Pessima, imbarazzante
Vivo in US e provo stupore e imbarazzo per il livello della app che dopo anni e anni e annunci di aggiornamenti resta piena di bug, ironico perché l’ultimo nonostante l’aggiornamento è proprio l’impossibilità di abbonarsi…come si dice self-sabotage.
App dies not recognize I’ve subsctibed
Twice, I have paid for a full subscription and the app fails to recognize that snd give me full access, even after re-installing.
Subscription doesn’t work and no assistance
I am paying a weekly subscription but this App shows my profile has no valid subscription. As such, I have no access to premium content. This problem has occurred quite often in the past year, and it was possible to workaround it by logging in and out from the user profile. Unfortunately with last App update the problem is persistent. I opened a support ticket, but the assistance team has only responded with some generic and useless instructions.
I asked a refund of the weekly subscription until the problem is solved and their answer was that I should ask Apple a refund…… my recommendation is to stay away from this Italian newspaper and look at alternatives like Corriere

Login is frequently forgotten and I have to input in again. You can actually see that the application struggles every time you open “subscribers only” content before realizing that I am logged in. This generates a very poor user experience (videos are the worst).
I installed the New York Times two iPads ago and I never had to input twice my credentials in 4 years or so.
I opened a ticket with Gedi to complain about the login issues and was told to generically clear my browser cookies..useless
I cancelled my PayPal recurring payment to ensure this crap does not get renewed. If you want a better experience you will have to use your pc with antipaywall plug-ins: it’s not legit but that is what you get when you deliver so poorly and charge so much.
Repubblica’s developers still think they are in the 90”s: paradigms and UIs /UXs have improved significantly and obviously their vision/skillset are not up to the task.

Praticamente una truffa
Contenuti che non si aprono nonostante abbonamento pagato, login che non funziona e impossibile disdire abbonamento (pec o telefonata? Seriamente? Vivo all’estero e non ho modo di fare ne l’una ne l’altra).
Pessima
Lenta nel passare da una pagina all’altra, frequenti crash e una intollerabile quantità di pubblicità irritante. Poi non si capisce perché quando si riapre la app non si riprenda a leggere dove si è lasciato. Pressreader funziona meglio, perché non la copiate?
Non funziona ma chi l’ha progettata?
Non riconosce gli abbonamenti e il modulo per reclamare non funziona … non ho parole voglio indietro i miei soldi dell’abbonamento!!!

Pessimo update, lento, instabile. Impossibile ora leggere off-line - ma La Repubbica non sa che molte persone non hanno accesso online costante? Rimpiango la versione precedente di Repubblica on line.

Sad use of iOS capabilities
This app is so disappointing. It is not easy to navigate, has recurring pop-up ads, and, most importantly, has absolutely no sharing functions. In general, I'm used to being able to send articles to email, Twitter and FB (at least), but here this is just impossible. I'd rather read Repubblica on the web instead.
Very annoying pop up ads
You would think that paying for a subscription would exempt you from popup ads, but no, you get them anyway. I don't mind the regular ads, like in the daily newspaper (I actually like them!) but the popups are intolerable. I suspended my subscription. For those who need help, you cancel your subscription on an iPad by pushing the subscription manage button on your iTunes profile (you get to it by scrolling to the bottom of, say, the music page and pushing the button with you apple id). You then flip a switch to suspend the subscription. You still have the option to resubscribe (unless you remove the repubblica app.) I will not subscribe again if the popups don't go away.
Wort app for newspaper
One time in two when downloading last 4/5 pages are missing and there is no way retrieve them afterwards.
Also worst customer service ever: I wrote to them twice about this and they never even replied!

20 euro/month subscription + fullscreen adverts for the iPad + adverts that you get in the PDF of the paper. Too much!
Terribilmente lenta
Idea buona ma applicazione inutile. Anche con una connessione di 3-4 Mb impiega svariati minuti a caricare una pagina. E ora richiedono anche un pagamento di 20€ al mese per un applicazione praticamente inutilizzabile

I gave version 1 only two stars. Ver. 1.1 improves the reading experience considerably. Still slow download, but once it is done navigation is faster. Tapping once on an article presents a floating windows with the text more readable. Occasional (but rare) crashes. Ads a little annoying but not too much. Overall it is useable. I have been reading the "newspaper" for over an hour with great pleasure. Now I hope the the cost of the subscription will not be too high.

Con il nuovo aggiornamento 1.1 non funziona piu'
Prima la 1.0 era di una lentezza esasperante, da fare paura, la navigazione aveva anche molti problemi. Pagine che si muovono da sole, zoomingin e zoomingout senza perche'.

Vergogna vergogna vergogna! La prima applicazione italiana per iPad che ci fa scomparire davanti al mondo intero! Ma possibile che in Italia si debba essere la fiera dell'incompetenza? Inutilizzabile, non c'e' alcun messaggio di stato che indichi cosa diavolo stia succedendo e perche' non appaia niente!

L'iPad va spessissimo in crash, lento a caricare le pagine e a fare il refresh degli ingrandimenti.
Dal punto di vista editoriale, e' un peccato non avere i video, anche se sono citati nelle notizie "Real Time", forse perche' sono tutti in flash, che anche Repubblica passi ad HTML 5?
Ottimo lo sforzo ma scarso il risultato, spero facciano un field test piu' intensivo prima di rilasciare la nuova versione per il lancio in Italia.
Dal punto di vista editoriale, e' un peccato non avere i video, anche se sono citati nelle notizie "Real Time", forse perche' sono tutti in flash, che anche Repubblica passi ad HTML 5?

I wonder whether a paper-like reproduction is actually a good idea. You end up downloading a huge file (it takes more than 2 minutes ) and have a very limited (old media) content.
The full paper version should be an alternative way of browsing the paper, not the main one. Make repubblica tv and all the videos available to iPad, right now are flash based. If you really want people to subscribe, you need to provide much more content than a browsable version of the news paper.
