I’ve been using video editing apps for many years. I thought I’d give this one a try to see if it had some of the elements I typically have to use two different apps to get. Once inside, the entire process was NOT at all intuitive or user friendly. I gave it about 20 minutes and then decided it’s not for me. I immediately requested a refund and deleted the app. LumaFusion has repeatedly denied my refund request. So, I paid $29.99 for 15 minutes of realizing this isn’t for me. Shame of you LumaFusion.
This thing is a joke
What an awful video editor. It’s very hard to use. The tutorials are done by people with heavy English accents. Jeez. Really? It’s not intuitive at all and there is a big learning curve. And no I’m not new to video editing. This could have been designed to be way easier .

Not worth 30 dollars in any regard
I bought this app as it was recommended for editing large files via a mobile device, I shoot 10-bit 4:2:2 4K and want to preserve that quality. I appreciate that this app gives you a lot more flexibility (especially with pro-res 444), and ability to maintain your videos original quality, I can’t find any similar mobile phone editing software that does the same. As well the ability to individually adjust the EQ for audio is nice.
However that is the only redeeming quality. The UI is not intuitive, or easy to use. You can’t adjust curves such other free apps allow you to do, the color grading is far too basic for a $30 price tag. It defeats the purpose of purchasing this app for the import and export flexibility as I have to export my content into another app that does not allow me to preserve the video quality, such renders this app to be completely useless. I could have just cut out the middle man and uploaded my raw footage into another app like premier that will just compress my video, the same way it will if I upload the content into premier from Luma fusion.

once great app now just an ad for a subscription
I really dont like the premium video editing software I paid for to have a ui cluttered with ads. I bought this software to get work done and im constantly dodging clicking on stuff thats gonna pull up a subscription purchase now. its a shameful destruction of a once great app. truly shameful. I wish I could rescind my purchase and take my money elsewhere but I--obviously--cannot. its completely legal for a company to ruin a piece of software you paid for and theres nothing you can do about it, :) own nothing and like it, etc, etc, etc
Confusing icons and cramped for space
I’ve been editing video on many formats for over 40 years, this isn’t very intuitive and ramped for space. Editing on a phone isn’t a serious editors first choice anyway.

Their support is honestly a joke. I’ve reported a random UI reset bug for three years now, and all they do is ask the same dumb questions instead of fixing it. I set up my UI exactly how I want it, and the app just resets everything to default whenever it feels like it. I’ve sent them logs, explained that it’s random, but they still haven’t figured it out.
I even suggested adding basic stuff like custom default colors in the timeline to separate audio, video, and b-roll-super obvious stuff to help editors-but they just said, “How does this help?” Like, come on, devs. Use your brains.
Even when I tried using ChatGPT to communicate clearer messages to them, it’s still the same slow, clueless responses. I’m done messaging you. Figure it out, devs. It’s been years, and I’m still waiting for real progress and updates. At this point, I’m just holding out for a few more improvements from Final Cut Pro before switching over.

Just wanted to simply change smoke color in a video. Didn’t know I would need to take 2-3 college level courses to accomplish that.

LUT import fail
I’ve been using LumaFusion on my iPad M4. It works great. I installed the iPad Version on my Mac M4 MB Pro and now cannot import any lots. What am I missing??
What a mess, please don’t buy.
The UI in this thing is so illogical and pointless that it is impossible to use efficiently. Try this: create a test project. Add a title. Now try to edit the title. Next, add a video or photo to your timeline and perhaps another. Now try to add a transition. IF you are LUCKY you’ll be able to find out how to do either of these things. Searching the inferior ON-LINE ONLY help for text or transition will yield nothing. Any other vid edit tool will be more efficient than this waste of time.
Don’t be fooled… it costs about $200 for entire product …
They just try to get you in the door with $20 purchase .. and then to use any feature .. $20 + $20 + $20 … per feature. All of the sudden $200 for all features. Garbage.

i hate the fact that everything is a subscription with this suite. why cant you just be like blackmagic and offer amazing functionality for free and only have one price for purchasing advanced features.
Zero reverb and other plugins don't work anymore

You need to pay to even get the app and then if you want the feature of being able to speed up your video, which is free with another completely free editing software out there in the world, Luma will make you pay an additional 20 dollars or a monthly or yearly subscription fee. If I could get my money back from purchasing this app, I would. Being able to speed up or slow down your footage is a standard feature in editing software, I don’t see why this problem is making you pay features you can get on Youcut or other free editing software.

