Be careful! Sneaky In App Feature Tricks You Into Paying
I’m super disappointed. This app does exactly what I hoped it would do which is track expenses individually within a group. It’s been difficult to find an app I can share with my partner that doesn’t require sharing bank information and splitting the expenses. I simply just wanted a seamless way to track expenses we each make separately so each of us can see where our money goes to for our individual budgets and where we can be better savers.
I downloaded the app and took the “tour” that prompts when you first open the app. It’s a little digitally outdated but does everything I hoped it would. All of sudden during the tour of the app the screen goes completely white. In bold black letters the text says “Press Side Button Twice” with an arrow to the right side of the screen. My ADHD brain is so dialed in and excited I follow the prompt and just like that… 25.99 is charged to my card. I’m pretty upset because I immediately realized I have been tricked into subscribing to the service. This happened within 2 minutes of having the app downloaded.
I put in a refund request with apple. I was denied. Apple requested more information and I gave Apple more information. Denied again and was informed the decision is final. Contacted the apps developer and customer support directly and they stated “there’s nothing we can do. Apple generally issues refunds based on usage. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.”
So wild how an app is allowed to have a feature to trick people into buying into their subscription during a tour of the app. It should not be allowed. Super disappointed. I take full accountability for not following down and paying more attention AND shame on Apple and the development for denying my refund request and allowing an app to have this prompt in app. It’s misleading and not okay. I’ll be calling Apple tomorrow to dispute the charge for a third time. Wish me luck!

Frustrated
The app has a lot of promise and I’ve been extremely excited! However, I’m stuck! Because I had trouble registering my email account first. Then, I logged out of the app so that I could figure out how to add my elderly mother as a member of my room without an iPhone. Bad move. I have not been able to log back in without my son inviting me which creates another person in our room and throws off the division of financials. I tried to cancel my subscription because I thought I had seven days to cancel but somehow my subscription says one year of all services and I see no seven day window. So, I’m stuck and, we have expenses that need to be confirmed from accounts that I have no access to any longer. I reached out to Facebook customer service and through the app, to no avail. Frustrated and stuck, looking for another option.
