Ive had this app for a while. They blocked its use but continued to bill my account despite the inability to use it. They finally resolved the issue but did not refund the money. Please note if you travel internationally beware as they may block its use despite lack of use overseas

Major Issue unresolved
Cannot add TEAM and no one can help without bouncing us back and forth between INDEX and old SIDELINE account. Error message “Existing Account Found” when team was on Sideline, successfully removed yet this app has no answer. Terrible app

Oh and their customer service is the worse I have seen. No phone support and whoever is texting to “help”, is texting several other customers simultaneously. YOU are NOT their priority!

Years of Loyalty - Blocked Without Explanation
I’ve been a long-time user of this app, originally with Sideline and then transitioned into Index, relying on it consistently for business operations. But after years of stable use, my account was suddenly blocked without clear explanation. When I reached out to support, I was given vague responses like “please be mindful of our Terms of Service” - yet no one could specify what terms were supposedly violated.
After submitting multiple reviews and asking directly what part of the policy I breached, I was met with canned, unhelpful replies. Even worse, they told me to log into my account to cancel my subscription… despite the fact that my account was blocked and inaccessible (which I had already explained multiple times). The level of incompetence and dismissiveness from the support team was astonishing.
This service has not only failed to provide transparency, but their careless approach has directly impacted my business. Communication was robotic at best, and there seems to be little regard for customer experience or accountability.
If you rely on a business line for your work, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. The inconsistency and lack of clarity here simply aren’t worth the risk.

Not worth it
Business line missed a lot of inquires, numerous times I’ve had customers not receive my text messages. Not to mention the customer service does not even have a number to call.
Disappointed
Initially, I had been using Sideline for the second phone number, but then was told that Index had superior options and recommended to switch over as it was a sister app. However, just in the last six weeks to two months, I have had the worst experience with this app/company. Reading the reviews further confirms, and at least provides me with some relief, knowing that I wasn’t the only one who has had poor communication with representatives through their support chats or emails. I even wonder if the apps response to the negative reviews on here will do anything at this point. I know for a fact that I have lost business and job opportunities because my phone number was not receiving calls or text messages and the deadlines had passed. It upsets me to know that I have thrown away money at this app and am being taken advantage of and given the run around. They “fix” my issue and then within one day or two it’s on the fritz again. They tried to blame my cell phone service provider with filtering these calls/text, but I contacted my cell phone provider and they informed me that they have no filtering on these texts as it is all routed through Index’s own servers/number. It is embarrassing that I have had to give my personal number to clients to avoid telling them that my number isn’t working. It makes me look like I couldn’t afford to pay my phone bill and overall it just seems so unprofessional. Unfortunately, I have to keep this phone number because all my advertisements and merchandise contain it and would cost me thousands to replace it. Hopefully I’ll be able to find a way to keep my phone number and transfer it for use on another app/service that can actually help prevent this issue… not just temporarily. At this point, I am at their mercy and it is a horrible feeling.
NoGo
I never leave reviews so this comes with passion I was with sideline for many years and recently they were having all kinds of texting issues sending and receiving messages so they moved me to index. The issues would last nearly a week which is un acceptable for businesses. Once I moved to Index the problem still occurred for a while. They registered me with the registry which is now a requirement for businesses. The service started working again. But now we are completely getting no messages and we are unable to send no messages. It is now day 13 and still nothing this has been detrimental to our company as our whole company runs off of text messaging.
We have made plans to switch services because we see no end insight. I do not know who’s fault it is but we have been given a Port out date 10 days from the date we initiated it that is way too far out and way too long to have the wait without text messaging Services.
And all of my life of running businesses I have never seen a company with an outage that lasted this long. One note I must make is that they have a customer service chat and email and they are very responsive on that with quick turnaround however, that’s pretty much all it is is chitchatting back-and-forth with no outcome and still lack of texting service abilities.
While I am waiting until my port out date I am hoping they can either move my port out date sooner and or fix my text message abilities come and give me one or the other. It has been a half of a month with no texting service: index and sideline have a wonderful concept and great system when it is working but when they have issues it is a very long time to fix. If they can fix the down times and create more reliable service i would come back

