I HATE that I can’t search for furniture based on specific size! When I’m trying to find a cabinet that is 48in width, I want to be able to find one that is about 48in and not have to scroll through hundreds of other options!!!!!!

Unfortunately the item I need requires a $35 order to purchase and ship, BUT…. At checkout one of the 2 items are not available for shipping it is store pick up only. And my nearest IKEA is 3.5 hours away. Oh, and another issue last week was, the item is discontinued so we no longer offer shipping on that item. So I drove the 3.5 hours to buy the two items. Very disappointing how in stock, store pick up only, but online purchase will allow shipment with $35 order, but then it says “in store pick up only” because it’s being discontinued 🤷♀️I give up 🤦♀️

Beyond frustrating!
The IKEA app constantly has glitches and the website is even worse (if that’s even possible). Further, quality and functionality of planning “tools” aren’t even in the same stratosphere as competitors or AI apps. Using either IKEA platform is akin to the 1990s flip phone vs. an iPhone. IKEA, if you can’t offer an easy-to-use, stable platform that in the words of Steve Jobs “just works”, scrap it and start over. Beyond frustrating.
It’s changed
I used to like this, but the rewards system changed and I don’t like it anymore. Also, whenever you are shopping I always find things I love just for the app then to tell me that the product that it advertised to me and let me add to my shopping cart is not available for delivery, nor is it available at a single location in America. I just tried to place an order and 12 of the 13 items in my cart were not available… why even advertise it to me. I would have just gotten the chair in a different color, but not now that I know that I could have gotten it in a color I prefer for $150 less!

Disrespects your notification settings
I turn off all push notifications related to marketing in-app. What does it do? Sends push notifications for marketing campaigns.
App doesn't respect notification settings
The app doesn't respect its own notification settings-specifically if you have marketing notifications turned off, it still sends them. I've contacted IKEA about it a couple times, and they're unhelpful and dismissive. They are holding important order notifications hostage it seems.
Server is always down
Every time I open the app it says something is wrong or server is down. I always have to revert to the online site.
Can’t even log in
I couldn’t figure out why I didn’t already have this app, then I downloaded it and remembered why I had previously deleted it. Despite repeated efforts, I never received the code that was supposed to be sent to my email. Yes, it was spelled correctly and yes I checked my spam folder. This is the email for my existing ikea account. I have received plenty of their marketing emails so I know they can email me just fine.
Customer service sucks
Wow I applied for projekt card so i can place an order for an entire kitchen and the application said I’ll get a response in 10-14 days. Then I remembered I had frozen all credit agencies because of them getting hacked and id theft so this morning i unfreeze them and applied again. This time it said I have a pending application so I can’t apply again. I somehow managed to pass bots and AI and talked to 3 different people from 3 different departments/bank no one has any clue or have an actual contact that can help.
Now i’ll have to wait 14 days for a rejection letter, then unfreeze my accounts again, then reapply, wait again for it to be approved, then place the order, wait for it to ship and delivered so I can start assembling 20-30 cabinets. All my credit applications so far always been either immediately approved or rejected reminding me my freeze and I’d fix and reapply immediately.
It shouldn’t be this in efficient, it’s digital age, I’m either approved or rejected, what’s the 14 day wait for? I’m already having problems with Ikea before even make a purchase, maybe it’s a sign to change my mind and order it from somewhere else.

Scan and Don't Go
Scan and go would not work. I spent my time scanning everything as I shopped only for it not to work when I got up front constantly showing some kind of programming error at the top. This was not a fun experience.
Not available En language for Romanian store…
Why do not available to select an English language in Romanian locale!? Super stupid… there are a lot of non local customers !!!

Intentional Failure?
Made an order on the IKEA app in August, most of which was to be delivered in October (that long a delay is already a major red flag). Part of the second shipment (1 item of 6 remaining items) was delivered early; after this delivery, both IKEA app and the shipping company (CRST Specialized) claim the order is completely delivered, despite 5 missing items. I spent several hours to get IKEA to re-ship the missing items. I was told to expect delivery in the next 3-4days. Instead the delivery is scheduled for more than 2weeks out, and the delivery list is missing 2 items (2x Rast 3 drawer chests), which are now "OUT OF STOCK" despite being paid for, and processed for delivery. -It seems like IKEA wants to force orders to be cancelled.
UPDATE 10/28/2025:
rescheduled delivery of remaining items has failed- working w/ customer service rep Jason who has suggested that cancelling the order may be the best resolution.

