Won’t tune
The tuner is buggy. Playing pure tones from garage band right into it and it won’t recognize until a random 60-300second timeout. Then it says the note is perfectly in tune. Image how frustrating it is for a child learning to play when the app randomly decides to stop listening.
Very Buggy
Frustrating to use because it just stops working. I’m trying to tune my kids guitar - it doesn’t respond to what I’m doing at all and jumps up and down the line. I thought it was my mic, so I used a different device. Same problem.
Buggy app and terrible customer support
My son just lost all of his progress and unlocks because the app stopped accepting his credentials. Customer support’s only suggestion was that we create a new account. This was after spending hours on the phone with them. no consideration for the failure of their app. Not a month free, nothing. It’s a decent app and we’ve been having fun with it, but I’m now very nervous about it and look forward to my son being able to move onto a normal guitar and not having to rely on this.
The app does not pick up notes
Got our 4-year-old the Loog mini acoustic guitar for her birthday. The content on this app is cool except for one massive and totally frustrating flaw: the app’s note recognition capabilities are abysmal such that it does not accurately recognize the notes being played so it records notes and chords as “misses” even when they are played flawlessly. This causes a lot of frustration for a little kid who can’t advance in lessons or to new songs because the app’s note recognition is crumby. You’d expect better from Loog.
Doesn’t pick up sounds
Super frustrating for my 7 year old, unless they fix the app soon I’ll be returning the guitar.
The app will miss a played note or hear itself and say you played early.
Instead of finding a love for music he’s getting discouraged which is a huge bummer.
The guitar is nice, the app looks great and we were both so excited - please get this fixed ASAP

Inconsistent feedback
The app rarely hears the notes being played. It will act like a note isn’t played giving my child inconsistent feedback on her progress- confusing her more than helping her.
I tried and it was just as bad even though I’ve played for years.
The idea is brilliant but the execution does the exact opposite of the intended purpose.

Not as Advertised
Bought this along with the Pro VI electric guitar for my 8 year old. This app is worthless for a true beginner-as other reviewers mentioned, the tuner doesn’t work at all, the microphone technology doesn’t “hear” the actual playing, the app constantly glitches and freezes, and the interface doesn’t do a good job of explaining anything to an actual beginner. I found another guitar app that is actually what we need for a beginner so the money I spent on this “lifetime pass” was a complete waste. Very frustrating and disappointing.
App is horrible -can’t log in
Day after Christmas, bought pass, tried to log in and login button is continuously grayed out. No support. Pointed to ai chatbot which is useless.
Guessing update 3 days ago broke it Might want to work on your release testing.

Horrible app
Made me tune it until the strings broke
Why do u need so much money from me
I came here to learn guitar. Nothing more, nothing less. I opened the songs page and there was 4 free songs and the rest you had to pay for. I’m not about to spend money on a membership that I’d waste my money on when my guitar phase ends. I already paid for my guitar. If you want to improve it, add some more songs, doesn’t have to be many, but make them good ones (such as la cucaracha or anything by Taylor swift). Also on the songs page, when I tried playing twinkle twinkle little star the app wouldn’t accept the notes I was playing and kept telling me i missed it and gave me 0 stars. I even tried cheating it with my violin and IT STILL DIDNT WORK. I don’t know if it was me, but it was frustrating.
Charged for subscription but nothing unlocked
Have now been charged 2x annual subscription fees but the app still shows no subscription. Show an active subscription in my Apple account, have tried toggling between monthly quarterly etc but still nothing.
I wanted to like it, I really did
This was exactly the kind of app I wanted for my daughter and me. The problem is it just doesn’t work for its primary purpose. The main feature on the app is learning songs and playing along, but the app’s reception of the notes is horrendous.
I’ve tried with both of my daughter’s Loog guitars and all of my adult guitars (and my ukulele) on multiple iPads and iPhones to be sure that it’s not the device and it’s not the instruments, it’s the app. I wanted this to be a fun way for my daughter to learn guitar, but it’s just frustrating for her when she plays something perfectly only for the app to register it as a miss.
Why aren’t they focusing all of their efforts into fixing this? They keep offering updates with new features and bug fixes, but they haven’t fixed the issue that matters most BY FAR! What is wrong with the people at Loog? This is unforgivable.

