Denied membership with no explanation
So upset with this app, I recently moved to Ireland and have been struggling to make friends hoping this app would help but when I applied for a membership I was denied with no information as to why. Honestly really hurt to be rejected from another place while trying so hard to adjust to a new community

Don’t bother using this app as you can clearly see that every pic has western country flag and not a single picture of two eastern countries.
No free option removed
I have been Internations member for 10 years it was a life saver knowing ex pats/immigrants feel welcome and belong to a community. The free option was great to many people. Now we are forced to pay a membership to communicate and reach people international when we travel. The membership is very pricey. Sad I will have to remove myself from this organization. Sad!

Membership Declined
After listing the places where I used to live and applied for membership, I think it was only after a few seconds I got an email that it was declined. Did not know so far based on which criteria it was declined. This app doesn’t even worth a one star rating.

I just downloaded the and got my account disabled for no reason they didn’t even let me finish making my account

I’ve messaged the app people repeatedly but no response. I’m paid and sent them proof but the app removed my membership status. I don’t know what’s happening. Maybe this will get a response.

Don’t join!
Internations is a shady org. They make it very hard to cancel your membership and will send threatening emails for not maintaining a current credit card on file. This is a scam organization that provides next to no service (they rely on volunteers in country to organize things) and tries to lock you into payments with the inability to get out. They don’t even let you downgrade a membership, which shows you how shady they are. If you’ve already joined, I recommend canceling your membership right away, before they turn into a a debt collection agency (which seems to be the only actually paid staff they have).
Scammers
I joined the trial and decided the app wasn’t for me prior to the trial period ending. I proceeded to downgrade and cancel the trial. A couple of weeks later InterNations charged $119.40 and changed the membership that I no longer had to their yearly subscription. I have reached out through their support service about 8 times now without a single response. I was forced to file a fraud claim with my bank and cancel my debit card.

Why the ads?
As an albatross member I have the choice to hide ads from my feed, but despite choosing to do so the app keeps showing them. I’m moving to the web based version, so I can block that c**p. Very bad UX. So long, InterNations app.
Unresponsive
The app should be called: international unresponsiveness. People are afraid, lazy, or I have know what their problem is. One of the worst apps I have ever dealt with.

InterNations destroys itself
Basic members can no longer see the location of interest group events. What happens next is a steep drop off in attendance as most basic members are NOT going to pay 59.99 for three months and will be unable to attend events. As attendance drops off Albatros members will stop renewing and stop attending as the events will no long attract new people. This continues till you have a very small number of diehards and very few new members. Stupid stupid stupid decision that’ll ruin a really great concept. I’m an albatross by the way and will most likely not renew once this happens

Beware the community, the billing practices
If you love getting messages from creepy men, join Internations. There are also no reminder emails about the account renewing so cancel immediately if you’re not interested after a trial. You will not get refunded under any circumstance.
Price strategy is wrong. I am charged 117usd. My friend 40% lower
There is something wrong, as they do not give benefits for Loyalty. Been for 20 years a part of Internations. After Covid19 2020-2022, I am trying to renew my Albatross and they are charging me 40% MORE, vs my friend which was quoted 71usd… WHY?
Dark Pattern Scam
It’s straight up a dark pattern scam. Tried to charged my card without notifying me. Only because the payment was blocked by my card company did they email me to tell me my payment was overdue. When i refused to pay, they literally said they’d send debt collectors. It’s a pattern. They have it built into their t&c’s and they know exactly what they’re doing. If you are charged without warning, PLEASE, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY or pay pal or whatever service you use. Their fraud investigators will deem the charge illegal regardless of what internations t&cs say and internations has no legal leg to stand on. They are completely aware of this. Do not be scammed or intimidated like I was.

I was unable to log back into my account on the app after trying the app as an Albatross member, did not get ANY help or contact from InterNations until AFTER I was charged the “non-refundable” yearly membership of $100+.

Highly DO NOT Recommend
I joined the trial version for a month and wasn't that impressed with the level of options and events to take advantage of. Messaging members around you (and sometimes they are nowhere near you) seems to be the only value. They app Membership setting to cancel free trial is not under the "Membership" page. It's hidden in "Login & Basic Data" This is such a scammy move to hide the cancelation option and is just a joke in today's App landscape. Clearly a shortsighted company that doesn't intend on serving a community long term. Don't waste your time or money!