Don’t migrate from Sideline
This app requires that you include your business details. I used sidelines as a personal additional number - not for a specific business. Very frustrating that all of my old texts are lost after migration because I don’t have a business to register.
A shady app that will frustrate you and customers
Had index for my barbershop and the service decided to ban me when i reached out to customer service they said , “ you’re banned because you’re banned .” Ok i would let by gones be by gone if this app didnt reply to my customers , “STOP.” And “ DONT TEXT .” All which i have screenshots from multiple customers very SHADY! Avoid this sham of a service if you value your customers!
Annoying app
Had sideline then they changed it to index . I’ve had since 2019 never had any real issues until now , I think they need to loosen the settings on the fraud filter , never had a issue until 2 weeks ago in which my account has been blocked 2x . Apparently if you send the same message repeatedly or same messages to multiple numbers they block the account . Well with a business line most responses are going to be repetitive . Now I could understand if was sending same message to hundreds of people but when it’s 6-10 it’s just ridiculous to be flagged . Please send filters back to what they were previously because this is getting ridiculous.
This will ruin your business!
This app goes down regularly which causes you to be unable to send and receive calls and texts! Imagine spending thousands on Google ads for your business only to find the app is not allowing calls and texts to go through! Yea this happened and keeps happening to my business. They keep saying “oh it’s out fraud filters” - I have been in business for ten years! This app has cost my business thousands of dollars! Do not get this - you will be sorry!
Disappointed
I’m really upset. I have used Index for just over a year. I’ve create a brand and my Index business number is associated with my brand. One time before, my number was being blocked and I couldn’t send or receive messages or phone calls. They fixed it, but in the time it happened, I’m losing business. Then it happened again, lost business. Then I couldn’t send images, then messages were not sent because they were too long. Now, on Christmas…my number is inactive and if you text or call it, it says the number is no longer in service. Sorry, but I’m doing business on Christmas and I can’t get anyone from Index because I am sure they are not working today. Basically it seems like my number has been hacked. As soon as I get this cleared up, I’ll just use my phone carrier and hope I can port this number over.
There's no customer service
The company used to be sideline, but changed their name to Index. Now I'm being billed by both. In addition to the $9.99/mo I pay through Sideline, I was just charged a limp sum of $200 for the year by Index without warning. When I reached out twice asking if the Sideline monthly charges would stop, I was told:
"Hi. This is Sideline Support. All subscriptions on iOS are handled directly via Apple. This means you need to cancel them on your end, unfortunately, as Apple does not allow us to cancel it on your behalf."
But I don't want to cancel - I need to keep the number. Nobody will answer my question, even though a "customer support" person emailed me the same thing without answering my question. When I replied to that email there was no response. Moral of the story: don't ever use this company for a phone number you'll be stuck with.

Awful
I was using the Banned in my phone and my account got locked when I opened Index. I’ve been a customer for many years and now they are telling me that they cannot unlock my account to access the numbers of messages and they don’t allow me to use the account anymore this is awful.

Please stay away from this company, I have a issue since 4 days ago and I’m still waiting for solution, only promise that they will fix it and nothing yet, I’m in the middle of the process to move away to another company because this company don’t offer solutions to their issues

Used to be good. Not anymore
When it was just sideline it worked great. Ever since the merge with index, the whole platform is unreliable. I would definitely NOT recommend. Calls don’t come through. Text will go through hours after being sent, if at all. Their customer service/support is probably the worst I’ve seen out of any app I’ve ever downloaded.
Not What It Used To Be
My contacts in this app disappeared for two weeks now they’ve been trying to resolve this problem another problem I can’t receive text messages but I send them out. This company is blaming T-Mobile for the problem. Also horrible customer service takes forever to get back to you and you cannot talk to human if you need details to resolve your problem. might just have to get a second phone or another line and take my business elsewhere.
Absolute trash
This app and their negligence in faulty coding have cost me thousands of dollars lost from my business since it switched from sideline to this index app. I was kicked out of my own app and cannot log back in even though I have changed my password. I have downloaded and re-downloaded turn my phone off, powered it down, rebooted it do not give these people your money. They haven’t corrected the issue and its been two days i been locked out of my own account: There’s no one to speak to. Clearly, they are highly shortstaffed because they can only text you and I haven’t heard anything back from them in hours.
The only reason I don’t leave is because I would have to change my business number.
So far this app has been tedious at best. It has so many limitations. It also has “outages” and “disruptions” far more than it should. I would get another business app line, but so much of my marketing materials are already out in the world.

Too many issues
This app was great when it was SideLine. Since it changed to Index, I’ve had multiple issues with the app and have missed important business calls and texts with limited help from support staff. Also, outages are not communicated properly. I’ve decided to take my business elsewhere.
Terrible execution
We have had a terrible experience with this product. Our account gets shut down multiple times a week. Here are experiences with the features.
We never tried utilizing the payment gateway they have. This seems like a great idea. We did discuss product costs with a client though. That triggered the anti-abuse system to block our account. We were told that discussing money can cause the abuse system to block your account.
Mass messaging was an appeal to us, although we have never used it. We were flagged by the anti abuse software again, this time they said we sent too many messages at once, so if you purchase index, don’t use this feature. They allow up to 25 recipients, we manually texted less than 25 people and were flagged.
Templates are super useful. We have templates in there to assist people with regular questions. This, along with sharing links can flag you by the abuse department and shut down your account.
We have had customer service guarantee that we can use these features, and verified we are not abusing the software. We still get locked out daily. Getting locked out during business hours is usually pretty easy, and we get restored quickly. Usually, after 8pm, the 24 hour customer service is basically non responsive and you won’t be able to get help. Also, when the account is blocked, any texts sent to you or from you, don’t exist.
These are our experiences over the last 6 weeks. We are currently shut down again as i write this. I literally have nightmares over texting and this is costing us money.