Kinda Bad
When my sister and I are playing songs with our guitar, the microphone doesn’t register the sound from our Loog guitar. I wish you could fix that problem because it would make our Loog experience way better 😡😡😡👏.
Tuner and app response worthless
We bought an acoustic and an electric guitar for my children with high hopes. The idea of the app exercises is great but what should be simple technology just doesn’t work. Tested across at least 4 recent Apple devices including 2 iPad Pros in a quiet room, it does not/cannot detect a note for tuning, maybe once out of 20 attempts and then it’s inaccurate. As for practicing chords and notes, again the app rarely detects the guitar or it gives credit when no note is even played. The instruments are great, but the app is not.
No worth it and terrible customer service
The app was hard for my kids to use. The jump in difficulty was giant and they got discouraged very quickly. It auto renewed which is my bad, but i was not able to even reset my password. Then when I canceled it, I lost access for another year. I paid literally the full year subscription and only had access to for a month. I guess that is part of the fine print, that I literally cannot access to go over anymore. Not even a warning before they cut access from me.
Not happy with tuner in new app
I enjoyed using old app, but the transition to the new app has been very rocky. I had to make a whole new profile and my kids lost all their characters and items they got for them. I also dislike the new tuning feature. It doesn’t seem to work at all.
Just WHY!!

Paywall on a previously free app
Daughter asks to play “shake it off” (her favorite song to play along with on the previous app) only to find it behind a paywall. All previously purchased accessories are gone from old app. The free app was a big selling point in choosing this instrument. Don’t purchase this guitar for your young musician.
App doesn’t distinguish mic input.
In chord practice, app counts my son talking, plucking a single string, or playing an incorrect chord as if he strummed the right chord. In the balloon game, app pops balloons itself whether my son plucks the correct string, incorrect string, or no string at all.
Same experience on both my phone and his iPad.
He’s really getting nothing out of the app experience.
I absolutely LOVE the guitar for him, but regret the money I spent for electronic subscriptions from Loog.

STUPID APP DOESNT WORK
I HAVE TO PLAY THE CHORD FIVE SECONDS EARLY BECAUSE WHEN I DO IT ON TIME IT DOESNT WORK EVEN WHEN I HAVE MY IPAD RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME AND STRUMMING AS HARD AS I CAN IT CANT EVEN PICK UP
They TRASHED the app!
The O.G. App was so much better! Calling this app trash would be in insult to trash because it is so bad! Now to do anything you have to have a membership!? Don’t get this app! It is a waste of time and is completely useless if you don’t have a membership. Keep the O.G. App!

Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Doesn’t work
Won’t recognize any chords we play. Great concept, but doesn’t work, it’s like it doesn’t hear anything
New app no longer has songs
The old app had songs to play along with, like the Beatles. The new app does not without paying an additional fee.
The old version was actually good
The new version stinks! It keeps talking about things requiring the old deleted version. Also you have to pay for the good part. 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😡😡😡😡😡😡😠😡😠😡😠😡😠😡😠😡😠😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Won’t load
Hard to rate an app that won’t get past the sign in page.
Nope
Tries to make you think that an account is required. Twice. Website and app have terrible password management.
Many issues not enough content
The app does not recognize the notes your playing. Not as much content as it says
Guitar is great, app not so much
I love the fender by loog guitar for a beginner, but this app is useless, unfortunately. I was so excited that the app would teach my daughter a bit, but the tuner does not work. The balloon popping game seems to not hear the strings when we play either.
False advertising with uke for this app
Website and marketing and even the box my loog ukulele came in all mention being able to use the app (ukulele packaging even included QR code to download this app), but this app does NOT support the ukulele.
Tuning works. Nothing else is consistent
The tuning module is good and works. The balloon pop game is so inconsistent as to be useless. We received the guitar as a gift with a plan to buy subscription for lessons but if the game can’t even detect when she’s playing why would we purchase more? Gave one star for tuning.

