Can’t take advantage of core functionality without giving up hundreds of dollars to pay for a subscription. I don’t even plan on using it that much so why would I subscribe? Now I am stuck with no capabilities because of greed. Typically, if you needed a tool, you would purchase it and own it forever till it stops working. Subscriptions? You own nothing and perpetually spend money for something you may hardly use, or use all the time. Subscription models are a huge waste of resources
Deleted all my floor plans
After using this for years it forced me to create a new account and all my floor plans were deleted. Hours of work gone
Nightmare
This is absolutely not intuitive. After 2 hours I have yet to finish the ground floor of a small condo. I managed to graduate medical school, I can program ventilators but MagicPlan is a complete nightmare

I spent an hour scanning an entire home. It was the only time I had to get inside! I just bought the house. At the end of all of the scanning magicplan asked me if I wanted to save the video. I said no. Then magicplan asked me again. Are you sure? I said OK. Then the app proceeded to crash and freeze! I lost all of the scans and had no time left to redo them. Now I have to buy furniture for a house that I don’t know the measurements for thanks to magicplan! Great job!!

This is NOT free (which is ok… ) but..
I have no problem with people working on a product, and charging for it. Just don’t assume you’re getting this for free. I’m 5 min in, and the lack of transparent pricing is going to bug someone. Be up front.

Appears to be creating file, but DOESN’T
I thought I created a plan of my new house, but when I wanted to submit it this morning there was no plan.
Waste of money
The application freezes too frequently, camera gets stuck and you waste more time trying to figure out how to use than actually using the app. I even upgraded to give it a try and same thing, don’t waste your money
Garbage… no option for scanning
Garbage app terrible UI and unintuitive. Good luck finding the option for scanning. Their help section is also garbage and offers zero info about how to start or scan.
Not user friendly at all
This is terrible. No clear way to begin using the lidar scanning. Junk app. Not effective at all. Very difficult to use. Doesn’t generate 2d floor plans.
Camera scan doesn’t work
The camera scan feature simply does not even begin to function. If that’s your aim don’t waste your time.

Not scanning correctly
I want it to love it. Unfortunately, it is not scanning accurately, and often I have to res, scan and rescan before I get just a piece of what I need to work with.

Not sure why it’s free to download but requires a subscription to use. Why bother downloading for free? This used to be a useful app when it could be used before.
Can't delete projects without paying
It's no longer possible to delete a project without paying for a subscription. I have deleted my subscription and will no longer help out friends or family members with their ideas using this app. The app was never good enough for professional use, and now it's too expensive for casual use. Tinkering with ideas for free and paying once you're ready to make a project happen is the main valid use for this app, IMO, and that's just no longer valid given all the inherent limitations of the app itself and the restrictions imposed on use. It was good while it lasted.
Not user friendly
I got the app to make a floor plan. It was pitched as something easy I could do with my phone. Nope! Feels like a waste of time.
Wasted 30 minutes then App Crashed
I was very excited scanning my entire new house with Lidar thinking this app would be helpful to generate floor plans and 3d model. When I clicked done scanning the app crashed and I lost all the work I had done the last half hour.
Limited objects, requires PC in addition to phone.
Very few basic objects to place in room on phone app. Must have PC available to create other objects. Within hours, the app created a copy of my first free project meaning that I now have two projects which is my limit. People with the free plan are unable to delete projects so here I am stuck with two of the same project and unable to open a second one.
Does not work
I just spent 10 minutes scanning the whole room. It looked promising. It showed lines on the wall corners and ceiling. It detected doors and furniture. But then it didn’t save anything. And it shows 0 ft.². Terrible app it doesn’t work.
Wasted my time
Lost my sketch that I worked on for hours and support will only contact you in 1 business day! I need it now. Waste of time. I’ll never use this!
Not intuitive. Couldn't figure it out
I downloaded this app specifically so that I could use the Magic Room scan and get the square footage of my room quickly. The signup process took me like 5 minutes. In that time period, I could have measured it myself. But, hey, it would be set up for the future, right?
Once I got in, I didn't see anywhere where I could use a Magic Scan. I looked all around, I thought maybe I need to create a new project, maybe I need to upload photos first. Tried it all, couldn't figure it out. Went to the help center to try to see if it could tell me how I could make a Magic Scan. The only article it had was "How accurate is the Magic Scan?" Which told me it's this accurate. Not what I need to know, I need to know where to find it in the app.
If your app is so complicated to use that you can't figure out how to use it in 10 minutes, it's not worth my time, so I deleted it. Won't be using again.

