Damaged luggage
I purchased a 5 piece luggage set from JCPenney in August last year. I used the luggage for three trips and two of the items have rips in them. I reached out to JCPenney and was told that I should contact the company. However, I tried several times to contact the company and the information for the company that JCPenney is giving out, is for a very unhappy company. The website for the company is not working for emails and I am at a loss. Luggage is something I use everyday, but I should get more than 3 uses. I will never purchase anything else from JCpenney, because I think they need to do more to help their customers or they should stop selling items that they can’t reach out to the manufacturers of said products.

Returns are a nightmare
I ordered a pair of jeans and didn’t like them our store closed at our mall so I asked for a return label that cost $8.00. Then I couldn’t print it off so called and the customer service gave me an address to use to send them back so went to the UPS store and they wanted $16.00 to print the label for the return by then I was totally upset finally the UPS store helped me to get the label and make the return. I have been a loyal customer since 1986 but I don’t think I will ever order anything else from JCPenney. Terrible experience

Today, 4/22/26, my son waited 40 minutes after checking in to curbside pickup. He had his 4 year old asleep in truck and couldn’t go in store. He tried calling store operator to get assistance, but no one answered. He finally called the salon, who transferred him to menswear and finally got hold of a manager. The purchase was finally brought out. If the store cannot be timely, they shouldn’t have curbside. I am a longtime customer of JCP and this is unacceptable!! Please address situation.

10K jewelry
I bought a 10K gold cross from the JCP in Joliet Illinois. I worn it for maybe less than a year, then it turned really dark. I brought it back to the JCP where I bought it and the manager told me that they don’t sell 10K jewelry so I leave the store and go on line. While scrolling through the jewelry section there is nothing but 10K jewelry that they are selling. Be careful all this jewelry is just plated junk.

Can’t remove old address
Ordered online recently and it was sent to an address that we haven’t lived in for 6 years. I called 3 years ago to have it removed because same thing happened. Can’t figure out how to remove old address. Called customer service and they can not help either. Frustrating that this app is defaulting to old address that I can’t seem to get rid of and if I’m not careful, I pay for items that I never receive.

Fishy
The last two times I’ve received a $15.00 off any purchase coupon mailed to my house I place my order ( it states my item is in stock). I go through the whole process of ordering and choose store pick up. 1 or 2 days later I get a email my order was canceled stating out of stock. Then I try to use the coupon again and it states coupon has already been used.

Ever since the company was bought out by catalyst it’s gone downhill
When I go on jcp.com and place an order, I don’t expect to have all of these sponsor spam advertisements after I hit submit for my order telling me that I’m eligible for these four offers which consist of eligible debt offers and Capital One shopping rewards and Shipments Free and Super+. When JCPenney was JCPenney, it was great but now that they’re owned by Catalyst, everything has gone downhill. Orders were shipped by UPS ground and now they are shipped by UPS Ground saver which switches over to the Postal Service, which makes a package take longer to get that yet they charged the same for shipping. JCPenney never should’ve allowed catalyst to buy them out.

Deserves NO stars
Their customer service team is the most unprofessional unreliable people I have ever encountered. I ordered a bed on February 17. I was told it would be free delivery, white glove delivery. That I will be contacted to set up a delivery date. These were their words exactly. Now, when I was contacted, they gave me the option of a Wednesday delivery date. Which unfortunately does not work for me. Because I work six days a week except Tuesday. When I asked for whatever Tuesday possible, I was informed by the delivery Company that they had to put in a request. Nothing else was said, and that I will be contacted about my delivery date. Once again. Whole two weeks went by and I kept on getting an email wanting me to set up a delivery day which was again Wednesday and then another Wednesday and then another Wednesday. After so beating several request. Requesting a Tuesday delivery. It didn’t matter how long I had to wait. Eventually almost at the month. I was informed that the delivery Company only services my area on Wednesday. So either I missed a day of work and took that delivery day. Or I canceled my order. After several different phone conversations, this was basically their solutions to the problem. And I received several emails stating that because I failed to respond….. which I responded every single time, that my order was going to be canceled. I tried calling one last time, and they told me that when I bought the bed, I should’ve been informed of the delivery options. Meaning only one delivery day because they don’t have any control of the third-party Company that makes her deliveries. Someone told somebody that either I canceled or I took it. So when I asked, so, basically the delivery Company is not to accommodate the customers, the customers YOUR CUSTOMERS HAVE TO ACCOMMODATE THE DELIVERY COMPANY? She’ll be around the bush to avoid answering that question.
Long story short. I have no bed., I’ve been a loyal customer for 14
Years. And that means absolutely nothing to them. I even offered to pay for my own delivery. So do not Repeat. Do not buy any furniture From JCPenney. Unless you can work around the schedule provided by the Company. Because once again, it’s not about your needs. It’s about JCPenney needs.
They do not deserve no stars and I will be closing my account as soon as the money is credit back.

