And not a cheap one either, a $150 purchase. For a feature I already had a set plan on. So, I do not recommend, especially if you’re trying to find a free alternative to quizlet.

This app is completely dishonest. It is not a helpful tool for studying. The company is completely shady. They will get your payment information and start charging you $20 a week. There is no way to contact anyone about what happened or how to get it fixed. Just do not use it.

Slow and Ad Heavy
Last year my state banned any apps that sell your information in schools. Due to this I lost access to my favorite study site for my French class. This is the site it was replaced with. Knowt is horrible I would never recommend it to anyone the continuous ads that disrupt learning is aggravating and such a huge turn away for this site. Although I understand they make most of their money this way it’s not just that I have an issue with; the speed of the site is horrendous I have never had such an issue loading a flashcard set in my life once again disrupting study flow. Not to mention in the learn section which I use a lot to practice spelling it continuously jumps multiple cards ahead in the middle of typing. Do not waste your time with this site it is poorly put together and actually one of the most frustrating sites I’ve ever had to work with. You’d be better off doing everything by hand.

Plus, the features didn’t help that much because the question bank kept repeating same type of concept even though I chose to review all units. I’m not satisfied with the money they took away from my account as well as the quality. The customer service is also bad when I informed them about the issue. They told me that I had purchased it in April (which is not true because I purchased it on May 11), so it’s explanatory that $150 was withdrawn. I tried to explain it to them, but they seemed to ignore my issue and never replied back up to now.

On social media right now, this app is advertised as a free and effective way to study for your exams with unlimited tools. It is not unlimited. The questions are also way easier than how they will be on the exam so you shouldn’t really be using this to study for the MCQs. I don’t know what’s the point of advertising yourself as a free study tool when you have to pay for more AI slop.
Helpful but what is going on?
I purchased the weekly subscription for Knowt for $10.61, and it was supposed to last a full week. I canceled it only so it wouldn’t auto-renew, but now I’ve lost access after just a couple of days and it’s asking me to purchase again. Are they trying to scam me, I am just a student and trying to suffer from AP test.

It keeps updating and breaking. Very buggy. I spent $95 and as soon as final exams come up, it stops working 🥲 already contacted support and they “fix” it but can’t upload anything.
App was good idea but poorly executed
The app is good for studying but the paid features are out of hand. I originally got the app due to the unlimited study features it advertised compared to Quizlet but I can only do like 3 practice runs for AP tests before it tried to get me to pay. Additionally it has integrated way too many ai slop features. It had great promise when it first launched but they ruined it with the excessive push for users to pay to use the app and the ai use.

This is so buns now idk what happened. Every questions is just ai slop, no real sources, horrible ai generated stimulus aswell.
Flashcard problems
Though this app is free to study flashcards everytime i make my flashcards manually and save them, half of my definitions will disapear and its so frusturating. The phots dont save either its like playing a lucky game maybe theyll save maybe they wont.

New update makes it impossible to work
I’ve just spent an hour trying to figure out how to make a flash card set because of the new update and I still can’t figure it out. If you want to upload a picture it has to go through your files which takes a super long time to load. What happened Knowt you guys used to be so good!

Knowt what happened to free features for students worldwide?? I was using the ap practice features and it was working great until a second ago and now they’re all locked behind a paywall. I can’t do any of my ap practices that used to be free because of this. I’ve been relying on knowt all through my high school years and it used to be genuinely good…
Absolutely worthless
Not only does this app grossly over-use AI to function, the questions it generates are so straightforward and basic that they won't help you study for any actual exam. Some questions try to mimic historical cartoons, but it's painfully obvious that the images are AI and they are either hard to understand or completely nonsensical. The AI also makes the app very slow, which is very ironic since it's supposed to "speed up" the studying process. Download quizlet, not this slop
Great when it works, devastating when it doesn’t
Twice now, on 2 separate flashcard sets, Knowt’s auto-save feature failed to work and deleted hours of work. The AI support bot can’t help restore the lost flashcards so I have to wait hours for a human agent to respond and restore them. I edit only on my iPad and don’t understand why this happens. I like Knowt’s UI much more than other flashcard apps but this unreliability is extremely frustrating and I will be switching to something else because I can’t keep wasting my time on an app I can’t trust.

Id give this app a 0 if I could Ive spent HOURS making flashcards for the apo to delete them ALL. Horrible app. I could not recommend less.