Messages never deliver. Always problems signing in. I have been using Index for over 2 years and their solution to having issues is to find a new software and this is after I had my whole time sign up to use it. Ericka is a horrible customer service rep!!!! Texting platform is a waste of money.
Took away number after purchase
So I purchased a number and everything seemed fine. I gave that number out to a few places and decided to check on it a couple days later because I hadn’t received any calls: the number was “expired” and it said I needed to pick a new number. This is pretty unbelievable considering users may use this for a business number.

Avoid at all costs-Does not let you text T-Mobile customers and don’t respond after they say they are working on the problem. Many probably don’t realize this.
Charging me when I never subscribed
I would give negative stars for this. I never installed your app before, never ever opted for monthly subscription. Out of no where, I get three transactions of 24.99 for monthly subscription. Duplicate charges on top an unapproved subscription charges?

Import contacts
The only major issue I have with this app is that it asks you every time to import your personal contacts on your phone. This is a business account used by myself and another person, the personal contacts are not needed. I wish there was an option turn off the setting that is always asking for the contacts.
Cumbersome to use
I’ve had the app one day and I’m already ready to move onto something else. My biggest problem is if you are connected as a team you get maybe 10 seconds to answer a call before it gets forwarded to voicemail automatically with their announcement system that you cannot turn off when connected as a team. By the time you answer the call, you barely have enough time to find the keypad to press one to connect the call., 98% of the time it goes right to voicemail. The announcement feature is incredibly useless when not connected to Wi-Fi and again you can’t turn it off.

Team share does not work.
If you like when people steal your time. Enjoy. Tech-support is slow and horrible. Worst experience I’ve ever had with any software. And I work with tons of software. I installed the app last night. Tried to get team share to work. The invitees never received the invite text. tech-support deleted the person I invited from the system while trying to figure out what was going on. Now I can’t get them back in the system no matter what I do. Tech-support now claims after 24 hours too many people have been invited. And that’s why it’s not working. They want me to wait 24 hours and try again. Why the heck can’t they just reset it. They can see who I have invited. I’ve only invited three people total. Some of them multiple times because they never received their text. Invite. However, for the first 12 hours, I only invited two people. No one has ever received an invite text. There seems to be a workaround however tech-support can’t tell me how it works from the other end. Or whether any of my invites are still in the system.
Careful
I was using this app for product sales from my social media, using specifically txt, my account/# was abruptly suspended and hundreds of my txts with customer shipping addresses disappeared.
Reason: was told my account was a spam account from the amount of txt going in and out, I did not do a single automated message, every txt was literally typed by my thumbs lol, anyway if u use this app be aware that you can randomly lose all txt msgs

Avoid at all costs
When they were Sideline this company was reliable. Since the transition, this has become the worst service on the market. They transferred my number and it immediately stopped working. I reached out to customer service and they told me that I wouldn’t be able to get in touch with me again until after the weekend. There were still two hours of service time on the clock when I reached out and they informed me to “just wait until Monday.” I run my business on the weekend and informed them of that, and they had no interest in helping me until a later date even while continuing to text me. They charged me for services that were never provided and continued to be unhelpful all throughout my contact process. They charge more than Sideline, have non-functional features, the worst customer service, and no discernible interest in improving. Avoid at all cost!

Unable to create an account
I tried to create an account but unable to do that. it keeps saying “There may be an issue with your connection. Please try again or visit our help center if you need a hand”
From great to trash
I initially loved the service but it recently became terrible business service. I would not recommend this as a small business phone. Worst call quality ever.
Unreliable
Missing text messages all the time! They just done come through some times, sending and receiving. Voicemails are sometimes just silent also. Definitely switching. Sideline was way better.
Into the dumpster
I was already having issues when it was Sideline and I have even more issues now. Not only is the Auto Reply to Calls with Text Message very inconsistent, I’ve had caller ID fail, and, one of the worst things, text messaging malfunctioning. Clients and potential clients think I’m ignoring them. I am looking at different apps to hopefully port my number to. If not, my best bet is to buy another phone for business.
Incoming Calls don’t show up
Sideline was great. Once it switched to pinger I don’t get calls, calls to some carriers don’t work and they increased it to 30 dollars. Don’t recommend.
No longer reliable for business, we’re switching
We’ve used this (and when it was called Sideline prior) since 2016. Unfortunately it is no longer reliable for us to continue to use.
For the last 6 months we’ve had an issue where customers are sending us text messages, but they are not being received. Most messages seem to work fine, but for the last month we have been made aware of 4-5 per week. The true number is not known, as these are only the people that have followed up with us wondering why they did not receive a response.
The app has many other technical glitches as well relating to voicemails cutting off or not being delivered, phone numbers glitching when being entered, etc. These have been ongoing for years but could be overlooked.
The current problem with missing text messages is the last straw for us, as we can’t afford to have messages not delivered in our line of work.
I have been assured numerous times by customer support that the problem has been resolved through various technical methods (jargon like “rotating pilot numbers”, having the number “rebroadcast”, and “backend server” glitch).
I don’t believe customer support knows how to fix the issue, and we can’t afford to wait any longer as everyday a new missed message leads to angry customers and ultimately more work for us.
We will be porting out our phone number at the earliest opportunity, and for any serious business I would recommend you stay away until the problem can be fixed.
I’ll update this review if the problem is actually resolved in the future, or once we’ve completed the switch away from Index