App Does not hear you timing or notes accurately
The guitar is great!! Love the concept but the app doesn’t work well. It cannot hear when we are playing the chords and it triggers itself when the song is playing rather than listening to what we are playing. Definitely needs some work.
Kind of frustrating…
It a great idea but, when you play the songs it doesn’t hear your coord and you fail the song and you can’t play any other songs until you master that song, so kind of frustrating, I do like that you can tune your guitar and dress up your character but playing the songs and practice chords and it doesn’t hear you and says you got it wrong can make me mad, so it’s not forth the money and you should get something els instead.
Regret the investment.
My children and I had been playing these songs for years. Now they are behind a paywall. Feels like classic bait and switch, while preying on parents guilt for children’s frustration wanting to continue playing their songs. I regret buying my children all of these instruments from user hostile company.
Good idea, terrible execution
I really wanted to like this App, but as a tool to teach young kids (or anyone for that matter) it is not only ineffective but more likely to turn kids off to music than help them enjoy and progress in it. The fundamental issue is that there is no logical learning path to follow. When you go to “lessons” for chords, you are given a series videos of random and unrelated chords with no logical connection or progression. So the first chord you learn is G (good place to start) and the second chord you learn is F#m (a bar chord) then G# (a chord I dare say most guitar players will never play in their lives. Same story for songs. They could start with one note songs like “Twinkle Twinkle” to help kids learn the frets and build strength, then progress to playing two strings at once, etc. Or at least start simple and related chords (G and C for example) and then provide some simple songs to practice transitioning (again, Twinkle Twinkle is a great place to start). They don’t do this, and don’t seem interested in trying to actually teach at all. It’s certainly a missed opportunity, but also a frustrating waste for people who have paid money for the instrument and app thinking it was thoughtfully designed.
It's ok
So it always logs me out and I loose all my progress and it's so laggy all the time so it ok
Issues picking up sounds
The app is a good concept however it won’t pick up chords correctly. There are times that the correct chord is played on time and the app will mark it as missed or at times no chord is even played and the app states it’s being played perfectly. It is not consistent I am an experienced guitar player and purchased this app for my daughter to practice and she likes it but gets frustrated that the app will not display accurate information. I even played some of the songs to confirm it’s the app and not the player and I have the same issues my 5 year old is having. I have emailed Loog a few times asking if there is something else I can do to resolve the issue and they never answer me. This is an app issue.
K some things can be fixed
First of all when I get the note perfect I counted it wrong second I was practicing a song and it just kept getting harder and harder. I would suggest if you didn’t make it harder cause now I can not even play the song anymore cause it’s so hard so could you please just keep it the same once you get to a higher level because it just makes it even worse.
Perfect the way it was
I used to love the old version of the app, where everything was *ahem* free, but when I logged in today, it gave me no choice but to switch to the new app, which I wasn’t thrilled about, but willing to give it a shot. So, I open the app, and it offers me to subscribe, so I thought it was just for like, new clothing items, but no, I would learn that latter. I was so excited to learn that there were new artists to play music from, but you had to pay for them! What’s the point of having Olivia Rodrigo or Katy Perry or Billie Ellish if you can’t even play their songs. It’s taunting you because you don’t want to waste ten dollars a month or whatever. It only gets worse when I try to actually work on chords and learn that the lovely lady who would be in the videos was replaced by animation. Infuriating.
Serious issues
I have had many issues logging in. In many cases I have to change my password and even then it won’t log me in. I got backstage for a year and the code doesn’t work. The issues with just logging in make it hard to get my kid excited to play. Also when playing with the app it seems to recognize almost any sound instead of the right sound, so it defeats the purpose
Missed notes + song speed broken
Really want to love this app, but it misses correct notes constantly (workaround is to play every note painfully early), and then the option to change song speed is broken! That’s such a core feature to learning new chords - how is Loog not fixing this urgently?
Less than expected
Bought this for my son for Christmas, he's 6 and excited to learn. The tuner on this app is basically useless. It doesn't even respond to you when you pluck a string most of the time, and when it does it tells you you're wildly out of tune while another third party tuner says you're in tune.
The app hears its self and tells you you're hitting the wrong notes because it hears its own notes. I'm convinced that this app will ONLY work with headphones. I gotta say I was very excited to start with this with him but I'm extremely disappointed that basically everything in this app is not working how it is advertised. I'll make it work I'm sure because I'm a musician but I really thought that for this price the app would be better and I wouldn't have to do everything for him that the app said it would.

App
The app does not follow my strokes what can be done I already deleted it and still have the same problem
App does not recognize chords
The app has enough songs to be fun however it will not recognize chords even when played correctly. Tested it on an iPhone and iPad with a Loog Electric Mini. Used an external tuner to confirm it’s the app itself not picking up the chords. Melody-based songs work well. Overall disappointed and canceling my subscription.
It can barely hear my electric guitar!
I bought a electric guitar and when it came I got this app and when I play a song doesn't even hear me then I bought a speaker then I played a song it still couldn't hear me but other stuff that doesn't need the microphone is good.
I’m going on a trip in July so I’ll have some of those things to make it more interesting.
I have tried to update the app but the app keeps saying it is updated but it doesn’t let me update it.
Please fix it so that I can update my app again.
Please fix it so that I can update my app again.
Disorganized microtransaction mess
After buying the guitar on the promise of learning guitar through an app, I’m disappointed to report that it’s a disorganized point-and-click hodgepodge of guitar gimmicks, difficult to navigate, the “lessons” are YouTube videos and monthly service charges, and you need to sign your child (mines’s 7) up for a service. Not as advertised, avoid our mistake