This app used to be something i bought this app for 19.99 when they first dropped it and everything for the most part was accessible I’ve made countless videos using this software and they think they ish don’t stank so they started a subscription service and have locked the additional lines for editing now if you aren’t subscribed which is total BS when you already purchased the app i have videos that i have to basically pay them 10.00 just to even look at let alone finish editing them this app has basically takin my creative properties and are holding them hostage this was poorly done especially to a loyal customer now i can i basically cant use the app anymore for video editing unless i pay a subscription which i feel is outrageous what happened to buying it and owning it why do i have to pay a subscription to use this app well it was fun while it lasted Im officially done using this app

Double Charged me. App says $29.99 and when I purchssed, it double charged me. Do Not buy.
Paid app but requires monthly subscription for all features.
I bought this before they had the subscription model introduced, only to find out that if you want features unlocked in a $30 app you are required to pay $10 a month to have basic features in any video editing software. I can understand if it was a free or less than $10 app but subscription models are extremely annoying. I will be switching to another app as i don’t trust this developer not to put more subscription paywalls in the app.
DistroKid Rights Manager is claiming copyright infringement
I pay extra for the music to use on my videos and DistroKid Rights Manager is claiming copyright infringement on the music I’m paying you to use. I sent an email to the developer and have not gotten a response back. If I need to find a different editing software I will but I really like LumaFusion and don’t want to change. Please help.

Not for Ipad Pro m4
This app was great until I got my IPad Pro M4. I was experiencing issues when I got it so i figured i would wait until the got the bugs out for the new IPad. Now it’s a year later and it still is very buggy on the ipad m4. Such a great editor is not worthless on my ipad.
Gone Downhill
I bought LumiFusion and have used it for years. For a long time it’s been fantastic, running smoothly, allowing for great editing with minimal setbacks, and I’ve been able to create stellar work with it.
However recently, it’s been going completely downhill. Crashing every time I try to export a project, extreme slowdown, the playback feature doesn’t work properly anymore so I can’t check my work, and now the developers have implemented a subscription feature as well, despite already having an initial download cost. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if they deigned to stoop so low as to add AI features to the application.
I chose LumiFusion initially because it was one time purchase and came with all the tools I’d need to do my work, but now it just isn’t worth the money. Very disappointed in the devs and where they’ve taken it.

Beware of Using this App with iPad 0S 26
This app continuously displays an export write error. I have done everything that the support page says to do, I have contacted support, who wanted me to upload the project that it was happening on. The problem is, it happens on all of my projects. I have been hoping for an update to fix the problem, but so far there has not been one. This vendor seems to be unconcerned about solving this problem.

It takes forever to edit videos. The app is annoying. I was hoping this app would be better but nope.
Got Greedy - Should Have Learned From Filmic
We continue to see this from Apps who gain a dedicated fan base by offering a premium ***PAID*** piece of software and then deciding later they’d like to charge a monthly fee for new updates. Why should I pay your rent?? I already bought the app AND I have supported every one of your add on purchases to support something good. Now you want me to pay a SUBSCRIPTION just for the hopes that someday you’ll update the app with something I care about with no signs of a development roadmap or something? Go ahead and take a look at Filmic Pro and see how this worked out for them. Bye 👋
Don’t get the hype
I bought this app specifically for a project that was heavily reliant on reversing clips. However, when you reverse a clip in this app it turns the clip into a blank black screen. Looking up the issue I come to find that this bug has been an ongoing problem on this app for over 6 years. Also the ui is needlessly complicated. Wish I did more research before dropping 30 bucks on this
Sound Isolation Issue
I’ve been a long-time user of LumaFusion, and I really appreciate how powerful the app is for mobile editing. However, I’ve been really disappointed with the sound isolation feature. When I try to remove harsh road noise or harsh wind noise, the AI-based isolation algorithm struggles. It often drops the audio in and out, creating these awkward gaps in the audio. The end result is inconsistent and frustrating-especially since sound is so critical to a video project. I really hope LumaFusion prioritizes improving this AI feature. Once this gets fixed, it’ll be a game-changer. Until then, I can’t rely on it for professional audio work.
No More Free Storyblocks Music
Very disappointed, as I’ve been using this app for years. Paid the initial 30 dollars I think it was, maybe more? The app worked like a charm and still does, but I realized that the initial options for background music I would be able to use aren’t even an option anymore. You now have to subscribe to the Creator Pass to use anything under Storyblocks. I get it, you have to make money, but I paid for this app. There are plenty of places I can get free music from, but having the free options already on the app, made it so much easier. If this was a free app, I would understand. But why charge for an app purchase, if you’re going to charge even more after?

