I’ve been using Kasa for smart lights for quite a while, but I don’t think I’ll ever be using this product again. I’ve found that even turning the lights on and off has become incredibly inconsistent, to the point where I’ve resorted to using light switches.
Furthermore, they’ve started broadcasting ads in their app - which supports products that were already paid for. The level of greed is astounding, especially when their infrastructure can’t even support consistent usability.

Subscription needed
I didn’t realize you need a subscription to have this. We haven’t even used this camera because of that and now I just realized i’ve been getting charged for a subscription for months now from Kasa. It comes up as Apple so I thought it was something else. I contacted Apple and they said it’s this app.
Kasa camera app is complete garbage
It is barely functional. The controls are atrociously bad. I tilt it to the left, it goes right. Basic things are not working.
Never works
Had these bulbs and app going on 6+ years. The lights never turn off on the first attempt, I’m always having to force close the app and then retry. Extremely frustrating app to say the least. Alexa controls the lights well but the app itself is trash 🚮
IMPOSSIBLE to fine tune cameras
Up means down. Left means right. Small adjustments do nothing. Medium adjustments are too much. THE MOST FRUSTRATING APP BAR NONE. Yes, Kasa app with Kasa cameras. “Make do” is as good as this thing gets.
Impossible to get the widgets working
Don’t understand why this app developer made it so complicated to enable items/scenes on the Widgets. It’s painfully impossible.
Constantly buggy bulbs
The app is the problem not the technology. Everytime I open it there’s a 50% chance the bulbs show as off when they’re on and vise versa. The buttons constantly refresh and show the wrong state. Or flicker. It’s been this was for years.

Now able to actually scroll my 24/7 videos on my sd card zero to no lag. Keep this .. this is what I was asking for.
However it no longer notifies me of person or motion detection and no longer shows it in the reel … no purple or green…
Overall just being able to scroll with no lag on the 24/7 video is a God send
Update on May 2026: still no notifications or letting me know of notifications I have asked it to notify me on …. This is still an issue in 2026 and going to 24/7 recording first highlight for me person detection or motion detection

Terrible App
This app sucks so bad. The lag is terrible and my wifi connection is perfect. The camera misses events and when you try to view an event in the app, it doesn’t play!
videos don’t play
the app works fine but it only lets me watch ONE video. after that, if i try to play another clip it will just keep loading and loading. the only thing that works is restarting the app for every single video. i’ve updated it, logged out, resynced to wifi…nothing helps

Cameras detect and alert for things well outside of the clearly defined ‘zones’, blowing up my phone at all hours for absolutely no reason. Terrible.
Only get to see every 5 mins
App works great and I like it but when I want to look at a specific time I can’t and can only look every 5 minutes unless the activity was tracked but on an android phone you can look every second, your not limited to have to look every 5 minutes which is super annoying because I don’t want to wait every 5 minutes to see something I’m looking for. I hate that apps do certain things or limit for android users and iOS users why not just make the app the same for both users instead of making one better than the other.
Keeps freezing when syncing device
App keeps freezing as I’m trying to connect the device to WiFi.
