatbot on their website for help, it only knows the old version. Even the customer service rep didn’t really know how to use the new version yet. It’s not user friendly or intuitive in any way. Also the old version let you create 3 unwind routines, apparently now it’s only 2 (or so the cs rep tells me). So not only have they made it much more confusing and frustrating to navigate, they’re taking features away. Save your money and your sanity, skip having to deal with this app and just get a different alarm clock
App is stuck at Restore 2 interface even though I paid for a restore 3.
I have a Restore 3 and pay for the Hatch + subscription, but the app keeps reverting back to a restore 2 interface with only one unwind + sleep routine. A Restore 3 with Hatch+ should allow for 3 unwind routines. I have updated my app and updated my firmware at least ten times only for the update to appear occasionally, but it never sticks. The next time I open the app, it reverts back to the one unwind routine interface.

Can’t reset password
I don’t understand why this app has no email to contact them. I can’t remember my password for the life of me so I went to reset it but to reset it you need to know your old password. How does that make any sense?
Poor UX, glitchy.
It’s hard to be a hardware and a software company, but the UX in this app is really poor. I work in tech but find it strange to navigate.

Waste Of Money
If this product hadn’t been a gift I would be livid. It is the glitchiest thing in our entire house (which was built in the 1940’s so that’s saying something). The subscription service (which I’ve never tried) is a blatant money grab. You’ve already purchased the hardware, but then most of the sounds and light options are hidden behind a pay wall?? A Bluetooth speaker has more functionality. Maybe if you pay it the thing actually works, but as it is SEVERAL of the sounds refuse to function on our machine without an act of God. If we try to play white noise? The thing loses its mind- have never successfully gotten it to run and it will crash the other schedules every time we try. If we try to play flute for a couple minutes for a wake up alarm it plays for exactly 3 seconds and then stops. I’ve tried for ten months to make this thing work properly, and it’s just a piece of junk. Not sure where all the great reviews are coming from- maybe ours is just defective, but either way it’s the most useless product our baby owns.

A nightmare.
Very disappointed in the app. It is so incredibly frustrating. As someone who does shift work, my alarms change often, and setting an alarm on the app takes a lot of patience and effort. It takes nearly 30 tries, if I am even able, to even save a new alarm or turn off an alarm. It’s absolutely awful. I don’t know why I pay for the device only to have the app crash every single time I open it. If they changed the disaster of an app this would be 5 stars. Very annoying. And very, very upsetting. Technology is far too advanced for this app to be so horrendous.
Terrible app and customer service
I’d give less than a star if possible. The app is required for the set up of the hatch alarm clock- in order to use the alarm clock it forces you to sign up for a subscription ( via a webpage outside of the mobile application) then make it impossible for you to login and cancel the subscription. Customer service is unresponsive and tells you to retry the same process over and over although you cannot change the password without knowing the old one. They then asked me to record a screen share, upload to the cloud and share a link- all to change a password. Which is still left unsolved. I’ll be returning the device and requesting a data deletion which so far they are unable to solve as I cannot login to my app ( nor reset the pw) and apparently that is the only way to address the request. This app should be removed from the store and basic functionality should be in place prior to being reinstalled. Also, when some purchases hardware, if a subscription is required for basic set up this should be very clearly outlined. The most unprofessional and under developed experience in tech in over 10 years.
Hardest to set up!
The set up process has been super hard for me. I have three hatches and all 3 have been horrible to set up. I recently just got my son the hatch baby and I have been spending two hours trying to set up. Very frustrating. Still haven’t gotten it to work.
Practically Spyware
The amount of data collection occurring is unbelievable. I’m well aware of the privacy policy, but that doesn’t change how obscene the unskippable survey is. Being forced to sign up for a free trial before the app is usable is incredibly anti-consumer, and clearly just being done to harvest payment address information.
Sudden problems
I have loved my hatch for so long, but suddenly the schedule function is not working properly. It’s waking my kids up early and that’s so stressful for everyone involved.
Subscription Trap
The product was working alright but when my wife was out of town and I had to switch the alarm clock to be connected to my phone, the app wouldn’t let me access anything without signing up for the subscription. The screen says no subscription is needed, but there is no way around it. Additionally, they have limited tech support hours so you can’t solve problems at the times of day that you would, say, use a damn alarm clock.

Nothing worse than going to set your alarm before bed on an app that you pay for and having it crash continuously. This has already happened multiple times in the 6 months since I got it. So, back to using my iPhone alarm. For the amount that is charged for the device and app I expect a lot more. I will be getting rid of my hatch and advise anyone considering it to think twice.

Loved it at first
Been using my restore 2 for a few years now and loved it. Recently I have had a ton of issues connecting it to my WiFi and it becoming disconnected with my phone. I rely on it as my alarm and if it disconnects in the middle of the night, the alarm does not go off in the morning. When I try reconnecting it says it’s downloading a bug fix and then completely shuts down and is unable to be connected again. The number of hours I have spent trying to fix this is way too many for an alarm clock when my phone can do just as much.

Shameful Greedy Scam
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. The pay to play model is so beyond ingrained in this dirty greedy company it’s sickening. The entire alarm is useless unless you pay for their stupid app. The simplest of features are locked behind the pay wall it’s disgusting. Everyone who works for this company ought to be ashamed of themselves.

This product has had connection issues and now the base station just completely shut off. If there was something comparable to use i’d switch but there isn’t so i guess we all have to deal.

I LOVE the hatch. I HATE the app
I’m so frustrated with the app 9/10 times. I love the hatch. It’s been an absolute life saver and I buy it for every friend having a baby. My daughter is 3.5 years old and we still use it for naps and bedtime. But the app needs some serious updates!! The “next” and “back” button and greyed out so I only knew they existed by reaching out to customer service long ago. They advised removing and reinstalling the app. Did that… no help. Then I have been paying for the monthly subscription to get the bedtime story songs. You can add them to a playlist but you can’t make it play a specific song unless you “back/next” to find the specific song you want. And while that doesn’t sound like the worst thing, if you have a picky toddler like me, it is. It has almost made me consider cancelling the monthly subscription and finding something else because my toddler only wants these two specific stories. And then she wakes up many times asking for it to go back to bed. So I spend several minutes hitting “back/next” until I can get to it. And the feature is less than usable. It often doesn’t register when you press one of those two buttons, and even when it does, doesn’t always work. So insanely frustrating. Especially in the sleep regressions because it means I spend a ton of time on my phone while I’d much prefer going back to bed. It is still a huge help though so we do keep it around and I love that it was a total game changer for her sleeping when she was a baby. We got it when she was about 4 months old and it basically runs non stop day and night since then and still works absolutely perfect minus the app issues I have with it. Absolutely still highly recommend it- just seriously wish the company would fix the app features I mentioned. I already reached out to them a couple of years ago about the other app issues and they did fix those features within about a month so that was nice. Wish they would also add more bedtime story songs. The other types of bed songs they offer in different categories are almost too much high tones or excitement. Love the monotone type stories with some songs in the same.

FIX YOUR BUGS
Constant constant problems. Now since the update neither of my hatch’s play through the night. Every couple of hours I have to restart BOTH sound machines because they’ve both shut off . For something as consistent as sleep I would hope to have a more reliable system

Nothing free for the clock
All of the sounds for the alarm clock are part of the paid option. Extremely frustrating. Returning the clock and finding another. For the cost, it’s not worth it. And the app makes me answer the stupid question about my sleep quality every time I open it.

The fact that a network connection is required just to run the machine with lights / sounds is abysmal. Do not buy/ return this product.

After a year our three hatch machines have all broken. Absolute trash. And online help options are useless.