Unfortunately, there’s more to criticize of course, like slowing, glitching, or crashing when using any speed increase/decrease settings, scenes glitching out in the project itself, or audio filters not working after exporting vids.
However, my biggest issue would be with the random darkness that appears on exported videos. I assemble a lot of images sometimes, and some vids get lengthy. The longer the video and the more images and effects, the more likely I get this random blackness showing up. It’s like the images just dissapear momentarily, ranging from a literal split second to several, and I can’t find a fix, just annoying workarounds. It’s VERY frustrating and time-consuming to re-observe a 3-9 minute video 6 times to spot these blacked out moments. It used to not do this at all.
I’d like to keep using LumaFusion and even wanted to purchase some of it’s features. But I cannot justify spending more money on an app that just frustrates me anymore.

Kept freezing
I’m using this on a Mac Mini M4, have more than enough processing power. Project kept freezing when scrubbing. Very frustrating. Had to quit app as nothing would respond.
The Good Old Lumafusion Days Are Long Gone
it sucks that I remember when this app used to be good. There is always some new issue now when I use this whether it’s just impossibly slow loading times or the fact that sometimes audio won’t import or that it won’t let me drag tracks down into perfectly usable areas. I guess we’re all learning daVinci now.
The trash of it all
This app is amazing for video editing and it’s also a piece of trash because it will glitch out, mess up, and , start to make all kinds of crackling noise. To pay for this app means you are willing to get use to closing AND opening this app as you work on your edits plus, you’ll also have to get use to turning off AND on your smart device, just to get lumafusion to work correctly…… you have been warned 🙏🏽🫡
The iOS version should be removed.
This is my first interview. I wish I could write something more positive. The iOS version is almost unusable compared to the iPad version. Simple things like combining clips or multi selection should not be difficult to implement. I know that the user interface real estate is very small on an iPhone, but there are many ways to solve this. Medicine is incredibly difficult to have audio key frames and the documentation just seems to only focus on the iPad. Honestly, I can understand not having the resources as a developer to make a version for iOS that is a little more custom tailored to the device’s sizes. The code base has to remain the same and separating out the lower level function expensive. As odd as this sounds, I recommend you guys remove the iOS version until a time comes where you think you can have the same functionality, but with a different user interface.
Good APP w/ BAD updates
The newest update completely made the app unusable I upload videos into the timeline and the preview will only work for about 3 seconds until it just absolutely freezes I had to buy and learn additional software to be able to finish my video I tried every work around I could. For context This Video editing "app" has been my main editor for 6 years now, before Luma Fusion I even used their previous software Pinnacle Studio. Now I really do enjoy this software bringing computer grade editing onto the iphone/ipad basically. Making it an all in one, but I do expect a $30 app with $100 dollars in addons and a monthly subscription to be high quality given the average ios App is .99¢ or free.
My main gripe is there aren't many bug fixes, only major updates, and by major updates I mean updates that add major bugs with some minor new features, and also remove other features I've grown accustom to. Which makes me have to relearn a portion of the software. Also the bugs make somethings impossible without learning work arounds for them. Sometimes I feel the developers don't actually have testers to give feedback. or maybe not enough devices to try the software on I know the new ios came out but most other developers dont have these issues and the Developer Betas have been out for months yet they wait around until the update bricks the software and the wait additional weeks or moths to fix it I’ve had the exact same issue before and they neglected it for so long.

No Auto Captions
Buyers beware that the app does not have auto caption capability which I should’ve investigated further before purchasing the app. 🤦🏻♂️
Not as intuitive
Somewhere along the way, this app became less and less intuitive. Double-tapping on a clip used to bring up the editor (now nothing happens). It’s buggy whereas it didn’t used to be (sometimes the selected clip isn’t what’s playing). Selecting multiple clips and duplicating doesn’t work. Same with copy and paste (only will paste half of what I copied). Can’t process multiple clips at once. Etc, etc. I once felt like I had a grasp of this app; now I have to seek out the manual for what should be basic things. Not sure when this happened, maybe around the time the app started including annoying upgrade pop-up ads. Maybe there’s some magical version where if you pay even more you get basic things like this, I don’t know. Such a shame.