Data Mining!
Huge fail! First they want so much personal information just to start the app, then, if you try to go to site and log in on a desktop computer, even with the login you created, they start over and ask the same questions. They don’t need to know the information they ask for, but you can’t bypass it. Thanks, but I’ll find something less intrusive.
Frustrating
Floor plan had areas but not dimensions. Could not find a way to add those dimensions. Instructions confusing. Gave up and used my tape and a pencil
Bad scan no edit
Scan could not determine corners of inset desk or corner book case. Product can only edit scan on phone or tablet, so you would need a stylus.
Stay away from
Talk about useless, this app crashes constantly the room mapping is a joke I have a perfectly straight hallway and out of nowhere I have a wedge that’s 47 feet long with another set of doors, just don’t waste your time

What is shown in the videos does not represent what it true is. It does not recognize corners. It’s a total mess
Was free not any more
It’s been a few months since I opened this app. I created, for free, plans for what I hope to be my family’s future home. To my surprise when I opened the app I couldn’t make changes and if I want to do so now I have to pay. The way I feel about it don’t make an app free to begin with then after a while, decide, oh look we’re gonna charge.

Flagship Functionality Does Not Work
The auto-scan that they show as their flagship functionality is cloaked as a “beta” feature because it does not work. I am on a brand new iPhone 16 pro, so hardware is not the issue. I was very excited to find this app and it turns out it is garbage. I am a very tech savvy user. My project is a commercial building with various office spaces with 4 apartments on the 2nd floor. I started with the auto-scan function. It seemed to work ok at first, but if I try to scan more than a few rooms in a single session, it would lose it position. I had to scan a room at a time and then reorient them and build the floorplan manually. Once I got it all put together, I verified the measurements and found that some were +/- 6”-8” in some places. I decided to start in 1 corner and use my laser to correct the dimensions. The further I got, the more whacked out the plan got, to the point where some walls are dotted because the whole thing is now broken. Keep in mind, these are actual dimensions I have corrected on the floorplan. Today I decided I would tackle the first suite downstairs. I am following all of the guidelines by scanning one room at a time, no more than 2000sf. I finished the scan and all rooms were green. When I clicked to complete it, it just went back to the 1st floor plan and was blank. All of my work was lost.
Horrible UI
I should be able to open this up and be generating a floorplan in 5 minutes. It is not ‘discoversble’, meaning that the layout and exposure of controls should allow one to infer the workflow. This one is opaque. I’m not about to sit tgrough an hour long tutorial.
What a joke
The app doesn't perform any of the functions demonstrated in the videos. While it might be able to draw basic square boxes, it is not practical for real-world use. It's completely ineffective-save your time and money. I regret downloading this app.
Will delete your work
On the demo version, no matter how much time and effort you spend on creating a room, as soon as you move to another app and come back to Magicplan it will delete all of your work. That is hardly a reasonable demo.

I’ve had this app for years and enjoyed creating almost unlimited plans. They updated it a year or two ago and now you only get one plan for free and have to pay if you want to create more than one plan.
Too hard to scan rooms.
The scan feature is close but not quite right and the controls to edit the plan are not the best.
Scanning does not work on iPhone
Downloaded to take measurements and try some layouts for a bathroom remodel from my iPhone. Got a message saying that I need a device with a larger screen. Worthless for my needs. I’m on iPhone 14 Pro.
So hard to use
I was tempted with a free version, but it didn’t let me scan the room, which is the purpose of this app. I upgraded for $12 per month and it took 45 minutes to figure out how to get the app to scan the room. Another 45 to scan a 3-room office, which I restarted several times, only to come out with a Dali-like floor plan of a room, bent and melting. One extra star because canceling was easy.

Free, starter version. It shuts down and deletes the project.
You can't delete projects without paying and you are limited to two.
In the free version, you can only create two projects. If you make a mistake and want to start over, you cannot delete your project. And you are limited to two projects. I do not find this app to be useful in its free version.
