I randomly got kicked out of my new LINE account and was barred from logging in again with “verification temporarily blocked” messages. I attempted to contact someone to help me recover my account, got the runaround with their inquiry forms, and still haven’t been able to speak with someone through a phone call or email correspondence. I can’t make a new account either because it only gives me the option to make the account with my Apple ID, and mine is already tied to the blocked account. Terrible experience, 10/10 would not recommend.

To make matters worse, if you are in the US, it won't even let you verify via phone number easily. I just lost access to my account, which has incredibly important work data inside, all because of this flawed, outdated system.
DO NOT delete your app, DO NOT log out, and make sure you link your email/Apple ID right now before it’s too late. Don't learn it the hard way like I did. LINE support is useless

Unable to log in
I have only had this app for 1 week and I started having issues with all of the features in the app. I am unable to click on anything in the app other than chats. I wasn't able to use sticker shop etc. I deleted the app and reinstalled hoping that would fix the problem. However, after I reinstalled the and tried to log in, it kept saying ''verification is temporarily blocked'' and when I reached out to LINE support, they said it was due to me violating their terms of use e.g. abusive language, obscene content, obscene expressions. Mind you, I have only had this app for one week, and added only 1 friend and I am in 1 group chat with parents from a children's karate class. I have not sent ANY messages yet. LINE support is absolutely no help. This entire situation is ridiculous

Unacceptable Account Recovery Experience
LINE’s account transfer system is absolutely terrible. I changed devices and it would not let me transfer my account with my own phone number. This is absurd. A messaging app should not make users risk losing their account just because they got a new phone.
The process is confusing, restrictive, and poorly explained. This is one of the worst account recovery experiences I have ever had.

Why is it that it’s telling me to sign in, which I’m doing and it keep on telling me to go into my account. If I can’t sign into my account how is it that I’m gonna get whatever code is send into my account. Worst app ever
This app is the worst app I have ever used. My phone broke and I got locked out of my line account. If you read their flow chart of FAQs it says “if you can’t access your old device, login with your phone number.” Then when I do that it says “access your old device.” How does that make any sense?? Surely if I could summon my broken phone to work again I wouldn’t need to re-login, right? Now I lost all my contacts despite being able to provide all my login credentials. Even when I was able to use this app I randomly wouldn’t receive notifications, messages would appear on lock screen and not in the messages (no, it’s not my phone’s fault-this only happens on LINE). Seriously, do not use this app. Use WhatsApp, Facebook messenger, or even good old fashioned letter writing would be easier than using this app.

Account Transfer Code
I recently went into Apple for a battery replacement but Apple broke my phone during the repair and gave me a brand new unit. I now need to setup my new phone and as I was trying to login to line, it requires a Transfer Code from a device that’s “already” logged in which makes no sense since the phone that was “logged in” is now broken and is not in my possession.
when I try to create a new account it says your Apple ID is already being used! So stupid I can’t even log back into my account without another device already being logged in. no way to bypass this either so now I cannot even use line anymore.

Suspended my account for no reason
I am going to Japan for a cultural exchange trip and it was recommended I download line. I set up my account about a week before my trip and didn’t touch it. I tried to add some friends on the app and it was giving be error codes. It started showing me a message that said my account had temporarily been suspended which is weird because I literally had not touched the app. It does not specify why I was suspended or how long it will be. I just don’t understand what I could have done that was against lines terms or service considering all I did was set up an account.

No way to recover your account if you lose access to your old phone
Could any of the LINE software engineers please fix this bug? A lot of users are complaining about it.
I lost my old phone and am trying to log in on a new device using the same phone number, but there is no option to log in with a phone number in the US. There is also no email login option on mobile devices. Instead, the app forces users to sign in with Apple ID or Google ID, and the same email address doesn’t work through those SSO paths.
This creates a situation where users can be completely locked out of their accounts after losing or replacing a phone.

Impossible to work with
My parents set on a parental control app which includes a VPN I can’t take off. This app won’t let me do ANYTHING with this vpn on. I confirmed it was the vpn by taking it off and before it automatically reconnected (a few secs) I sent a message to someone. It sent. Then when the vpn reconnected nothing sent or worked. I couldn’t set an ID, a status, add anyone, and I couldn’t do anything. It’s annoying, really.

