I am English speaking and am currently visiting Paris France. I know a little French but thought it would be useful to set up this app for when I was here and got set up with the free trial. Every time I used it to help me figure out a word or phrase or talk to anyone it misunderstood every word. I can’t speak for any other language, but when it comes to French you’re better off using Duolingo or translate, or just asking the person if they speak your language.

Doesn’t work no matter language you choose

I have latest Apple Watch but this app does not work. Gives an error message “Something went wrong, Please try again” every time. I have deleted the app and reloaded it many times. I have changed the settings to other languages. It makes no difference, the watch app does not work. It seems to work okay on my iPhone 13, however. Tried another person’s voice and same results and non-helpful error message on watch.
My Apple Watch runs other translation apps, so not sure why this one fails to work! Amazed it got a positive Editor’s Choice Award since it is unusable as an Apple Watch app. I am glad I did not pay for a subscription fee yet for such a piece of trash that should have not been released if developers followed good QA practices.

Absolutely ridicules
This app is a waste of an times. It will translate what I say into something that doesn’t make any sense

Made me pay to find out it didn’t work. Wanted to find out what was being said around me …. And out of a whole statement it returned 1 word… tried this for less than 15 mins and could not get a refund for an item I can’t use

Tried using this in Germany with family and it did not work, mind you the children only speak German and the family is from GERMANY. Do better and send me my money back for $7.99. DANKE (thank you in German since it struggled to even do that).

I downloaded the app and now cannot remove it from my App Library by any means. I can remove it from the Home Screen but there is no option to DELETE the app

When I’m trying to use English in English and saying stuff it says, I can’t quite get that try again and this is literally crazy I Translate conversation. Can you please fix your app?
Does not work for Korean
Tried for about 20 mins to get this to work with Korean, it’s very bad at recognizing Korean speech, and the translations you get from English to Korean are very poor. They do not read or sound like conversational Korean. Seems to have no context of sentence meaning, just a single word for word translation. Some ancient words are used because of this. Seems like a much more intuitive design would be for the top half of the screen to translate from A language to B language and the bottom half to translate from B to A. Could help a ton with language recognition. It also makes no sense that you can speak and some words recognize from a language and some from B language. Doesn’t seem to contextualize that if 8 out of 10 words are English then those last two shouldn’t be Korean.
Can’t be used on Apple Watch
When use watch to say something to translate, it always says there’s something wrong, pls try later, it really gonna kill me!!!!!! PLS FIX THIS BUG(if it’s a bug)!!!!!!!!

I installed this on my watch. The only thing that knows how to do is to say something went wrong. Something went wrong. Something went wrong. Something went wrong.

The apple watch app is a piece of garbage. On every attempt to translate, it spins for a while and then says “Something went wrong. Try again later.”, but it never works correctly later, and never gives a more useful error message than “something”.

Doesn’t recognize any words in Italian, and if it finally recognizes the word simply repeats the word back to me instead of translating.

I read another user’s review and thought I would give it a try. I’m a paramedic so I need something fast and accurate to ensure the best and safest treatment for my patients. The user stated in her review that the app was only $5 a month….. maybe it was for her, but as of 06/22/2024, it’s $5 A WEEK. $20 a month?? No thank you!

Absolute rubbish. Doors not work unless they speak into phone very slowly. Which nobody does. It was about 35% right. So many much better products out there for this crazy price.

Not Working
Got a subscription, but when I went on a trip it stopped working. Did not recognize anything spoken. Deleted this app and cancelled my subscription since it failed when I needed it most. Using another app that works fine.

The appl doesn’t pickup what I say and translates something else. My mother in law only speaks Spanish and i only speak English and this appl works 10% of the time. I would not recommend spending the money on this expensive ineffective appl.

I downloaded the app to speak with a friend in Portuguese. It kept translating my English version wrong. Really!!! English. Do yourself a favor. This is not your app for translation. I’ll keep looking for a better one that understands English first.

ABSOLUTE RUBBISH APPS & SUPPORT
How this app was ever selected as an Editor’s Choice and is still showing that seal is beyond my comprehension. The concept, especially for the Apple watch is great. But, in actual usage all three apps…Converse, Voice and and iTranslate are absolute RUBBISH and $76.46 for -EACH- for a year subscription is an outrageous rip-off and shouldnt be allowed in the App Store. Before purchasing the subscription to the Converse app, I emailed the developer -TWICE- to find out if buying a subscription entitled me to use of all the products in the family such as Converse, iTranslate, and Voice but never received a response from the developer or anyone at this company. And when i tried to use my Converse subscription with iTranslate and Voice, I get error messages saying account not found, etc. and so can’t use them. The subscription is a rip-off because you’re billed for a entire year at $76.46 USD and if you cancel it, you still don’t get a refund for any remaining time you have on the subscription. I tried to use all three applications on a trip to Portugal, and they were absolutely worthless! The interfaces are confusing and clunky and there are no instructions to be foind for any of the apps anywhere. Don’t waste your time or money on any apps by this company!!! If anyone knows how I can file a complaint with Apple for a full refund, let me know. I have my emails to the company and a list a mile long of the bugs in these apps that I was going to share with the company developer.

Back to shady practices
Well, they went back to making new users agree to the 7-day free trial before using the app. Even though there’s a free version it won’t let you do that unless you agree to pay $70 after the trail ends. So you have to then opt out of the subscription before your get charged. This was a problem that many users complained about, so under pressure they changed this, but now it’s back to the way it was before. So there’s no excuse, it’s obvious that they just hope people forget that they’re being charged.
As far as the app, its records your speech and, after processing, plays back translated speech. This is something that the Apple Translate app already does for free.

Tricky
The logging into this is nearly impossible not to have to take the free trial 7 day/pay for Pro option. It is a poor design to force subscription. And the developers will respond to this review with the standard 1. just hit the non-existent X 2. Go to iTunes settings and click cancel if you're being charged as if it's entirely because the person is at fault. Shady business.

…Not fixed OR purposely deceptive??? A prior review complained about this & developer reply noted it fixed. Well, unless I’m blind, the only choices were a $69/mo PRO subscription or 7-day Free Trial (and the subscription charges would automatically kick in >7days).

Shady subscription practices
It’s pretty simple really. The website linked in the app description clearly states Japanese is supported offline. I paid for the subscription (monthly) and only after I paid did the app change to indicate Japanese is not supported offline.

It keeps saying that I have no internet connection when everything is completely fine on my end. Only worked for me properly one time.

I thought from reading other reviews that there was a basic version of this app that’s free, but there is not. There is a free trial and that’s it, then it’s $69 after a week
No copy function for texting
