I just bought a bike pass but cannot use it because every time I open the bike map, the app locks up.

I always used taxis, and everything was fine until an old guy charged me extra, on top of what the app showed. He charged me twice, and I got so angry because he started saying it was a long way, etc., which it really wasn't; it was only a 10-minute bus ride. But since I'd missed it, I decided to take a taxi. They have no consideration for foreigners; they just kept ripping me off with this app. And while not all the drivers are like that, they're all degenerates, charging extra on top of what the app shows.

BEWARE OF SCAMMERS
My friends and myself have used the app, and the drivers always figure out a way to scam you out of so much money.
Only giving this a 1 Star review to spread awareness.
For my experience, a $40 taxi fare has turned into a $200 taxi fare.

Horrible user experience
1. App enables racism.
If your system or app language is set to English, taxi drivers see your destination address in English, and they skip you on purpose because they fear that you’re a foreigner.
2. Popups and ads.
Every time the app opens there’s a stupid popup AD that has nothing of relevance to the user.
3. Speed and Performance
The app is laggy and slow and bugs out regularly on my newest iPhone 17 Pro. I also have to wait an unnecessary amount of time between menu actions, making the app extremely frustrating to use, especially when I’m trying to return my Kakao bike rental, or call a taxi.
4. Predatory interface
The app attempts to force you into using Kakao’s payment systems. There is no option to set the “default” payment method to “pay taxi driver directly”, and the option itself is hidden at the very end of the payment options, and you have to scroll all the way to select it every single time you hire a cab.

Taxi Cancels to Quick
If Taxi cannot find you, they give up to easy. The taxi driver could not find my house after sending him my address twice and then he blew me off. It was raining and I was left stranded to find a way to the airport.

택시를 바쁠때 타는데 허구헌날 광고 창 끄느라 시간 허비함. 그리고 결제수단 카드번호 왜 카카오 혼자 앞번호표기임? 뒷번호 표기로 좀 바꿔주세요. 바쁘니까 점유율 높아서 어쩔 수 없이 쓰긴 하는데 ui/ux 다 뒤집어야 한다고 생각합니다.

위치만 찍고 바로 콜부르기 하지말고 경로선택 눌러서 살펴보세요. 몇달을 다른 네비앱 보면서 확인했는데 더 돌아가는 길 아니면 비슷해도 막히는 길을 골라주네요. 아는곳 귀찮아서 택시 몇번 탔다가 이상해서 찾아보기 시작했는데 안 막히는 노선 냅두고 막히는 길 띄워주는 건 해도해도 너무한다 싶습니다.

And when my family arrived to the airport with the one who took the carry ons he didn’t even help them with carrying the bags and he dropped them somewhere far of our flight gate while they were trying to tell him to drop them there he ignored them.

I have been here for 2 weeks and let me tell you, the apps are GARBAGE! They are the least intuitive, nonsensical, most ridiculous things I’ve ever seen! Kakao doesn’t recognize a single address EVER!! You can copy and paste the exact address in English or Korean and view the location from Google maps, and Kakao will act like it has no idea what you’re talking about. So be prepared to spend your time on a different map (like Google) and setting every location you’re trying to get to from the Kakao map view cause it’s never seen an address in its life. Also, would you like to book a car ahead of time? JOKES ON YOU! If you set the ride for “tomorrow at 9:30”, chose the option you want, and hit request, be prepared for cars to head towards you IMMEDIATELY and you having to cancel. When you cancel, it will still show your original request of booking for the next day, but by actually hitting request, you’re getting a car immediately! WHY HAVE A BOOK AHEAD OPTION IF YOU DONT ACTUALLY OFFER IT!? I live in THAILAND in an area much less developed in Seoul Korea, and let me tell you that I’ve never had to deal with the idiocy of app use that I’ve had to deal with here. Side note, the app also crashes all the time and drivers clearly don’t get info about where you’re standing for pickup as I’ve been left or had to run to other areas to catch the cars. Also be sure to screenshot the price of your ride because the second your ride is accepted, the price vanishes leaving you and your driver in a language barrier predicament. So fun!

