You see advertisement you think great I need some of that at a good price. Try to go get it and well there is all this clipping coupons and try to get the app to work. It a total pain. So complicated because each time the app updates you got to long in again. It all makes me hate lucky.

NOT USER FRIENDLY
LOVE the sales and great fresh produce. However, the home delivery order site is a mess. I never can tell if I am ordering or just putting on a list! I am old so I’m sure younger folks can figure it out but I wish there were easy access instructions for those of us not as APP savvy. Thank you and I am going to miss shopping with Lucky!

The actual worst app ever
I really hope your app developers read this.
First, it’s almost impossible to sign into, the main screen always has the login option greyed out but I figured out how to bypass that by going to register instead and then opting to login. It shouldn’t have to be that complicated to log into a freaking grocery store app.
Second, once I’m finally able to login with the terrible store WiFi, it takes forever for items to load and godspeed to you if you try searching for something… it will timeout when items aren’t loading right away.

Can’t register for account
This sign up form for this app is broken both in the web version and in this app. I’m unable to register for an account rendering this app useless.
I’ve tried numerous times weeks apart hoping a bug fix would occur, and I’ve even tried fiddling with the javascript to manually submit the sign up form. This just results in a 403 HTTP error even when all fields are completed.
This is especially bad because many of Lucky’s coupons are digital only.

Terrible UX
I am a casual shopper. I don’t use the app often, and I have to relearn it every time. I should also state that I hate the idea of a loyalty app in the first place (as opposed to a loyalty card), but I understand the market drive for the sake of monetization and customer data exploitation.
All that being said, this app is so touch intensive and unintuitive that every time I use it, it leaves me (a software engineer) swearing in frustration and considering just abandoning my filled cart in the aisle and buying my stuff somewhere else. The only thing I want to use this app for is digital coupons. The ONLY thing. Every other function is wasted on me. But just to “clip” a digital coupon and show it to the cashier, an action that used to require only seeing a deal and presenting my loyalty card (1-2 touches, maybe 5 seconds of effort from me) now requires me to take out my phone, find and open the app, log into the app, click the “coupon” button (and fates help you if you forget, because the app won’t show it to you when searching under products or clicking on the product that has a deal available. Why? Who knows!), pick a coupon type by sheer guesswork (I’m looking for a Coca-Cola coupon, but it’s not under beverages. Why? Who knows! Hopefully I didn’t click on All Coupons or I could be scrolling through hundreds of them with no search feature. Why? Who knows! When I do find it, I almost scroll right by it, because the icon doesn’t match the actual product I’m trying to buy and the title is the deal text itself instead of a reference to the brand affected by the coupon. Why? Who knows!), then I “clip” the coupon and watch it go…nowhere? If I was doing this in real life, clipped paper coupons (an antiquated process that has little meaning to me as a Millenial consumer anyway) would go (literally) into “my hand”, “my purse”, or “my pocket”. If we are mimicking the world of loyalty cards, then deals go on “my card”. In this app, they go into “rewards”. Why? (Not even “my rewards” to indicate that these are rewards associated to me?) Long experience with other apps has taught me that a dollar sign means “buy”. Why would I (intuitively) click a dollar sign when I just want to show the cashier my clipped coupon? I’m not trying to “buy” anything in the app! That same experience has taught me that “rewards” are things you get for repeat business. I’m not looking for my loyalty points or anything, I want to find “my coupons”! What would entice me to look under this button? Nothing. And the placement of a business-concluding action on an app is also almost always by itself in a place of prominence - at the top right (like “my cart” or “my bag” would be - another halfway decent place to put coupons, though it becomes a mixed metaphor) or centered or right-aligned at the bottom of the screen (in a different color, and by itself). This button is none of those things. It is in line with other navigational buttons, in a subdued color scheme. Its (lack of) prominence does not program me to think this button will conclude my transaction. If the primary purpose of this app is to replace the loyalty card (maybe it isn’t, but as a consumer, that is my perception), why isn’t there a giant button that says “My Card”? And when I do finally find this purloined icon, it doesn’t even tell me that it IS my card! It just says “Hi” and shows me an unlabeled barcode! No store logo, it doesn’t look like a card, and no instruction to show it to the cashier. How was I supposed to know that this is what they needed without me asking? And what about the coupon?? There’s tiny text at the top that says I have one coupon now, but it doesn’t tell me it’s already applied to the card! So my next intuitive action is to click on the text to take me to the coupon, but neither the small coupon image, nor the detail info (if I click on it again) has any barcode to scan! That is how coupons work! You scan them! Why would you make it so I can’t scan this one? (And not explicitly tell me where to scan instead?)
All told, this process takes me something on the order of 13 taps on my phone if I let it store my login info, don’t mess up a single keystroke, and remember exactly what I’m doing, which I never do. The process of relearning the app and figuring out how to clip and use a coupon takes MINUTES, compared to the seconds it used to take to whip out my card. And most of the time, I’m doing this while standing in line with other people waiting behind me. It’s TERRIBLE as a user experience, it hurts other customers (and a speedy business model), and it probably makes your cashiers hate their lives after the sixth time it happens every day. As an exercise in anthropological design, it’s an awkward amalgamation of known human experiences, mirroring ONLY DISJOINTED PARTS of each of the eponymous experience of clipping coupons, the experience of using a loyalty card, and the experience of shopping with an app.
Whoever your ethnographic design person is, either no one is listening to them, or they need to do more research on this one. A LOT more research.

Not really an app
This is an app that links you to their website, you cannot place orders within the website. It does not work like the Safeway app. It’s clunky and they still use Instacart. So if there is no Instacart shopper available, your order does not get filled.