Would not even go a 1 star at this point unfortunately. Used to be able to log in by phone number now it’s not an option in the USA, even though the servicer by text messages and phone calls through verification are through USA and other countries. My email has been verified through Apple and is saying it is not. So another option is through a QR code which I do not have or set up another line app. I had to reinstall the app because I was not getting notifications when I reinstalled I haven’t been able to log back in since. App completely sucks wouldn’t recommend to anyone unless of course it changes back to being able to log back in by using phone number through USA again.

USA - Can’t access my account anymore
Got a new phone, didn’t know I needed my old phone to transfer - huge mistake apparently. Cannot use phone number to login. No option on the app to use email and password (which I have) - only Apple ID or Google. Even though both are associated with my email, LINE says they can’t identify any existing account - even though when I use google, the google app screen says “I’m signing back in” to LINE. Still can’t get in. Tried creating a new account but if I try to add my email it says it will unlink from my old account (acknowledging it exists in the first place) and only be used with my new account. So basically LINE knows my account is there and none of its login methods is smart enough or working to link the 2 accounts together. The “inquiry” form is terrible and doesn’t allow free typing so you have to choose the right prompts and attach screenshots and just hope you did it right. Currently waiting for a reply from support.

Losing my 10+ yrs account
Didn’t know you cannot login with your phone number in the US now. Recently got a new phone and couldn’t verify my account through my number and Apple ID, and the inquiry form page is pretty much 100% useless. Now it looks like I’m about to lose my account that I’ve created almost 15 years ago. This company is absolutely ridiculous and makes me nauseous just thinking about how much money and time I’ve wasted on this app.

Couldn’t log in like before
Usually I log in by username and password or phone number but now I can’t so sad with that. It shows just scan QR code from another device. I have iPad it didn’t show easy transfer device that they show how to do it for me at all. The login process is messed up. If you ever forget your password, its sadly a goodbye to your account as you can’t chat with anyone to recover it, to reset your password you need to login with your password (makes no sense). Even if you do know your email or apple account, you won’t be able to log in as Line conveniently “forgets” you have an account tied to that email. Horrible and not user-friendly.

Definitely not recommended
I am very disappointed with my experience using LINE. I lost access to my account, which is essential for my work communication, and the recovery process has been extremely difficult and confusing. Even though I have access to the email associated with my account, I have not been able to recover it successfully.
The account recovery options are limited, and the instructions provided are not clear enough for users outside the supported regions. This has caused significant inconvenience and affected my ability to communicate with my company.
I hope LINE improves its account recovery process and provides better support for users who rely on the app for professional communication.

Questionable Suspension
I was in Taiwan when I downloaded line as that is the primary form of communication. I was in a single group chat with family members when suddenly I could no longer send messages. When inquiring about why my account was suspended, line said that they could not provide any information regarding the reason for or duration of suspension, which makes it impossible to recover my account. It has been over a year now since my account has been suspended. It is neither logical nor conductive to user experience to provide no reasoning behind the suspension. Furthermore, it is nearly impossible to get in contact with support staff to resolve this issue. I do not understand why anyone would use this app as their primary source of communication. There are several better structured, more secure, and streamlined apps that could otherwise be used. This has been an exceptionally frustrating experience.

Transfer account between iphones not possible
Poorly made app. Line on my old iphone says "have the new iphone scan the QR code to transfer the account to the new iphone" but LINE (updated version, if course) on my new iphone shows only two ways to transfer: one is to use a phone number (which is not available in US according to the app's own help for transfer-- ridiculous), two is to use an Apple account (which I do not want to, and based on the review here, it will cause the problem for the future transfer). Why do you make the transfer between iphones nearly impossible? I understand why more people are shifting to whatsapp as it causes less hassle and does the same job basically. Do better.

Plan on never losing your phone if you get this app. You’ll never be able to log in again.
I’ve been stuck in the transfer verification loop and there is no way out. Getting a new phone has bricked this application. Especially frustrating since I have lost chats and photos with my friends in Japan. As well as the sticker packs I paid money for.
You cannot verify with phone number in the US. You cannot log in using Apple ID without the previous device. You can’t create a new account because your Apple ID is already in use.
Absolutely ridiculous.
There is no support to reach out to either.