Terrible app
Extremely difficult to make an account, uses two different apps and the process is not only inefficient but incredibly useless. Genuinely don’t understand how this app is rated so highly, its very poorly designed.
Reservations broken when phone language is English
The reservation feature doesn’t work correctly when the phone language is set to English. All of the buttons and text just appear as “Later” and many of the buttons do not function (do nothing when tapped). If English is not supported, it would be better to show Korean rather than break in this way. Before the last update it worked just fine. Now, it’s impossible to know which button is “cancel” unless you remember from the old version of the app. For a company the size if Kakao, this is a major quality assurance failure! I use KakaoT often and spend a lot if money in the app… please fix this!

더 이상 서울시내에서 택시는 손님을 찾으러 다니지 않는다.이 앱을 통하여 일반 택시도 콜택시로 사용이 가능하기 때문이다. 좋은 점이 많지만 앱에 사용이 그렇게 간단하지 않다. 카카오는 이 앱에 자신들이 할 수 있는 모든 것을 집어 넣었다. 잘 보이지 않는 시니어들은 작은 핸드폰 화면 속에서 조악한 UI를 통하여 최악의 UX 를 경험한후 사용을 포기한다. 길거리에서 지나가는 택시를 잡기 위해 고군분투 하지만 헛된 희망일 뿐이다. 시니어들은 왜 갑자기 모든 일반 택시가 사라졌는지 알지 못한다.
카카오티 주차는 주차시설과의 소통도 제대로 안되면서 서비스 중인 것 같습니다..

I cannot stress how terrible this app is.
Setting up an account is ridiculously long and complex - and you have to effectively do the process twice because they require you to use to separate apps to even get a taxi. I’m already on hour two of trying to set it up without success.
Incredibly frustrating user experience
As an American visiting Korea, it is impossible for me to create an account. No matter what email address I try to use it always says “suspicious activity detected” and it kicks me out every time.
I’m using a local eSIM so I can’t use my American phone number either, I don’t have phone service, just data.

Can't register US number
Can't register with a US phone number because the app doesn't accept a 10 digit number. Also, the app requires that you install Kakaotalk to add payment information. I don't want to install 2 apps to use 1 app

Not dependable
Every now and then the app just will not call any taxis, even at normal business hours with taxis on the road. There is a bug with calling out to taxis. The system seems to go down, as several people in our group all lost the ability to call cars at the same time.

I downloaded the app to use when I visit Seoul in January. The sign-up required I download and set-up Talk. Talk required a resident ID number and local phone carrier/number. Can’t complete the set-up for either app without it.
Terrible UX design
So a taxi can take your reservation. And then if the driver decides to cancel… he will call you and ask YOU to cancel (which brings your passenger rating down.) If you refuse to cancel… the driver can choose to cancel and bring down his own rating or he can decide to just charge you and let you deal with the hassle of applying for refund. For foreigners- they will be screwed since drivers know how difficult getting a refund for foreigners is.
Expect to have some terrible experiences due to this app and how it allows for bad behaviour.

Ridiculously futile and inefficient app
There is no way the taxi doesn’t stop when they see people who are willing to pay for the service. Instead it seems like majority of drivers are adapted to a reserving system, which I think it’d be good when there’s no feature where drivers can reject the request of customers. These drivers reject the request if they can’t make a good portion of money due to a short distance between the pickup location and the destination. How is it even possible for me to say this app works when I waited for almost two hours and a half just waiting for a driver to accept my request. Literally so useless.
Address formatting issues with US version of the app
Korea changed their address format some years ago and the locations on this app follow the old format.
Searching for addresses was a nightmare so I literally had to look up the location on Naver Map and then drag and zoom on the map to the place I wanted to go.
Also, there are no payment options for anything but Korean credit cards. You can pay taxis directly but I think this reduced the number of taxis we could pool from.
This being tied to your KaKaoTalk app login is also very annoying since you can only have one login session. I had a second phone for a Korean SIM and I couldn’t login on that phone so I had to use it as a hotspot to use KaKao services.

Fair and objective review
Kakao app is a monopoly that has grown fat and inefficient to the extent is doesn’t care about it’s consumer and only cares about it’s share price and profit numbers. They collect so much personal information and share it with the Korean socialist government. This is not a good platform.

Very frustrating experience
Don’t expect to call a taxi on rush hour with this. Taxi drivers are free to ignore request without limit unlike uber. Just put a temporary ban on drivers who ignore more three times or something, I don’t see why can’t they just implement such a simple thing.

Everything about this app is illogical + so many bugs
taxi union is king
It's ridiculous that you can't use the app for a week after canceling taxis that are too far from where you are. bow down to the taxi union i guess.
