Company is non-responsive
I signed up because it advertised there would be no charge if I cancelled within the first 30 days and I wanted to give it a shot with my 4 year old. She had no interest in the game. It has a lengthy alphabet song that it tries to make you play at every level that she (and I) didn’t like, the activities were extremely basic-they aren’t even games, so it’s not interesting to kids. You’re supposed to move a slider with your finger while saying a letter’s sound out loud. That’s not a game. I completed the information of where my child was at with reading and it didn’t make sense where we were in placement-it was trying to introduce her to each letter and the sound it makes, and we are beyond that, so it’s even more boring for her. I emailed the company twice requesting a refund since we only tried the game for 1 day and I got an automated message saying they’re swamped with emails essentially-probably other parents trying to cancel. Now I have to call my credit card company to request they get involved for a refund. Waste of time.
Does not offer independence
The typed sentences should be narrated not a fan throughout the lesson he kept saying I can’t read this and there is no audio
Lovely app ruined by atrocious support
Got this application and pretty soon the five year old was totally addicted. Unfortunately at one point, a glitch occurred and said that we didn’t have an internet connection. Shutting down and restarting did nothing and inquiries to support went unanswered. For over a week I had a five year old asking me every day why he couldn’t use the app. If you are going to build something, charge for it and target kids and parents - have the common sense to actually support it.

Faulty Subscription/HORRIBLE customer support
I signed up for reading.com online. I paid my subscription and signed into the app using the email I subscribed with. The first month it worked great. The second month it took my payment again but now the app says I’m not subscribed and it won’t work. I have reached out to customer support MULTIPLE times with NO RESPONSE. I’ve essentially paid for a service and have not received it. My son is devastated because he was loving his reading lessons and finally growing confident in his own abilities. Now I doubt I’ll ever use this app again even if the issue is resolved. This has been a horrible experience unfortunately.
SCAM!
This app is a scam. Their advertising clearly states that you have 30 days to cancel if it doesn’t work for your child and that you will receive a full refund. That is completely false.
I canceled within the trial period because it was not helpful for my daughter, and I never received any refund. I have contacted support multiple times and no one responds. No email, no solution, nothing.
They promise a risk-free trial, but they do not honor it. Do not trust the 30-day guarantee.
Very disappointed.

Not impressed
I purchased through a Facebook ad using affirm and paid in full. I was immediately charged an additional $18.99 to my credit card upon downloading the app. It has been difficult to setup my children’s accounts on their devices while I’m away from home. I tried sending an email to support and was met with an error message saying that email is not working.

Educator Opinion
As an educator, I was excited to see something that was science of reading supported. My child has enjoyed the lessons and I loved the first 30 or so. It’s engaging and I loved the slider tool and books. Unfortunately the later lessons are not teaching phonics correctly. Instead of teaching /oy/ as a sound it is asking them to say long o and the y sound together. This is wrong and confusing. I noticed some other instances like having them sound out the word baby when the y as a vowel hasn’t been taught yet. I will continue to use it because I believe is it helping my child grow their confidence in reading. I would just caution parents that they need to do their research about correct scope and sequence and when to sound out words versus teaching them heart words.