The app has many other technical glitches as well relating to voicemails cutting off or not being delivered, phone numbers glitching when being entered, etc. These have been ongoing for years but could be overlooked.
The current problem with missing text messages is the last straw for us, as we can’t afford to have messages not delivered in our line of work.
I have been assured numerous times by customer support that the problem has been resolved through various technical methods (jargon like “rotating pilot numbers”, having the number “rebroadcast”, and “backend server” glitch).
I don’t believe customer support knows how to fix the issue, and we can’t afford to wait any longer as everyday a new missed message leads to angry customers and ultimately more work for us.
We will be porting out our phone number at the earliest opportunity, and for any serious business I would recommend you stay away until the problem can be fixed.
I’ll update this review if the problem is actually resolved in the future, or once we’ve completed the switch away from Index
Missing text messages from clients
I don’t know what’s going on lately but I have had multiple clients of mine saying they sent me text messages but I don’t have them. This is very frustrating as a small business owner who relies heavily on being able to send and receive text messages seamlessly. It really makes me wonder how many potential new clients have texted me but I haven’t received their messages.
I had none of these issues with Sideline so it’s extremely frustrating that it’s happening now. And it’s also very inconvenient to be forced to keep the sideline app to keep the pricing sideline had us at. Phone storage is precious and it’s way weird to be told to keep a old app to keep your price the same.
At this point I will probably keep using the app for a little bit but I am saving some money to just buy a business cell phone because I can’t afford to lose thousands of dollars due to clients not receiving my texts or me not receiving theirs.

LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS
Listen to the bad reviews on here !!! They have terrible customer service. They will just quit replying to you before your problem is resolved and don’t care do not get this app. Whatever you do especially if you have to port a number because then you have to pay to port the number out to a better app that’s not index.
Got tricked into trying this app but it’s pure garbage!
I used TextFree and an ad for this app popped up saying it was the best app ever!

Do not pay for this garbage
App doesn’t work. You don’t know whose calling. All call ssay “incoming sideline call”. You don’t get notified for text messages as well. They’re constantly banning me for “spam” when I’m texting and calling clients. Sideline pro perfect. Index is a dumpster fire. Save you’re $15 a month and use on on an app that actually works.
Appointment Reminders feature!!!
Fix the appointment reminders feature ASAP. My entire business runs through outlook and for some reason now I can only send appointment reminders to clients if I use google calendar…. This makes no sense, just a short time ago it didn’t matter what platform you used. Not only that but even to use the feature with google calendar it’s annoying since you can only book appointments through the index app. Very disappointed with the changes and am considering other apps if this doesn’t get fixed soon.

Index is horrible, sideline worked flawlessly, now, annoying issues all day….couple they with the fact that they raised prices.
My incoming calls have a delay and sometimes won’t even ring, just pop up a missed call.
I always end up soliciting a review when trying to send a text because the UI is horrible and all the buttons are jammed together.
The caller id doesn’t work in real time, it looks like everybody is calling from the same number.

Unreliable
I am a therapist and this app has gotten me in a lot of trouble. I can’t rely on my texts to go through or for my clients to receive texts. I’ve learned this through scheduling catastrophes. Really hope they put some work into fixing it I may move to google voice.
What just happened?
My Sideline updated switched me to this app. It has NONE of the features I loved with Sideline. Booooo

Only use them because they seems to be the least of the worst. That said, this app is junk. One example: customers that pay for the app don’t get some of the features that are in the free version. Like, the ability to have one sideline number on two phones. This would allow coworkers to share responsibility instead of defeating the purpose and having to share the phone. After 2+ years of battling they finally just created a new app and didn’t tell any of the paid customers…
Awful!
When it was sideline, I had no problems. I’ve had it since the number was free. Once it converted to Index I’ve had nothing but problems. I’m annoyed that I will have to pay 50 to keep my number and take my business elsewhere.
