You would expect it to be fun, this game is like flee the facility. But gosh, it’s too difficult to navigate, skins are expensive. There’s barely anything for free, oh unlocking hero’s? It took me a weeks to unlock a single hero. Don’t get me started on the Ai. You decided to support artists up until a point where laziness was set on display. This game was lazy, you just decided to further prove the fact that this game is nothing but ai slop, rise and repeat slop.

This game is one of my favorites. But it’s blatant usage of ai and whitewashing of their few poc characters is disheartening and makes me want to drop it.

Replacing REAL people for AI is horrible. How greedy does one have to be? It’s cruel, honestly, replacing real people who have to provide for themselves and possibly a family. AI is harmful for the environment too, so this just makes the situation twice as bad.

The game used to be fun until NetEase decided to fire all their artists to use generative AI instead. That along with the fact they refuse to fix the racist problems with certain characters skins (like whitewashing the Enchantress) have forced me to quit playing this game. Do not download this game.

Idv has had a continuous issue with using AI and white washing their darker skinned characters!!! For a game that’s namesake is the costumes and story, you’d think they’d take pride in using human artists, but apparently not. I hope they release a statement soon and fix it.

i always played this game with my friends and spent a good amount of time and money on it. the costumes were literally gorgeous.
Netease is currently firing their artists and programmers and replacing them with AI. their $500 PHYSICAL art package is made with ai. $50 skins made with ai.
i don’t recommend downloading/rejoining the game until the boycott is over, as all decent players have left. i had to leave since the game is just plagued with trolls now.

Identity does not care.
As someone who has played this game since release, it’s hard writing this review. I have always loved identity V. even when I took huge breaks I’d always find myself coming back. It’s been about 10ish years now and to see the collapse of identity V is heart breaking. Identity V has always had racial issues by making POC characters skin lighter, making odd costumes, etc. they never listen to NA/EU, they pretend they do but when it’s huge concerns especially with racism, they turn an eye. Recently identity V was exposed for using generative AI on a huge tournament they do, and it broke my heart. Identity V definitely has enough money to pay for artists, I mean, if you search up COA especially the finals, you will see a huge stage, crazy effects, etc. if they have money to do that, they definitely have money to pay artists. It pains me to have to let go of a game that means so much to me. It is truly hard to let go of a game I grew up with, but we cannot let Identity V continue on letting things go. We have let so much slide. The racism, the real money cost of costumes, the continuance neglect on the players, the releases of costumes that are all pay to have, etc . Identity V, you never truly cared about your players. You have showed us that countless times.

the more recent use of ai and censoring the colored characters of their ethnic traits and backgrounds are insensitive and offensive. gen ai is not worth it-not only does it harm the environment but soon enough, ai will take samples from itself and self cannibalize until there’s nothing coherent or meaningful. I love this game, adore it, the art, the graphics, it’s all beautiful! But as of late, it’s become increasingly obvious IDV is using AI art and actually firing their artists. I do not support this and therefore do not support NetEase. STOP AI ART!!!

I love this game and the costumes that the developers create. However, the usage of ai in creating the newer costumes, events, etc. have made this game unplayable. It takes away the creativity and aesthetic I once loved about this game. I’d love to come back but as of now there’s still no news about netease stopping the usage of ai.

Awesome game, wonderful art, incredible gameplay. However, they started using generative AI for external marketing and art touchups. They refuse to produce a statement where they commit to working with real artists for their internal and external work without the use of generative AI. Until Netease produces a statement denouncing the use of generative AI for their game, I am uninstalling.

Game also white washes the 3 dark skinned characters they have and one of them has lots of racist and ignorant undertones in their character story. Also games competitive/creator scene still has players that aren’t banned when proof was shown that they’re a danger to others. Would’ve been rated higher but they don’t seem to care about the players feedback or grievances.

i’ve been playing identity v for almost 7 years and i’ve always praised the hard work that goes into this game; seeing the developers behind idv switch from raw, genuine artwork to ai is extremely disappointing. as a black individual, i’ve also been a huge fan of the diversity, but it seems that whitewashing and cultural insensitivity has been a reoccurring problem. listen to your fanbase and do better

The game has gotten significantly worse since AI has begun to be integrated into the game. Stop using it and stop lightening the skin of the only 2 black characters (which were added upwards of 7 years ago, no new ones).

Identity V is using AI!!
Identity has started using ai in official art little by little and fired a ton of artists in the company. The situation will eventually affect in game too, due to the new concepts being made my sloppy AI, and by concepts I mean, new characters, new skins, new stories/events, maybe even new animations like they did a COA hunter/photographer animation. If something is not done, then they won’t stop and the quality will immensely decrease due to the usage of AI. So if you are someone interested in getting the game do not get it, don’t invest in it.