Online orders never work
I’ve tried so many times to place an order online and every time I get an error about my payment method. I’ve tried several different payment methods that I know I have funds on and still an error. I spoke with customer service and they said that’s an issue with the browser, but I’ve tried on my phone on the app on the website on my computer and same thing.

JCP is the biggest rip off when it comes to charging you interest on their card. Currently at 33.24% APR will apply! buyer beware! Credit purchases & payment
Anyone else experiencing JC Penny ( thru Synchrony) problems with them holding payments until a late fee is accrued? My last two payments were late although my bank estimated the payments to arrive 4 days after I made the payment. When I call and tell them when the payment was made, they just coincidentally received the payment that day, 10 days after it was made. Meanwhile a late charge was accrued. They did forgive the first late payment but not the second which I guess that is understandable. But in this day & age, how can an electronic payment take 10 days to get to the creditor?

Scanning
What is the point of the barcode scan feature if you can’t clip or go to the sale page of the item that you just scanned?? All it does it give you the name of the item and put it in the “scan list” which is virtually useless because you can t access on any other part of the app or even add it to your cart.

Bad service from JCPenney
I went to JCPenney today at 10 o'clock. There were two associates there. Neither of them was friendly; they didn't even look at me, as if we were bothering them. I wanted to return some pants, and they told me no, that I had to get them back without a receipt. I asked why, because the return window had closed. I had my receipt; everything was fine with the pants. She told me no, that I should give her my driver's license, and she would only give me back $12. I told her no. I can't believe they treat you so badly. It's like you're asking them for something, like you're bothering them. I'm never going back to JCPenney, and I'm going to tear up my JCPenney credit card. It’s not the first time that happen I believe the workers are not happy they’re so rude

Taking customers money for your profit
I ordered a package and you sent it to the wrong address and now you want me to pay for something that I didn’t receive and there’s no way of getting it back. Post office blame JCPenney and JCPenney blame post office but in reality there was no help for me my money was just gone. My billing address and my mailing address is the same and JCPenney has it on file but somehow they sent it to. The wrong address in a different state so they said I still had to pay for something that I’m not getting what is this world coming to everybody out to take each other’s money and make profit but the customer in the end always lose why should I have to pay for something that I’ve never received? There’s been no way to sign in, no way to change my password even after I call for assistance. (The call center doesn’t follow through for a reset email and are useless.)This app constantly gives me oops, glitch errors. So I try via website through my phone to no avail, and again on desktop to again not be able to buy anything. I think JC Penney’s doesn’t want money. I love the clothes on this app but when I finally find something worth buying it is out of stock. I don’t mind it being out of stock but what bothers me is that when I click on the item it saying that the size is in stock but when I try to add it into my cart it is actually out of stock. I’ve been a Penny’s shopper for literally decades! I just want to say the prices are amazing, but whoever is doing the buying needs to be replaced. The coats with ties in the front look like robes and the clothes are unattractive. I’ve never complained before, but please put someone in this position that understands colors and style.

Unable to Cancel Online Orders
When you place an order, it allows you the option to cancel an order within 30-minutes of placing the order. Once I placed the order, then changed my mind FIVE minutes later, the option suddenly DISAPPEARED! Broken system JC Penney needs to FIX!!!! Refuse to stand behind their product!
My college daughter ordered her sis a tennis bracelet on 11/5 delivered 11/13.
The gift was given on Christmas Eve and worn for nine days and it snapped in half. She took it in for exchange and it was on the sixtieth day and they refused. According to their own policy they should have exchanged it. They even had gray area because they even said it was delivered the 13th which gave more time in the return window. All she wanted was an exchange… shame on you Penny’s!