Membership issue
This app needs quality updates. I signed up for an annual membership on October 2021 paying $130.64. My membership is supposed to last until October 2022 and currently it’s showing my membership as ended. This is so frustrating as I paid and can’t access to my membership features.
SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!
They trick you into free trial, send you tons of spam notifications about their events and charge your card for a year commitment without any alerts that you’re going to be charged. They will then turn you over if you ask to refund this charges despite you’re not using the app and you don’t need the membership. Don’t even try to download this app! They don’t care about you after they get your money and you will never see them back!

InterNations is a low-tech app based on generating in-person meetings that charge fees. Think Ponzi scheme meets pre-2000 web.

They refused to cancel my membership upon request. The website does not allow me to cancel my membership.
Group leader was discriminatory
I joined InterNations as a paid member for about a year or so in order to be able to attend the sub-group events. Unfortunately, one of the sub-group leaders/volunteers was very rude and discriminated against me. When I sent my concerns to customer service, they did nothing to remedy the situation. I quickly canceled my membership after that. I am not comfortable being in an organization with exclusionary practices and the inability to receive feedback or take corrective action.

Robbery scheme
Once you sign up for albatross it’s almost impossible to downgrade. And if your payments stop going through they still don’t downgrade, and then they threaten you with a lawsuit if you don’t pay. Been through it and had to pay. They’re robbers! And I got absolutely zero value.
Super buggy
Nothing but bugs from the get-go. In-app membership upgrade didnt work - had to get tech support to fix manually. Adding places lived, it created duplicates but you can’t delete them (gives an error). Can’t add work places at all. And that’s just setup! Expecting more hilarity once I actually try to use the app for its intended purpose.

Rip off
Good idea BUT don’t get anything above the basic membership. Not worth it and you get sucked into the automatic annual renewal payment of 83$ without any warnings. If you want to join stay with free basic membership.
Buyer beware!
If you upgrade to Albatross, you’re stuck! There’s no button to downgrade back to Basic, you can’t delete your account unless you downgrade your membership, and it’s supposed to automatically renew at the end of the period you paid for. Their customer service just gives you the runaround, they keep sending you to Apple to fix membership billing issues, even though it’s InterNations’ app and they got the cash regardless of how it’s been paid (whether on iTunes or credit card). Don't upgrade your membership unless you want to be stuck in a loop you can’t get out of even if you want to delete your profile!
Questionable Business Practices
The tablet app is basically an iphone app that you can scale up - it shows a serious lack of effort. In addition, the company uses what many would consider a sketchy business model, where they automatically force you into a renewal even if you change your card. Once you have an outstanding "balance", you are physically blocked from cancelling your subscription until it is paid, meaning they bill you forever for services you can't unsubscribe from. You might not want to trust this company.
Clunky App
App is clunky and basic, not really good for social interaction. There’s virtually no security and recently there’s been a lot of fraudulent profiles. Maybe it a sign of an organization that’s outlived it’s usefulness and not just the App.
You cancelled all events yet I’m still paying
Internations have cancelled all events through May, yet they’re not offering people to suspend their memberships. My subscription also runs through the end of May, there are no events and I’m still paying for it. I have contacted the app and requested support more than a week ago and no one has reached out to me so far. This is terrible service and the app always has glitches.
Functions poorly
Please address the page to page functions. When messages are opened you can’t go back to the home page. Seems like a great idea for meeting people but in a techy age it’s clumsy.

It erases my messages as I’m writing them
If you multitask, like I do, it doesn’t let you switch to another app and then come back to it. When you come back, it starts up like it’s just been opened. Whatever you were doing is lost. Two stars, not one, because it’s great OTHER THAN THAT ONE THING. But seriously?!
Time of international events
I have singed up for some of the cyber events that are a great option for a pandemic period but also in the future we could be a great platform for global events. There is only an observation to those event, I wish the app was able to adjust the timing to your local time zone. Thank you though I can see great improvements lately . Keep up the great work