Kept charging me and bad customer service
I got a free subscription from my friend. It was a gifted Ulta which is FREE. I got charged $119 on my card and I was so confused. Like why is this happening? Then I texted the stupid AI and they didn’t even give me good advice! They told me the $119 transaction was just an ‘authorization attempt’. HELLLOO?? WHY WOULD THEY CHARGE ME SO MUCH MONEY FOR AN AUTHORIZATION ATTEMPT?? And do NOT do a subscription on safari because it will not work and all the customer service will say is ‘cancel it through the app’ ‘cancel it through the app store’. LIKE I CANT BECAUE IT WAS PURCHASED ON SAFARI. GIVEME MY MONEY BACK

i got this to study for my AP HG exam and after a day it wanted me to pay like $10 a month! so expensive! for what! DO NOT GET THIS APP IF YOU DONT HAVE MONEY!!!! 🤑🤑🤑
AI features just make it less effective
A ton of random features that don’t help at all, in theory a useful study tool but in practice you’ll only remember surface knowledge. Your better off using online videos, practice tests, and something like quizlet or ChatGPT
Wish it worked
This app would be really cool and useful if it actually worked. I can see how this would help with studying but I always have issues with my app and can almost never use it. Eveytime I open the app it acts as I don’t have a subscription, but I do… 12.99 a month and just for it to not work. The call Kai doesn’t always work either no matter what buttons I press

Overpriced and underdeveloped
I’ve been using this app for two weeks and while it has been great for the first couple of days I’ve run into a few issues as I’ve used it such as the text boxes in the mock exams not writing properly. I’ve troubleshooted across many devices and have had the same problem. And btw if you are taking an exam do not exit out of it or else it will not save your progress. I had to find out the hard way whenever I couldn’t submit my exam and was told to refresh the app come to find out that it completely destroyed all of my progress and didn’t give me a grade at all. 2 hours flushed down the drain. The questions became repetitive and I would love to see some more stimulus on the questions such as graphs or tables.
Not good enough
If you’re studying for an AP exam this is basically useless. The questions are too straightforward and basic to actually learn anything. For the FRQ section when you try to type it is heavily bugged and barely functions. If you type over 5 words per minute it glitches and barely functions. You need to combine this with other sources. This is not adequate enough to get a five on your AP exam.
Not working
Love this app, helped me with my studies but lately I am not able to upload my notes and if I do it’s very blurry and now I’m not able to uploaded anything. Mind you I paid for a whole year of subscription
Fix the lags, random freezing, or when my data from call with Kai doesn’t even save.
I love the app… however the only reason why I use it for the call with Kai feature. The feature is good at first but then it lags soooo bad and it’s so annoying. It’s the only reason why I won’t pay for the full subscription or why i whined up cancelling and not even using the app. Fix the Ai “Call with Kai” feature and this app will be golden.
Great Until it Wasnt
I was using the mcqs feature, until an error cane up saying it wasn't available. A few days later, it kept the mcqs behind a paywall. I went to customer support, which was unhelpful and did not solve any of the problems (because I thought mcq practice was supposed to be free?) Even if I were to buy a subscription, Fiveable would be cheaper by at least $30 which I already have. I only used knowt for the mcqs, but now that that's gone I have no reason to use the app or website.
Latest update
Due to the latest update the text box does not fit anymore. Half of the flashcards answers dont show because the textbox has been shortened. Its become bigger but its cut off as if the text was.

New Update Terrible for Educators
Originally the app was great and it was wonderful that it was free, but this new update prevents educators from using the app. Literally, I can’t even log in or access anything on the app anymore because I have an educator account. Apparently, educators should only be able to access their accounts from the internet. But what’s the point of having the app in the first place then?? Deleted.
Not Free
As soon as you sign up and rate they try and push a paid version. Kownt is pushy about it - I don't even get to use the app before presented with payment plans. Let me use the app first, like it, and if I determine I need the paywall features then I'll cough up money. However, this is getting 2 stars because Knowt advertised itself as a free Quizlet and there's expensive subscription plans in the app.
Crashes during recordings
It crashes too much especially during a lecture audio recording!! Lost the audio
Does not support Goodnotes or Notability
As both a Goodnotes and Notability user, I was using this app to recorded my lectures and note take for me. I would try translating these notes to Goodnotes and notability. There would be errors whenever I’d download the pdf version and upload it to either app. I’d try copy and pasting the lecture notes into both apps, but the formatting would NOT translate so I’d have to reformat them. If you’re trying to be efficient with your time by using this app and trying to move it over to using Goodnotes or notability, this app is not for you. I also tried to get a refund when it automatically renewed - BE WARNED >>>> they do not give refunds as much as you try to request a refund from Apple. I tried emailing their support team and hopefully they are willing and considerate to refund me or take this review as feedback to improve their services and app.
