Slower more bloated, ads cover screen won't go away
Terrible! Unresponsive and bloated like its fascist greedy oligarch owner Bozo. Won’t retain settings, bookmarks, faves etc. Increasingly slooooow slower, unresponsive, more buffering, stalling. Unwanted Ads or ad frames cover half to 3/4 of the screen often and can't get rid of them! Getting bloated and far Worse over time. Ruined a decent app. Virtually unusable on iPhone SE iOS 17.7 after recent unnecessary updates. Bloatware.

I put reviews in. I’ve been a member of this app for a long time and you don’t even know if they’re gonna put it in place your input or rating. I’ve seen it when I’ve added when they show only has let’s say 10 reviews and I do a rating that would I change the overall rating according to mathematics but nothing happens. It seems they incorporate reviews if it meets their needs. Also the search function is ridiculous. I was just looking at a show that’s on history channel and I typed in exactly what the name of the show is nothing comes up. This happens all the time. It seems their database is lame to say the least. I’m gonna look for another app because this place is biased and lacks information that is needed for the TV and movie viewer no stars for this frigging app.

I used to use this app all the time. Then for some reason they made it so it would no longer run on my older phone. It’s a database of tv and movies. A database. The most complicated thing it does is play movie trailers. Why on earth does it need the newest iOS version? You are asking me to pay hundreds of dollars to get a newer phone just to use a database. No thank you. App deleted from my phone. Maybe someday you’ll figure out how to make a simple app that runs on everyone’s phones.
Review bombers
Action should be taken toward obvious review bombs, like for example if something is mostly 10/10, nothing in between, and then a bunch of 1/10, thats how you find review bombs. Plz do something about that. Bring that one episode (wont say which) back to 10.00

Ive been using imdb since inception and the iPhone and ipad apps have never been worse. In past few months they have been crashing more and more frequently & now it’s completely unusable.

Seems like something that should be really easy to implement. Type in an actor, type in a director, anything they’ve done together is returned. Would be super helpful

IMDb app had been a daily enjoyable fixture for me. With these giants ads now? Congrats. You’ve got me annoyed and really starting to hate using this app. You’re alienating your users. Cut it out.
Piece of junk
I have to reboot the app after every single movie search. It will successfully search for one movie, load that page, and then literally anything else causes the app to load until it crashes. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, logged out, stayed logged out, logged in, everything. They broke the app months ago, and there has been no improvement since. It’s infuriating to use. I’m deleting this junk from my phone and moving on. Been using it for over a decade. What a shame to see it crash out.

Forced sign up?
I use this app from time to time but now they are trying to force me to sign up just to read some reviews… not to post but view reviews. I’ll wait till the next update to see if I will delete this app and go back to rottentomatoes and other similar sites.

First the search bar placement sucks on VoiceOver, now I cannot even read reviews with being prompted to create an account. Nor can I smoothly use this app with out an intrusive ad. It is like they want us to move to another application. Off to Rotten Tomatoes…
Constant full page ads
Have used this app for years and have to delete now due to constant full page ads that I can’t bypass. I just opened the app, started to search an actor, and immediately got hit with 3 full screen, unskippable, back to back ads for DoorDash. I couldn’t even complete the search and had to close the app. IMDb…. No amount of ad money is worth you guys ruining this app for your loyal visitors.
Why ads now
I have been a long time IMDb lover, I use this app almost daily to check facts and statistics about shows and movies I watch and the actors in them. I tell friends and family about it when they ask cinema questions so they can also enjoy it. BUT TODAY I OPENED THE APP AND GOT A FULL PAGE AD I HAD TO VIEW AND DISMISS. Please don’t turn into every other company out here cramming unwanted advertising down the throats of your users. If this is a permanent thing I will be deleting my account, getting my information from elsewhere, and will no longer recommend you to anyone.

Once a great app is becoming annoying
As stated, this app used to be great. I’ve used this app for longer than I can even remember. It’s still good in many aspects, these updates have are starting to ruin it. The constant push for you to create a profile and log into before you can even read a review is frustrating. Maybe it’s a glitch but I doubt it because it’s been there for a few updates now. The new layout is ok but not as good as before. Also why did they remove searching for episodes within a series, was it moved elsewhere? Who knows. I like this app enough that I’d to update my review in the future.

You can no longer read movie or tv show reviews without an account. It only shows a little of the review then forces a sign in. Why?!?!? I’ve been using IMDb for decades without an account and suddenly I need to sign in?! Deleting it.
It Keeps Getting Worse
The app has been gradually getting worse over time. Specifically, it has been pushing users to create an account for every little thing. The icons to “favorite” a title or actor have grown larger so that when a user taps said title or actor, there’s like a 75% chance the app reads it as an attempt to favorite and so pushes the account registration screen. The i-frames have become more pervasive overall, and you’ll notice that the content on-screen jumps up or down without any input from the user, which “coincidentally” results in the tapping of an ad.
This latest update is the final straw for me. No longer can users read or even see other/all reviews without creating an account. Despite knowing that as an Amazon product, IMDB reviews (especially featured and top reviews) will always be skewed, being able to see specifics about what others liked or disliked about certain titles was helpful in deciding whether a title is likely to resonate with me.
Now that access to user generated content like reviews, trivia, etc. requires an account, I suppose I will have to look elsewhere or create a fake account.

You can’t see reviews anymore unless you have an account. This isn’t required for the web version.

Had this app since iPhone 4, I am never signing in to read reviews. What a joke, it’s not for security, it’s to get info about you. Amazon app started doing the same thing for reviews, for people who just want to browse. Video player is garbage, why are there ads to tell you to download the imbd app inside the app? IMDB just killed themselves by requiring users to submit personal info just to READ reviews. We the people are tired of being tracked and monitored. We are tired of subscriptions and are boycotting this method of stealing our data for big companies to profit off of. I just deleted the app and I know many others will too.

What is going on??!
I have used IMDB for literally a few decades, and in those many years I have had to sign in maybe a handful of times and genuinely, even when it was infrequent it was always a pain. Yet as of recent months mid 2025 both the app, and the browser which I use almost daily, is now literally weekly logging me out and forcing me to sign in and even now in 2025 the system for signing in is at the bottom of the barrel of one of the worst most problematic interfaces with constant connection issues. I don’t know what is going on or who is responsible but for such a big name and historic website, this level of reckless carelessness is shockingly embarrassing. This is not 2005 anymore and with the amount of power the company has this should not be an issue or at the very least, be readily fixed and implemented. Disappointed and incredibly frustrated at this level of repeated incompetence. Also why is it literally IMPOSSIBLE to watch a trailer?!?! FIX YOUR DUMPSTER FIRE OF AN APP!!! Or simply reverse this god awful version and literally go back to one THAT ACTUALLY WORKED!!!!!
