Money.
I wanted to start learning sign language so I downloaded this app from YouTube. It was really good for a bit until I got to where I had to pay. I’m already paying for learning subscriptions like Duolingo bottle for my education and it should be free. It’s a really good app but almost every app now is making us pay especially since it’s so expensive and it’s so bad
Charged at sign up
I signed up for the seven day free trial. It told me that I would be given a warning prior to my trial being over so that I had a chance to cancel it. I was charged as soon as I signed up. I didn’t get a free trial. They charged my card immediately upon hitting enter. I’m not upset that the app yet because I have not gotten to use it. I’m upset at the false claim that we get a free seven day trial. I signed up for the $17.99 a month and I was charged $21.99 before my free trial even began.
Unaffordable
I was not aggressively asked about upgrading this account until about a week into using and the app wouldn’t let me continue with any lessons without setting up a subscription. I couldn’t even practice without signing up and paying. That’s not a wrong thing to do, however, it was never stated that I would need a subscription to continue or anything like that. It seems very predatory to do something like that to unsuspecting people. We just want to learn. Do better.
I WAS excited
I got this app today and finished all the free lessons but now it makes me pay. I wanted to learn ASL but this app disappointed me. Do not recommend.
Okay…
It’s a decent app. I had fun learning sign language, but the price is a little ridiculous. I ended up paying for a month because the app told me it would notify me about the subscription two days before the trial expired, however, I never received that notification. The real problem isn’t that I got an extra month I really didn’t want, (not because the app isn’t good but because I need that money and I get too busy to use the app daily,) but because the app said it would let me know and never did. This is where the problem lies.

i’ve tried so many apps but they always only let you do like 2 lessons before having to pay, it’s so annoying because they say it’s free!

Ok so I’m taking ASL for high school and I wanted to get ahead of the game, so I decided to look for free apps to learn more signs. Everything was going great until I began chapter 2. They put me in a position so I would have to pay $119 dollars a year! They say I could have a free trial and all but it just became a scam.

let’s you do the first few lessons then tries to make you pay $100. absolutely not.

I will be literally overjoyed when they fixed this. I hope I’m the only one this happens to and someone can tell me how to fix this. I emailed the Lingvano support and told them about this. Love ASL. Hope this community grows even more! But please fix this

Pretty good but gotta pay
It teaches very understandably but most of the language is locked behind a pay wall, whats the point of designing an app to make learning ASL accessible if youre gonna lock most of it behind a paywall, and some of the other stuff that isnt behind a paywall wall you cant do because you hadnt learned words that were taught in the pay wall section

Good app but it wants me to buy a subscription after a few lessons and won’t let me continue without buying it.
You have to pay
It only allows you to get through the introduction before you have to start paying. Also, as one of my answers I put “how”… and got it wrong for not putting “how?”
