A Disappointing Customer Experience with Korean Air
Disappointed with my recent experience with Korean Air’s lounge promotion.
When I attempted to redeem the advertised lounge voucher, I received an error stating that no coupons were available. Instead of receiving a clear explanation right away, I spent days following up with customer service and waiting for responses from different departments.
Only later was I informed that the promotion had ended early because all allocated coupons had already been distributed and that no manual voucher or goodwill gesture would be provided.
I understand that promotions can be changed or ended based on their terms. However, what I find disappointing is the lack of transparency and the time wasted due to inconsistent communication. If the lounge vouchers had already been exhausted, customers should have been informed immediately so they could make informed decisions when choosing an airline or considering other available options.
As a long-time customer, I expected better communication and a more customer-focused resolution. I hope Korean Air improves the way it handles promotions and communicates changes to its customers.

Difficult to get in touch with
Why do I have to keep contacting them for the same thing? The associates promised to do something but I have to keep contacting them via chat again and have to repeat the whole conversation again from the previous associate. This is as frustrating as dealing with Amazon customer service.
Detaining consigned goods belonging to customers
My two packages went through the inspection machine without making any noise, but the customs officers deliberately pulled my packages aside and made things difficult for me.
I was told my gel nail polish bottle wasn't allowed in checked baggage, even though my mother brought it with her and it was fine. When I checked Korean Air's information today, they said it was allowed. I'm very upset with the staff there, so I'm giving a 1-star rating because of the two Vietnamese customs officers.

Nearly Impossible to Add Code Share Purchases to App
For such a good airline, it is shocking how difficult this app makes it to add a flight you purchased through a code share. I fly frequently on Korean, and can almost never summon my flights using the ticket number and confirmation codes provided on booking.

“Product shipped within Korea only”. This is ridiculous. I live in America BUT product shipped within korea only. Unbelievable!

Why I’m obligated to select a seat in order to complete check in online on the app? And all the free seats are occupied and I have to choose a seat that requires paying extra!

I do not appreciate having an app try and force access to my contacts. I will print my freaking boarding passes out and not deal with this app under these conditions. Stop forcing people to give you information in order to use your stupid apps.

App crashes after a few seconds on iPhone 16 Pro using iOS 18.1.
Does not work, cannot check in
The app does not allow you to check in for flights operated by Korean Air that were booked as a codeshare on a partner airline (Delta). The app does not recognize the code share partner booking code even though the Korean Air website does (but their website is improperly formatted so that you cannot complete checkin on a mobile device since you can’t scroll to the bottom of the page to tap “I agree” where required).
App has bugs
Doesnt render pages on iPhone SE (3rd gen) to enable check in. Cant agree to hazmat page. Also cant put boarding pass in wallet routinely on this model or iPhone 13. Very frustrating when on the road trying to check in. Also if you booked through Delta you get notified to check in but delta kicks you over to KAL, cant check in with delta app. Tedious pass through with no added value.
The WORST app on this planet
No functions work in this app. It isn’t even able to pull up my flight information. This is ridiculous to a point that it’s almost like a joke. Plus it will never give you the chance to live chat with an agent because “all agents are busy”. I don’t even know if there is any way I can check in online. This whole app is probably developed by a bunch of idiots.

I can open the app but I cannot book since after inputting all info, it does not load anything at all. It has been going on for more than a week now

I keep tapping confirm, it’ll load for a couple of seconds, and nothing happens. I end up in the same place. Totally useless

Boarding pass disappeared from front screen
Once we checked in to board at the front, we headed into the airplane. The boarding passes disappeared from the main screen but alas, the staff needed to scan boarding passes one more time right in front of the plane and we could not enter because according to the app we had checked in. We were stopped and could not enter the vessel. The staff had to return to the front and print out physical copies. This UX defeated the whole purpose of the app so much so that it needed a physical copy printed. Terrible unnecessary stress.

Terrible. It’s asking for my Korean last name. Ummm I’m not a Korean national. So they could’ve move forward with my ticket that’s already purchased.
Can’t register my ticket (operated by Korean Air)
I purchased a ticket from Expedia. Both Delta and Korean Air were available, but only a delta flight matched flight time I want. I try to open a boarding pass from Delta app. But it just had a link to Korean Air website since the plane is actually a Korean Air. I can see a boarding pass with a ticket number from the forwarded link. But I couldn’t register that information on Korean Air app.

The app provides zero value, the airlines still depends on printing boarding passes and will not honor the QR code provided.
Can’t select flight
It showed me a list of flights and cost. You have to select your choice but there is no way to select any. I tapped everywhere. Only was good to see the prices but was not able to book.

This is a pathetic app. You literally can't select a flight when trying to book a flight, there's no way.
Worst airline app I have seen
I fly a lot and must have dozens of airline apps. This one is the worst by far. Logging in is almost impossible. It doesn’t let me change seats. I prompts me to log in again and again. It doesn’t link my trips to my skypass account. I worry that if a company cannot develop an app they can not operate aircraft safely.

Why is this app force to share location, permission to access camera and so on? It says optional but there is no way to proceed to use app without allowing those permissions. This is no basic understanding for user experience and data access at all by this app developers!

The design of icon reminds me of 5-6 years ago not in a good way. Definitely not up to the current design language.
UI and functionality are gotten worse. It is amazing that how on the earth you can make it worse than already terrible previous app.

Downgraded
I don’t understand why we had to download a new app instead of update. Here are my problems:
1. I cannot open the app without giving permission to use my location, contacts, and a million things I cannot say no to. “Confirm” is the only way to go forward.
2. They got rid of the tabled dates and ticket prices in booking, which was super convenient. Now I need to click on the arrows next to the date and wait for the new price to load every time, which takes a long time EVERY TIME.
3. I can’t find the flexible dates option in search. +1, +2, +3 was a genius idea and should be back.
4. The price is very deceiving. In the previous app, the price for a round trip was shown in a table format, showing you which date has the lowest fare. In the new app, each flight has its own price. I ended up with a total of twice the price I thought it was.
I deleted the new app at this point and cannot write any more review on it. The worst of it is that I cannot use the old version any more. I hated the new app so much I went to their webpage to book. Alas, they “upgraded” their webpage too.

Horrible transition to new app
Downloaded the new app and couldn't login because "No match for user ID". Tried everything (skypass number, social login, and user id) and it kept saying no match for that account. Finally called in and found out they reset my password without even telling me. Past trips are all gone. This app feels like a UI design upgrade and UX functionality downgrade.

It took a very long time to get to Family Mileage status info !! Too many things are hidden to be chased,
Data didn’t transfer all!
All my family member were linked to my sky pass, now it’s disappeared. If looks like I have to register them again. Why making downloading the new app instead of updating the current app. Frustrating.

I downloaded this app because the old app Korean Air app is not working and showing message to download this new app. But this app is not responding after first time appear and closed out automatically on my mobile running with iOS ver 14.3. Developer need to be reviewed for upgrading the version for working condition. Thanks!