On the first page I can't select a region (the list is blank) and the app hangs when clicking "Get Started"
Adding digital gift to wallet
Love this app but for iPhones you need to enter the 19 digit code from the back of the gift card. On android it lets you type as many characters as needed. For the iPhone app version it only locks you into 16 characters only. PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP!!!!!

Lack of English options
PLEASE add English as a language option for Italy. Why do you have it for Germany, but not Italy? It is incredibly difficult to navigate your app when you can’t change the language to English. There are thousands of American military families living in Italy that do not know Italian and Ikea is the primary place we get furniture here.

IKEA is slow and customer service is arrogant
IKEA delivery is slow and customer service hung up when I complained about the rescheduling. When rescheduling, the availability usually is one week from today. It is much worse than wayfair since they can deliver to the door without me being at home.

Delivery setup on mobile needs major upgrade
Your app doesn’t allow adding additional delivery notes during checkout like on the web site. You should allow customers to add additional information for their address on file to avoid delivery issues. Example: entry gate codes.

Prices higher than store
Here is my experience with the IkEA app . I fiwnloaded the app today and ordered a bookcase to be picked up today via click and collect at the store. All went ok. I went back to the store this sfternoon for additional shelves and found the bookcase $10 less. Went to customer service and was told because I bought through the app, they don’t match the price! It’s supposed to be the same company. She called the manager who agreed that when you buy through the app or online they won’t match the price in the store. Feeling very ripped off by IkEA. Deleting this app.
Very poor international support
Doesn’t work for a US locale phone in a non US country. Won’t even let you log in! From US living in the UK and the app is less than useless. Due to Apple subscriptions I literally couldn’t change my phone locale for a full year, even if I wanted to!

IKEA’s delivery service is an absolute disaster. The dispatch team clearly doesn’t communicate with the operators, and I’ve been bombarded with emails and texts showing completely wrong delivery dates. It’s chaotic, confusing, and entirely unreliable.
What’s worse is the total lack of coordination - no one seems to know what’s going on, and I kept getting conflicting information. I wasted hours trying to track down basic updates and never got a clear answer. It’s by far the worst delivery experience I’ve ever had from a major company.
I will never order online from IKEA again. I’ve already told my friends to avoid it and shared how unbelievably bad this experience has been. Very disappointing from a brand that’s supposed to be reputable.

Worked fine until I logged in
I just redownloaded the ikea app. I haven’t had it on my phone for a while. I wanted to save a fav so I had to log in. Once I logged in the entire app froze. Nothing worked. Scroll. tap. Back. Nothing.
HUGE favorites list bug
literally every single time i make a favorites list, it’s gone by the next time i open the app. this has been a consistent problem for a very long time now and it frustrates me to no end. 5 stars if/when this is fixed.

Am I blind, or does this suck?
The item photos on this app are ridiculous. White furniture on identical white backgrounds is plain dumb. The dark colors are so oversaturated one can barely make out shapes. How many IKEA employees saw and approved this nonsense before it went live?
Then there are multiple listings for the exact same item in multiple colors, but if you click into one of the listings, it has all the colors available embedded for selection. So, if there are three colors available for a Billy, there will be three listings of that item. They aren’t even in order/grouped together. This is bad merchandising.

Love IKEA, Hate the App
Ordering through the website works, but the app does not. The app declined my cc twice, though my bank had no cc issues. Sometimes the app will not open, and sometimes it's so slow it times out.

Browsing products and going through the store works well enough. It does feel like a website crammed down to an app/iPad at times rather than a mobile first design but it works, it doesn’t have to be a luxury experience.

Customer service links out to a random, there’s a random loading indicator that when I tapped took me to a weird modal of a happy woman with no text and just a button that said “Got It”, trying to investigate how different item choices impact delivery options takes DECADES, a lot of pages are largely empty with like a sentence on them. The smartphone is almost 20 years old and IKEA feels like they’re showing up with a 2 year old app. This isn’t some hot new startup struggling to keep pace, this is cost cutting neglect
